Went to a wedding here last night and it was beautiful. They had a nice small chapel with tent type reception areas. It was a rainy night and it was just fine. Reception area was beautiful with lots of soft lighting and plenty of room. I think there was approximately 200 and there was plenty if room for more. This placed sucks and is not worth the money. I went to a friend's wedding here a few weeks ago and it was pretty depressing. It's dirty and rundown, the food was terrible, the service was terrible, the dj was terrible. The price tag to book this venue is ridiculously high and you definitely don't get what you pay for. Had my dream wedding here in August, 2012. I live in the San Diego area and searched long and hard for the best places to have my wedding and reception for a reasonable price. Everything was so expensive in San Diego and I decided I could invite no more than maybe 30 people to my wedding reception unless I found someones back yard to throw it in and thew it myself w/the help of friends. I grew up in Redlands area and knew of Edwards Mansion. I had attended many weddings there in the past and always figured I wouldn't have the opportunity to have my wedding there because I assumed it would be out of my price range. I eventually went to the mansion to check for myself. The first thing I noticed is that they have made some major renovations! The beautiful Mansion that I once knew is now even more beautiful and the grounds look well kept and more up to date! The grounds are set up so that there are many beautiful photo shots for both the photographers and wedding guests. STAFF: Despite how busy they were, the staff was very helpful, flexible with me, kind and were willing to do everything over the phone, Internet and fax machine since I live in the San Diego area. They not only helped me with planning the event but also any wedding questions or concerns I had in general. From helping me choose my colors, deciding on bridesmaids dresses, giving me recommendations for anything such as a venue for the rehearsal dinner (which could also be at the mansion BTW), to nearby hotels. It was wonderful to have people there who love what they do and were so supportive and encouraging. Judy was of the utmost help as she always called me back right away if she wasn't available when I called. She spent endless hours with me as through the process I changed my mind several times. She was always kind, uplifting, patient, helpful and encouraging. How it works... The weddings come in packages including food/catering, music, bar, venue, ceremony, reception, minister, servers, cake, toast, invitations, rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, photographer, wedding planner, limo and so on...depending on what you need/want for your wedding. This saved me time, energy and money as the price was much more reasonable then expected! They included everything necessary for my dream wedding and they did the work for me! Wedding Day... The WORST part of my wedding was the weather...it turned out to be 110 degrees and humid! The mansion did all in their power to make it comfortable including assisting us with iced water during the ceremony which was outside. My guests all stayed throughout the entire wedding and reception despite the heat! I asked why and responses included that it was the most fun wedding they had ever been to. That it was beautiful, the staff made them comfortable, the bar tender made the guests laugh with his witty personality, the DJ played fun music as well as kept the event on time and in motion by leading the way w/announcements and humor when appropriate, the coolers and fans in the outside pavilions made it comfortable for them. I was a nervous wreck the day of the wedding but the staff calmed me down, ensured I had everything I needed...their photographer I had chosen was excellent and also very supportive. She made me feel beautiful and ensured that my hair and makeup was in place throughout the event so the pics would come out beautiful! It was the best day of my life and I have Edwards Mansion to thank for it! One of the greatest fears I had was that other receptions or ceremonies nearby and the would disturb ours! It turned out there were other ceremonies and receptions that day but the mansion was very careful to spread the ceremonies out so they didn't disturb each other...also, the only time I noticed any other receptions was when I went for a walk to the inside of the mansion! Otherwise it was very private and there was nothing to worry about. CEREMONY It was beautiful...the atmosphere was perfect, we didn't have any interruptions, their wedding planner ensured everything went smoothly. The minister was good, he followed the plan we had discussed prior and was very sincere and joyful. It was very hot, but our guests were provided water and I had handed out little paper fans. We kept the ceremony to a 1/2 hour as well which helped with the heat. DJ I used the DJ that they provided w/the package. David was my DJ and, thanks to him, the event had structure, was classy, the music was appropriate and fun, and everyone had a blast! He was excellent! FOOD The food was delicious, we chose to have buffet style dinner and the guests loved it! The staff served my husband and I and the chicken cordon blue was my favorite! Ummm. BAR I opted for an open bar! How could we say no for the price!! It was a perfect choice. Dave, our bar tender, was excellent and the guests loved him. He was efficient, the drinks were delicious and they kept coming all night long! Was amazing, would do it all over again! read more

