Called and Hailey helped me find a spot for three nights in the Wagon Wheel section, normally for groups. Easy hookup and facilities were dated but acceptable. A lot of seasonal campers here and everyone waived as they walked by and were friendly. Very large pool, but the weather turned cool. Easy 15 minute bike ride to Egg Harbor Train Station, where you can park your bike or bring it on board. 20 minute ride to Atlantic City, one hour to Philadelphia...if you don't have a car. Would stay again!

The lake is great for canoeing, and the Batona Trail is just up the road for hiking. For a small fee, they'll supply your campsite with firewood. Several Pinelands destinations are within convenient driving distance. The campground is well-maintained. Keep an eye out for the osprey, and listen for the whip-poor-will. Pilgrim Lake has been around for decades, so evidently Scott and Helen Hazard are doing something right. A superb camping spot, all considered.

More of a campground for seasonal campers with RV's…read more We made a visit to Timberline because our friends are seasonal campers. As tent campers, we had a tent site in the field, which also gave us a little more room to enjoy nature. The restrooms at the field are clean, but the stalls are extremely small that you must do your business with the stall door ajar or you'd touch your face and knees on the door (and I'm a petite person). The office and bathhouse restrooms are far roomier and just as clean. Neighbors are very hit or miss. The staff here are nothing short of amazing. Everyone is friendly and took care of us when we ran into an issue during our first visit. There are enough activities throughout each weekend to keep the kids entertained. Most of all, the beach and lake alone is enough to convince us to visit every summer.

The only reason it isn't a one, is because if you are self contained (not using their bathroom) and not having to ever speak to management, it is like any other campground. Management is very passive aggressive when they speak to you. The electrical boxes are outdated and do not include 20 amp plugs (every single other campground we have been to has had 20 amp plugs). The showers were horrendous!! I will attach pictures of the showers for you, as they are truly disgusting (I am not referring to the water stains from well water, I am referring to the true dirtiness). When you step in the shower, they have a mat on the floor and you can here dirt crunch under your feet the entire time. I truly believe they have NEVER rinsed under the mat. Once they decide to be a bit more friendly and a whole lot cleaner, they will be much better off.

It's high season for campgrounds during this time of year with everyone trying to enjoy remaining summer days and finding a good spot may pose a challenge. My girlfriend called Turtle Run and the stuff got us quickly on the books. The campground is located on the banks of Wading River and you totally get that feel that you are in the woods. Heck, I even did not have any cell coverage! For those like me looking for a way to unplug and enjoy getting back to nature consider this a great spot. Closest shopping center is half an hour away. The campground is well run and organized. A few amenities worth mentioning: - clean bathhouses (restrooms, showers) - on-site laundry - games and fun activities for kids and adults - deli offering delicious meals Accommodations vary and range from a tent site, to trailers and cabins. We stayed in a "primitive" trailer, which was $90/night and it totally hit the spot. Ample room for two people along with your personal picnic table, fire ring, grill, and a parking spot. You can buy wood from them for $5 a bundle which is a good deal.
