Drove 3 hours to go to this salon because I was recommended by a friend in the salon business and said they were great. I originally wanted to see Tara because I was referred to her and had seen her instagram and she does great work. Tara was booked months in advance, understandably. (Update: Tara is no longer there)They asked if it was ok to see someone else. Since I wasn't trying to wait that long to get my hair colored, I agreed to. I went twice. Saw the same colorist, I showed pictures of exactly what I wanted, and while I understand it takes time and multiple sessions to go drastically lighter, I felt that my request of a face frame + balayage wasn't out of reason. I left with barely there highlights both time to the point where I didn't even notice a difference in natural light the second time around. I don't feel that my results were worth the money I paid both times. *update* - in response to Alicia - No, I obviously haven't been back in approximately 2 years and the only reason why I even remembered to do this review was because I just got an email from the salon stating that I'm due to come in. My hair is not black, and it's always been a medium brown. I was never asked to sign a waiver nor did I sign one. I know that lightening goes in stages, anyone who regularly maintains or dyes their hair is aware of this, but the bottom line is, I didn't get nearly what I expected even with realistic expectations and as a customer, I didn't feel that I was listened to from my colorist. LOVED my experience! I came in for a Brazilian Blowout with Dawn. I have had ~9 in the past and this was by far my best. I have been to three different salons in the Orlando area and really did my research before booking. Dawn and her associate Jessica were so amazing! I went there today for the first time, they were able to accept me as walk-in, receptionist said I had to wait 20 minutes and ended up waiting 45! Didn't say anything.. no big deal. They quoted me at $65 for root touchup, the stylist was nice although she did ask other people to help her during the process which I let go by, again No big deal. At the end I was checking out and my total came to over $100 which surprised me! I asked why and they said blow drying is $40 which no one mentioned to me when I checked in! I'm a person who is not cheap when it comes to my skin and hair.. I usually pick the best places and the right products for me (I even bought a Kerastase shampoo from them) which they told me will be %25 off and never got that. I liked the service but I did not appreciate being misled like that. If they were honest about it from the beginning then I would have never had an issue but this is really not nice to treat clients like that.. the $65 should be more than enough for roots and blow dry, what did I pay for? Being Asian, I have always found it very difficult to find a good stylist. Someone that TRULY understands how Asian hair is (if you are Asian, you know what I am talking about). A friend of mine had recommended Dawn Paulk at Educe Salon in Orlando. Educe Salon makes it possible to book your appointment online and you can see pictures of hair colors and styles each stylist had done. The day came, and I headed into the shop. The front staff was very friendly, and they told me to have a seat and Dawn would be with me shortly. About 5 mins later, Dawn came over and introduced herself to me. I sat down, and we talked about what I wanted and any concerns I had. I've never felt so comfortable with a stylist after just meeting them. And in the end, my hair turned out SO GORGEOUS!! I went to Educe on a whim the day before my birthday. It was a Saturday and I gave up trying to book online because it's confusing. I called and left a message hoping for a miracle and John called me back to say he was able to get me an appointment for 4:00. Around 3:45 he called to say my stylist was running behind and asked me to come in at 4:15 because he didn't want me 'having to wait around'. I thought it was very courteous that they called to let me know. I got confused when I arrived because the receptionist desk is set far back from the door but then I figured it out haha. Lizzy was my stylist and she was great! Turns out she opted to stay late to do my hair when everyone else said they wanted to go home. It was nice that she was willing to do that. She came off as sort of aloof at first but I learned later that this is just her personality. She asked what I wanted and I never really know so I gave her a vague idea and let her run with it. I loved the cut she gave me, at least so far with the blowout she did. I anticipate it will look great once I wash and style it myself. She didn't make me feel bad about having used box color to do my roots the last few months and even gave me a suggestion of how to protect my hair if I have to keep using it. I thought it was great she didn't try to shame me or try to sell me conditioning treatments or something. She even complimented my color lol! I came into the salon twice. The first time I came in for a balayage I did not get the results I desired - it looked nothing like the picture I brought in, my hair was brassy, there was no toner used, not to mention I payed $280. I contacted the stylist and told her my disappointment and she had me come in to put more lightener in my hair. I toned it myself at home using a vegan ammonia free toner and it was much closer to the results I wanted. Fast forward 4 months later, after letting my hair grow I decided I wanted more of a highlighted look. I went with a different stylist this time which