Had my wedding there about little less then a month ago had forgotten a box in the chapel that had my bridesmaids robes in there and a couple other things called and spoke to Maureen she had stated that she had the box and also my mother in laws bag well today my mother in law went to pick it up being I had been unable to make it back sooner thinking my stuff would be put away nope she arrived and another lady had no idea about the items and when I called she said she would have Maureen call me back when she returned from lunch which she didn't so I called back and her response was the box is not here the bag is sitting right here but the box is gone I just seen it this weekend but being that we talked almost a month ago it's not here anymore like it's my fault I would think you would put it away or even contact me to see when I was coming for it but now it's gone wow unbelievable !!! read more

My wife and I got married at Edward's Mansion this summer and had a wonderful experience there. The grounds are beautiful and quaint. We had a large wedding and used both of the tent pavilions (East & West) in the back...one for the ceremony & one for the reception. We had a great experience working with the staff. They were very accommodating and friendly and let us come in and walk around/plan/rehearse whenever we wanted to and answered all our questions promptly. Our wedding had more than 400 guests so it was a bit of a logistical challenge but besides a little hiccup in the waiting staff directing people to the correct area for the food tables, it was a pretty smooth activity. Another thing is that we were told that they probably wouldn't book another event on our date since our party was so large, but unfortunately, at the last minute, they did book another event. There were a few times that we had some issues with both of our weddings wanting to use the same space but since they were double booked it caused a little confusion. For our uplighting, we used Endless Entertainment, owned and operated by Richie and his crew. We were very pleased with his service. He provided TONS of uplights for both tent pavilions and they really added to the magic and beauty of our special day. The tents can be a little drab especially in the evening, but the uplights really helped to highlight the beautiful drapery in the fabric and tents looked great. They did a great job and were very affordable too. He even called back after the event to follow up with us. 5 stars for Endless Entertainment!! read more

Beautiful Venue for any function. The staff here are awesome and go over and beyond to make your day special. The place is gorgeous. I've had the pleasure of attending 2 beautiful weddings here. The first in the early 90's when there was nothing but beautiful lawns, and this past November in an add on Pavilion. If you're a modern bride, you're really not going to appreciate the beauty of this historical landmark. If you get a chance just stop by, they'll give you a tour. The only downside is the maintenance. I think the caretaker needs to take a little more care in making sure there are no cobwebs and leaves littering the roof. The first wedding I came to 20 years ago had cobwebs all over the gazebo and their were cobwebs in the scrollwork around the porch this past November (I doubt it was the same old spider :). read more

Really disappointed my fiancé and I were planning to get married oct 21 2017 ,I put down 1500 and my fiancé was in a car accident in April leaving him with a neck fracture making him unable to work so now we can't afford the wedding. I asked for our money back due to the circumstances and of course I wasn't able to get not even half back unless another couple booked the same exact areas as we chose in the mansion ... very disappointed read more

Went to an event here over the weekend and the place was pretty cool there was a lot to like! The location is kinda random over by some industrial/ commercial are but once you're inside you kinda forget about that haha. The grounds are nice and its a very charming place. read more

My wife and I got married here and had a wonderful experience overall. They were able to work with our budget and were very responsive leading up to the big day. When the wedding day came everything went very well, we got married in the chapel and had a reception in the east pavilion. The catering staff was great too, I didn't have expectations but was so happy with how awesome they were. The food was pretty good too, wedding food usually isn't great to me but no complaints from us, guests seemed to like it too. One minor complaint is they told us we were the only wedding booked on our day even up to the last week, but another wedding party got booked afterall. Not a big deal, it's also not the venues fault to double book, it's just a notice would have been nice as two weddings can be confusing for guests who don't know. Anyway that was minor, everything else was great and Edwards Mansion definitely was the right choice for us. P.S. the pictures don't do justice, this venue is beautiful everywhere you look, you have to be there to feel it and appreciate how nice it is. read more

This Place was horrible, I had out down a deposit and unfortunately the wedding had to be canceled, I have talked to the manager chris about returning my deposit because the wedding was nine months away he had told me to call back and see if anyone would rebook and if not then after the date he would he turn the deposit so here we are nine months later and then he changes his story, In the end the staff was rude he himself is rude I would not recommend anyone getting married here, stay far away from this place. read more

