TLDR: James and his crew (Noor & Mike) did a fantastic job! Found a water leak in the living room near where the main water line enters the home (Thurs). Specifics: After researching online and at Yelp, I called a local plumbing service who offered to divert two techs later that day. While waiting, I did more research and found out that many plumbers do NOT offer leak detection service, ONLY repairs. So I tried "Leak Detection" as a separate category and found City Water Conservation (CWC)--who ONLY had 5- and 4-star reviews! I called and spoke with James who offered to come out right away as my house was close to the office. (The other leak detection service couldn't send anyone out till Saturday!) He isn't a Tech but said he would take a look and offer any advice (no charge!). He noticed I was losing a gallon of water a minute. He set up a Tech appointment for later that day. BONUS: Because CWC deals mostly with insurance companies, their repair and detection service prices are posted right on their website! No finagling or guessing. The plumbing service I'd called earlier came over and gave me three estimates--one to bypass the leak (least expensive), one to jackhammer the floor to locate the specific pipe leak and repair it, and one outrageous one if I wanted to reroute the whole system (which they did not recommend). Noor from CWC came over late, after 6pm, due to traffic from a job in the Bay Area but stayed till well after 7pm to do the job; found the area and marked it with tape on the carpet. Measured the moisture in the damp carpeting and (soaked) padding. Another tech, Mike, came over to help and both even moved a couch out of the way to better detect the leak area. James answered all questions (especially regarding insurance and what they might cover) and made sure a report (with pictures) would be sent the next day along with the estimate so I could decide. CWC's estimate to fix the leak was LESS than the plumbing service's lowest estimate just to bypass it! Guaranteed for life as well. I called Friday morning and they set up an appointment for first thing Monday AM. Mike came over *earlier* than scheduled and politely waited in his truck but I was awake and eager to begin so I let him in. (HIGHLY recommend Mike as he was one helluva hard worker, conscientious, patient, answered all questions and had a wonderful positive attitude.) **I should point out that I am a firm believer in the Golden Rule and treat workers the way I would like to be treated. I gave the guys snacks and water and tipped them. You of course don't have to, but that's how I roll.** With only a half-hour lunch break, Mike stayed until the job was DONE--10 hours! The leak was nestled in the concrete footing near the outer wall so it took a long time to drill down (Mike had to switch the hand-held jackhammer to avoid damaging the pipe with the larger, traditional one). He also had to remove some of the baseboard and cut a hole in the drywall to access the stubborn pipe. He braize-welded (sp) it and we had water again!! James came back the next morning to fill in the hole and add concrete back to level the floor. James also gave me his phone number to call with any further questions. He even recommended a mitigation company (to dry out everything) and a restoration expert (to fix the drywall) that they often use. After four-and-a-half days with no water, it's great to have it fixed! I hope I never need their services again but if I did, or if any of my friends or neighbors do I will fully recommend City Water Conservation. Thank you!

At the end of March 2026, I submitted a project in Yelp asking for help to unclog my toilet. I…read moreinitially attempted to use my automatic snake to free up the debris that was clogging the toilet but the snake was stuck and I couldn't pull it out, and so I got help using Yelp to find me a licensed contractor. The plumber was able to pull out the snake but it doing so the at the end of the snake it had a bunch of fiber glass insulation maybe the size of a golf ball. As he continued to do his work, he then called me a 2nd time to show me what he pulled out of the drain, which was a softball size of Wall insulation. We were both puzzled as to how insulation was in the plumbing. At first he said that maybe the installation was not done correctly and may have been done in a way where the venting just went into the attic and the snake ended up pulling insulation from the attic. But I then by checked and went into the attic and noticed that the venting went all the way through the roof as per code, and so the plumber mentioned then that someone must of flushed this material down the toilet. This didn't make sense because there's no logical reason why my daughter or my wife would have access to insulation on the 2nd floor of my house to even put down the toilet. I questioned him again and he said that there was no other way except that the insulation was put there intentionally and thus clogged the toilet. I asked him also if he had a camera to inspect, but he said he forgot it. So after "unclogging" the toilet he then did some tests like draining water down the toilet and verified that it was draining properly. I asked if everything is working order and that he fixed the problem, and he responded that he did. I paid him the $325 for the service and he left. Fast forward to today, we heard a bang from something falling and to later find out that my wedding Portrait has fallen off the wall. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the drywall was wet and moist. Btw, this area of the wall hides the drain pipe from the 2nd floor bathroom and upon further investigation, I saw that the iron drain pipe was disconnected from the rubber grommet that connects to the pvc 45 degree elbow drain. So all this time my bathroom drain was not going down the iron pipe but instead falling down like a waterfall down to the first floor behind the interior walls. I spoke to the plumber and he refuses to take responsibility and says the he did the job and unclogged the toilet. He insisted that it was my problem and that he did was he was hired to do. I explained to him that yes he unclogged the toilet but in doing so he inadvertently jarred the drain pipe off the rubber grommet that connected it to the main PVC pipe, and also it now makes sense that the metal snake caught the insulation from the wall rather than insulation which he suggested was in the drain pipe by someone placing it down the drain. He's arguing that it was my doing that I got the metal snake caught in the first place and so the fact that he removed it, he felt he did his job.