I had heard great things about. She said I needed babylights (which seemed more like heavy highlights once we got started) which costs $315 with a trim. I had high hopes this time, my hair was already quite blonde at the ends but alas the same results- no where near the picture, brassy and yellow and way over priced. I was livid to the point of crying and just payed and left. I called the manager the next day to see what we could do and she had the nerve to tell me i needed to come back in for highlights for $130 to receive the look I was trying to achieve. I simply told her I would NEVER be setting foot in her salon again and that I have been blonde almost all my life and have NEVER had such bad results especially for that price, not to mention leaving without toning, YOU ALWAYS TONE BLONDE HAIR. Thankfully I had someone tone the brassy out and I have found a great stylist. I don't know if it's their products at Educe or their staff, but I DO NOT recommend them in any way. It's overpriced and I've never had such bad results. *in response to the below comment I would be happy to post the pictures myself. I'm the one on the double shot photo, the other is what I was going for. There is no gradation, face framing, no ashy tone, it looks yellow. It just looks like very heavy highlights with no toner and now I have to let my hair grow out and get highlights to frame my face so I won't have a line on my part. After calling to complain the manager said I could come in for a toner but it would make my hair darker, or I could pay another $130 for highlights. I've worked in a salon before so I know about hair. I know about hair lift levels, but that has nothing to do with toning. My hair is lifted, but not toned to an ashy blonde. Before we started, she basically did a consultation asking what I wanted to do with my hair, what color I wanted to do, how I want my haircut, etc. After showing her pictures and telling her what I was looking for, she explained to me the process and gave some suggestions as well. Again, I was offered something to drink and to have a seat and my girl Megan came out in two minutes! We got straight to the point. She described everything that she was doing and what that was going to do to my hair! I had many questions and she answered them right away! Okay, so Chelsea Milligan is my hair stylist, and let me just say, SHE IS AMAZING. She takes such good care of me!!! So the first time I went to see Chelsea, I had been dying my hair red with box color (gross I know) for 2 years straight!! My hair was dry and fried! So I went to see Chelsea and we both decided it would be best to chop all the dead hair off! So after we cut it, I went ahead and decided on a dark brown color with some blond peeking through!! My hair grew faster and was overall much healthier! The next time I visited Chelsea, I had decided to go with a crazier color and we decided on blues, purples, and teals! She dyed my roots a dark purple and then faded the color out into the teals, blues, and purples! It looked SO GOOD and I have never received so many compliments on my hair!!! It blended so well!!! I got my hair done Feb 2nd and the color has last all the way until May 27th with vibrancy!! TODAY, May 27th, I went to see Chelsea again to get a corrective color done. So basically, she colored my faded strands with purples, blues, and teals and dyed my roots again with the dark purple and DAMN. MY HAIR IS MORE VIBRANT THAN THE FIRST GO AROUND. It looks soooo soooooo good and as I was walking to the restaurant down the street, I was already getting compliments from passerbys!! Since my old stylist moved, I have been salon hopping through downtown and the Mills50 area, along with dying my hair myself a time or two. The last time I dyed it myself, a train wreck occurred with my roots completely a different color, bands of additional colors... Just really bad. I was able to score a last minute appointment with Lizzy who also is a pro at color correction. She evaluated my hair and developed a plan to correct the color with my input. I just finished session 2 which included a balayage of red highlights to develop a more natural ombré while adding dimension to my naturally dark hair. I have definitely found my new stylist! Lizzy is truly an artist who focuses on perfecting her craft when working on a client. She is a bit quieter then some stylists, but has a hysterical dry sense of humor that I enjoy. I like that they worked fast and I wasn't there for too long. I was looking for years for someone to color my hair but I was hesitant because I have pitch black hair, but when I saw Yanni's work on Instagram I knew I can trust her with my locks. Due I-4 congestion traffic we were 20 minutes from the salon when we called to inform them that we were going to be about 10 minutes late. SAVE YOUR MONEY I went To @danii_does_hair I spent 4 1/2 hours for highlights and a root touch up my hair was all 1 color and I provided a reference pic of my actual self. Pretty basic right...I got orange base color and copper highlights that are only in the back and underneath. She told me next time I come she'll give me highlights in the front that go to my root....Ummm I am confused that is what I paid for NOW, this time! Stylist did not listen to me when I said as a new mom I mostly keel my hair back in a poneytail and have no time to style my hair. I get that shag is really in right now and I think that's what she did to half of my head, but it made for a frizzy mess. She blow dried my hair before the cut, which I think hid the flaws of this cut. My hair does