In case anyone is curious about details, here's a copy of the complaint I filed with the BBB against Edwards Mansion yesterday. Feel free to spread the word. I would hate to see another bride go through what I did. You shouldn't have to pay people to make your life more difficult! especially not that much! I am happy/lucky because I married the man I love and everyone in my bridal party that helped me decorate etc.did a great job and helped make my wedding beautiful! Too bad my venue couldn't have been as wonderful as them! It's a shame I can't give this place zero stars because that's what they deserve! Here is what the body of the complaint says: "Representatives of the business made many promises that were not kept. As a result, my wedding day was a disaster. They refuse to return any money. I had my wedding at this venue on 9/12/15. I booked my date about a year in advance and paid a total of $4,640.49 to the mansion. On the day of my booking, I was promised that this venue did not book more than one wedding on the same day. I was promised the same thing again when I asked a few weeks before my wedding date. Instead, 4 weddings were booked on 9/12/15. As a result a number of things went wrong and the venue refuses to return any of the money I paid them. Here is a list of everything that went wrong on that day due to their mistakes: 1. I was made to get ready in a tiny bridal suite that was over 95 degrees in temp. This made it difficult to steam my dress, do my hair, and my makeup. 2. My groom and groomsmen were shoved in a dirty waiting room 15 minutes before the ceremony, and were interrupted several times while getting ready by other bridal parties passing through. He only received this room after complaining several times he needed somewhere to get ready. 3. I had to go to ridiculous lengths to avoid my groom and guests before my ceremony because they scheduled a wedding in there area where I was supposed to hide only an hour before my wedding. I actually interrupted this bride's bridal photos just minutes before my ceremony because she was still in the room. 4. This same bride's guests had to cross over my ceremony/reception area to reach their reception area. So, her guests took almost half of the water glasses from my guests' tables on their way there. Leaving my guests with no water for awhile and the day was hot. 5. My ceremony was interrupted three separate times by another wedding's DJ and bagpipe player who was practicing right next to where we were holding our ceremony. My minister literally cracked a joke about "not planning those bagpipes." 6. The serving staff was rude. They were taking my guests' plates before they were done with them, refused them of food they wanted when there was plenty left and all the guests had already gone through the buffet line once. 7. The extra food that I paid for from guests who RSVPed but did not show up was not sent home with my party. They even tried to take my leftover cake. My sister had to stop them and make sure she got at least some for my groom and I to take home. 8. My groom and I left our reception 30 minutes early so that my guests would have plenty of time to talk and linger until they were ready to leave. I heard from more than one guest the next day that after we left, they felt rushed and pressured to leave when I had paid for them to stay another 30 minutes... When I called on 9/22/15 to file a complaint after returning from my honeymoon, I spoke to a man named Chris. I calmly and respectfully explained my issues with the treatment I received. I made a point to mention the employees that did accommodate us well. (Though, I could only think of 3.) This man Chris basically gave me a fake apology. He said things like, "I'm sorry you feel that way." rather than admitting that they actually handled everything so poorly. He refused to acknowledge that anything I told him was true or correct and told me that he "did not see grounds for any refund." If what I have described here is not grounds for a refund, I don't know what is. I feel that I did not receive $4,640.49 worth of service. In fact, I feel that they basically dropped the ball in every aspect. I could not honestly give them a good review to anyone and I would never wish on anyone the type of horrible service I received there. This was not a company christmas party or something like that. This was my wedding! They refuse to make this right which is why I am making this complaint. I have numerous video and photo evidence of most of these complaints as well as several people who will attest to all of these complaints." read more

Edwards Mansion is nice locale and close for us,we were married there on 8/29/09, I being the groom. Nice venue but when we booked it we wanted the Chapel, to be indoors, Late Aug. weather,so WE asked is there A/C? Answer yes and also fans. We had little or no help from our assigned wedding co-orderater. On Wedding day, was over 100 outside and about the same in chapel, A/C was blowing hot air. We survived but barely. If you plan on using it go for cold weather. We only had wedding , no reception. There was another wedding outside in garden at same time but parking was no problem. We brought our own minister and singer, but again no P/A system so poor sound for guests, and we couldn't wait to be gone, read more

