The service is normally ok, as my first visit the owner gave us a run down of the history and invited us back during lunch hour, so of course we honored the invite. I'm intrigued by old stores, but don't try to treat me as though we're back in the day. The men (customers and staff) were okay or at least kept it respectful, but it only took one old lady to walk in and turn the vibe out. She kept staring at us like we had just crossed some boundaries, and the treatment from a few staff members shifted towards those of color, like "yeah whites only". I should've walked out at that instant, but it was just another creature's "attitude" at this point. Unfazed, I waited in line to order, but the old lady kept staring like I was to disappear. The order taker noticed her and proceeded to go around me and took the color-bothered lady's order. WOOOOW, not just attitude but action, I thought. But I wanted my hotdogs and cake so I waited as I made mental notes of the past, the present, and the future. BUT!, when I did get to place my order and paid for it, they said, "he didn't charge you enough", like wait, what? you GAVE me something? NO. I bought this at NO discount. For a hotdog, a thin pickle slice, and chips at 3.95each (which is kid's combo) and 3 cakes at 3.50 each. I paid 20.38., twenty dollars and thirty-eight cents. Like wtf.. how much more do I need to pay for 2 hotdogs and 3 small slices of cake? At this point, I knew it would be my last time supporting this place. It is I, and only I, who chooses who and what I support and THE OTHER STORE is not something I will continue to support as long as they indulge and support such customers' unacceptable behaviors. No hard feelings here, but if you want to serve and respect a "certain people", please put the sign back up and stop accepting OUR support of YOUR establishment. That didn't mean they weren't willing to make it for me though. I don't know if I ordered it exactly right, but the woman taking my order and I walked our way through it... the sandwich was delicious either way. This time I also got to try The Griswold (Turkey, bacon, provolone, pepper jack, lettuce, bbq & parm-peppercorn) and it might be a new favorite. This location is bigger than others I've been to. They had a bunch of tables inside and a large communal area outside with turf and a bunch of seating. Someone was even having a birthday party out there. Now I want to have a Sully's Steamers bday party too!

I then asked for a cup of coffee, and was told that there wasn't any ready, and that I would need to wait a few minutes. Again, not a huge deal, but I would expect a breakfast restaurant to have some coffee ready by the time that they open. Second, when perusing the menu, I was not particularly impressed by their "limited breakfast" options, nor anything on their regular menu. I decided to go with a simple hot dog, and substituted the offered sides with an order of French fries, which ridiculously cost me almost $4 extra. In addition, my hot dog was fine, but nothing exceptional, and definitely not better than one I could've gotten at Costco for a markedly cheaper price. The one (1) bright spot was that the fries were very good, and of higher quality than most other fries I've gotten at similar restaurants. Finally, my server was nice enough, but a little rough around the edges and not overly attentive. In addition, the ambiance was pretty basic, with nothing about it that really stuck out. All-in-all, I wouldn't be adverse to returning to DiPratos on a Saturday or Sunday to try their breakfast menu, but I won't be coming back during the week, and wouldn't really recommend that anybody else do so either.

The extensive menu made deciding what to eat almost as difficult as deciding where to go for lunch! Our group sampled quite a variety of the menu, including three Bacon Maple Croissant sandwiches, three tacos, a Pecan Chicken Salad, two different orders of pancakes, and a bowl featuring barbacoa beef, chips and eggs. Our waitress, Meleva, did a great job handling our party of nine. She managed to put together a table for us and squeeze us in so we could get started. Fortunately, the table next to us emptied about 20 minutes later, so our temporary seating arrangement worked out just fine. There was one order that got messed up, but that one really can't be blamed on the waitress. There was a little miscommunication while we were trying to figure out what I wanted. She moved on to someone else, and when she came back around, I had completely changed my mind and ordered something entirely different! So, in this case, we'll give the waitress a pass. The Food Overall, the food was good, with ratings ranging from a 7.0 to a 9.5 on the ROMEO scale. The Pecan Chicken Salad received particularly high marks. The average ROMEO rating was 8.05, which translates to approximately 4 stars on the Yelp scale. Personally, I wasn't especially impressed with my Bacon Maple Egg sandwich. The egg itself was very good--fluffy and covered with cheese. The bacon was good, there were some nice hot jalapeños, and the croissant was decent. Then came the maple syrup. I like maple syrup as much as the next guy, but putting it on a croissant sandwich just didn't work for me. In my humble opinion, maple syrup belongs on waffles or pancakes--not in a breakfast sandwich! The maple flavor just seemed to take the sandwich downhill.