really well with bangs and helps me look a little more put together, but these bangs were cut without any clear demarcation. It is impossible to separate bangs from not bangs, which leads to constant linger wisps in face and the worst being scalp pain because the hairs are going in different directions (like one hair going to bang, the next two going towards back, the next one going to band and so on). It is like someone is constantly pulling a single hair over and over again or that feeling when you just take out a tight poneytail after wearing it all day. But, I can get no relief from the pain, which either the pain is turning into a headache or the stress of it all is giving me a headache. I have no time to myself to schlep all the way back to the salon and they will only fix it with the owner who has limited time during the day, when I cannot make it due to nap/feeding schedule of babe. Options are pretty grim right now for getting relief. Thinking I may do the dreaded and attempt to cut the longer pieces myself so at least I can get some pain relief. The worst haircut I have ever gotten in my life. Update: The physical pain was expressed and explained on initial call and when then with follow up calls with manager. Each call this was expressed, because this is what was the worst part of the haircut. The salon's follow up post below is to make themselves look good and is really disheartening that they would misrepresent the facts. Regarding a pair of broken jeans or other product, I would be able to return the said product at a time that worked into my schedule. I was only given the options to come when it would be impossible (baby schedules - face palm‍). I offered to come in last night, but was told by Lisa there was no one that could fix it. Also, the salon says it would be a quick visit of 15 min. They are not taking in consideration the hour of driving nor the complexity of trying to make it work with a baby. While I did receive a refund or was told I would receive a refund, I actually never received an apology. Then the misrepresentation of facts and non analogous example used in salon's response to my review is further disrespectful. I did end up taking scissors to my own hair to get relief from the constant nagging pain. I succeeded in fixing the pain and giving myself a pretty gnarly haircut. Maybe the run in with a lawnmower look will catch on. I'll just be keeping away from mirrors for a bit lol read more

She spent 10 min with me upfront going over my picture references of color, asked me what aspects of the different pictures I liked the most, and talked me through exactly what color she was going to do on my hair. Came here today to get my frizzy, poofy, home-cut hair fixed. I'm so glad Yelp pointed me to Educe and Lizzy had an opening for today! Educe is doing a great job following the guidelines to keep clients and employees safe! I felt totally comfortable with how careful they were with sanitizing and everybody staying distant and wearing masks, yet still being very welcoming and friendly. Enough of that- my real shout out goes to the owners daughter, Jaden Rosado, who colored my hair today, she did a great job and was as confident as her dad who has been cutting my hair for 25 years! I'm not unhappy with my hair but I could be happier. Mostly, it was the salon experience that left more to be desired. As this place is really pricey (money that I don't mind paying for good hair and a nice salon) you would expect to be getting your money's worth not only in the hair you leave with but in your time spent at the salon. Which for me was a solid 4 hours of noise and chaos. The employees are a bit unprofessional. The girl who was doing my hair was constantly interrupted to do other things or to talk to her friends as they walked by her station. Sometimes I'd be mid-sentence talking to her and she would interrupt me to talk to someone else. It is very clear that the stylists are more concerned with having social hour with each other (very loudly mind you) rather than creating a good environment for their clients who are paying generously to get their hair done there. Another thing that bothered me was that I was paying extra to have a master stylist do my hair yet all she did was the cut and the painting. She had someone else do the toner/glaze and then another person doing the blow out. Obviously I understand her job was most important but toner is a big deal too and I could hear her explaining everything out to the girl who she had do the toner on me as if it was her first time which totally made me uneasy. Then the girl who did my wash and blow dry had these terribly long pointy fake finger nails and she stabbed me about a million times during the wash and dry. Like why would they allow someone who is so up close and personal with a client's head/face wear their nails like that? Super impractical. Then after I had already been there all day and clearly was ready to go, I was held up because the girl who blew out my hair had to take about a trillion pictures. I'm definitely cool with having a few pictures taken but it was honestly excessive. She had me turning and angling for what felt like forever for a picture that was never even posted by the salon or the stylist. Overall my stylist did a good job on my hair. It wasn't 100% what I wanted but I'm content with it. It was the salon experience that left me less than impressed. If you're going to shell out hundreds of dollars, I would recommend doing it at a place where you won't totally hate your life for the 4 hours you spend there. read more