I am writing this after having been a bridesmaid at my sister's wedding at Edwards mansion in June of 2009. A previous reviewer who had attended a wedding in 2007 wrote: "The minister [gave] a bunch of bizarre advice to the couple followed by his resume...Then he pronounced them man and wife before they even exchanged rings!" This is no doubt the same exact minister who oficiated my sister's wedding. She was told by the Edward's Mansion (EM) staff that he performed all of their weddings and had been with them since they started doing weddings. She figured this meant that he was really good and since she was not given the chance to meet him before the ceremony, she took EM's word for it. She expected to finally meet him at the wedding rehearsal but was told that he doesn't attend the rehearsals. So, the day of the wedding was the first time she ever got to meet the minister. The other reviewer theorized that he must have been drunk, but since he gave the same exact spiel at my sister's wedding, I am guessing that is just his normal routine. He went on and on about himself and how he worked in a children's hospital and just kept going on about his resume. He tried to tie his resume into him having learned so much in life and therefore being ordained to pass down wisdom, but I agree that it was bizarre (talked about current divorces). If he felt it was necessary to share, it should've been saved for after the ceremony, not incorporated INTO the ceremony. He announced that he would like to present them man and wife midway through the ceremony (they had not exchanged rings and this was not followed up with a kiss). My sister (the bride) was very unhappy with his method of performing the ceremony, but kept a smile on her face due to all cameras being trained on her. Right after the ceremony when the wedding party had receded and met inside the mansion, the minister came in told them "I hope you have a great life" and left. The only reason that I can imagine he is still working with EM is because none of the couples are ever given the chance to disapprove of him until after he has been hired and paid. Plus, after a wedding the new couples are so involved in other things that they have no time to complain to EM about the horrible 'toot his own horn minister!' Besides the minister, the rest of the wedding was wonderful! The food was delicious and the cake was tasty! The reception was beautiful, the servers were good, the dj was ok (also an EM associate), and the photographer (another EM associate) was there through most of the reception. As for that photographer - as we were all getting ready in the honeymoon suite (my sister had rented it for the bridesmaids to stay in the night before and for her and her new husband to stay in the night of the wedding) - he came up to take pictures of her getting ready. It was a bit odd because he stated that his 16 year old son 'loves weddings' so he brought him along to assist him and he would be a vidographer for the wedding at no extra cost. Once we got down to the area where his son was, I couldn't tell which kid (there were two teenage boys) was his son because neither of the teenagers seemed particularly happy to be working the wedding and had to be told multiple times to do stuff. Half the time, the photographer would tell them to do something and then end up running around like a crazy man doing it all himself...it seemed more like his son was in trouble and his punishment was that he had to assist his dad at work... The photographer did do a really good job and even though he was running all around, he seemed to be very efficient . A strange thing about the mansion grounds is that when standing under the trees, it felt like it was raining although it wasn't at all (the photographer mentioned that it is an odd thing that happens there and is hard to explain). Perhaps the Edwards Mansion ghost...? As I said earlier, the bridal party females stayed in the Carriage house honeymoon loft. It was definitely cute and quaint, however, there were certain aspects that while I did not mention to my sister, I found to be below par. There was a dishwasher which is nice, but it was already filled with dirty dishes - not so nice. The daybed did not seem to have fresh sheets and had a plastic liner that was coming off in the corners. The view from one side of the loft is that of the EM garage workspace. The main bed was VERY creaky and squeaky (imagine the wedding night creaking!). It was obvious that the drawers and cupboards aren't cleaned out after each guest checks out as I found some stale cereal and some wedding favors from 2007. The stairs leading up to the loft looked like they hadn't been vacuumed in a year, but I suppose if a groom is carrying his new bride up and over the threshold, this will be the least of his worries (steep stairs)... Please don't get me wrong, the place was very nice it could just do with a better maintenance staff. read more

My husband and I used Richard Velasquez at Edwards Mansion to DJ our wedding, and we couldn't be happier with the results! Richie is a joy to work with, every step of the way. Richie provided the best entertainment for our wedding. He provided lighting, sound, microphones, up-lighting.... Everything was great quality and our wedding was outstanding. If I could rate this in minus stars I would! This once was a beautiful place to get a great meal and it had wonderful ambiance! But not any more, the chapel was dirty from the old dusty wreaths on the wall to the dead bugs in the window sill! There were so many weddings piled up one after another they had to ask the bride and groom from the wedding before the one I attended to leave so we could get in! From there we went to the patio for the reception and people from other weddings were walking through ours because of being over booked! I felt really bad for the bride because on top of this the food was worse than the school cafeteria ! They had a kids buffet with chicken nuggets, Mac n cheese and corn! When a vegetarian adult went to get something off of this table they were told by the staff that it was only for the kids! (We were the last table all of the kids had been served first) our meal consisted of bagged iceberg lettuce with grated carrots that are in the bagged lettuce already, the only salad dressing that was offered was thousand island, they had rolls but no butter or margerine,our entree was extremely dried out breaded chicken breast, instant mashed potatoes, this watery white sauce with no taste and steamed california mix, this was the best part of the meal even though again there was nothing in the way of butter or anything to put on it! And to top it off they quickly cleared all of the left overs away just in case some one would be out of their mind and want seconds! All I have got to say in ending this is shame on you Edwards Mention for robbing the dreams of young brides by not following the ideals you once had that you use to lure people in to steal from them! read more
