Bright and clean. In 5 weeks they have used over 10,000 eggs (says the sign on the back wall). The food was good. Waffles were excellent but the hash was passable. Eggs were perfect and bacon came crispy. Coffee was ok and only half and half available (no cream). We didn't try the specialty ones from a machine. Not bad, but lots better places in Ghent for breakfast. They had lots of room and it was bright and airy in the dining room. No wait for a table even with a larger group. That being said the food was just ok. Eggs done right, who can't do eggs... sausage pattys were the best part, pancakes were dry and unappealing (good news was a 40 of decent syrup on the table) service was prompt with constant refills. My wife and I really liked this restaurant for weekend breakfast. The food was good and fresh, the service was attentive and courteous, and the atmosphere was relaxed and casual. Unfortunately, the last time we visited a customer chose to walk in with a gun fully visible in the rear waist band of his pants, and sit at the counter where everyone could see him (and the gun). No staff asked him to leave or to secure his weapon in his vehicle, and nobody (as far as I know, though we left pretty quickly) called the police. I know VA's gun laws are ridiculously lax, but businesses have the right (and I would say the responsibility) not to allow deadly weapons on their premises (especially in a city with a notable gun violence problem like Norfolk). Before you ask, "well, how do you know he wasn't a cop," um, he most definitely was not. And any cop who carried a weapon in as sloppy and unsafe a way as this guy would be relieved of both weapon and job before long. I wrote to the restaurant's management expressing concern and disappointment that it did not take its customers' safety more seriously, but received no reply. We haven't been back and likely won't return unless the business decides not to flagrantly disregard customer safety by allowing people to bring deadly weapons into a place of business. read more

Working my way through the menu for sure. I've been here several times and the food has been consistently high quality. Personal favorite is the special corned beef hash. Fresh made, not from a can!! It's especially good on their special Founders Hash Benedict!! The CBH on an English muffin drizzled with hollandaise is awesome!! The staff is super friendly and always attentive. i have been excited about this place since they opened! i work at a plant store nextdoor and i finally got to work early enough to get something. i ordered online through their website and it was super easy to do so. it said my order would be ready in 10 minutes and they had it ready in 6. the staff there is super friendly and when they first opened they came into my store to introduce themselves and give coupons! i created my own breakfast sandwich with a plain bagel, turkey back, egg omelette style and cheese with a size of home fries (because duh). when i opened the box my jaw dropped. the sandwich was stacked! each individual ingredient was cooked perfectly and it made for an incredible sandwich. they also provided a cream cheese on the side? i slapped that right on the sandwich and it was delicious. definitely going to start planning on getting to work early more often. read more

I placed my order Togo originally then called 3min later to cancel it because I was coming in to eat instead. I talked to the manager who said to come in anyway because she cant cancel it. We come in to eat and within 3min she was bringing us our food. Our food that has been sitting in the window for 30+ min. She told me that she would MAKE my food when we got there since I already put in the order. When I told her the food was cold she told me and my family "I don't know what to tell ya". She took our plates back to the kitchen and put them in the microwave. I was beyond annoyed especially after seeing her walk around in flips flops, it gave me the indication that she REALLY didn't care. No wonder why she spoke to me like that. Well I am so disappointed in this cute little place. I took the girls early in the morning Sat and found it to be less than welcoming . The food was flavorless and I wish I had not chosen it to start our day. We ordered the kids meal for the girls and some recommended bowl dish for me. We all didn't like our food but was never asked if we did or not. The grits were the worst! The waitress never smiled.. not once! She looked like she hated being there so that along with the awful food means we will not be returning. The price ended up being (including my 5 for a tip) around 33 dollars and some change. The restaurant is cute which is why I chose it with many regrets. My girls are well behaved and they were hungry. It advertises that they are a family restaurant. It played country music and was big enough to accommodate a lot of people. Don't go there if friendly service is something important to you. We later went to wawa where the girls were welcomed by a good morning smile where we got some doughnuts and hot chocolate. In conclusion, this restaurant is NOT on my go to places. It's a shame because I live so close and had wanted to go there for a while only to go there with my very loved nieces only to find it so disappointing on food and service. I've had some iffy experiences here, sometimes management doesn't seem to know what they're doing (it always looks like 1/3 the staff is doing 3/4 the work, and tables definitely aren't allocated evenly which is a pain). It's hard to understand how a place called eggs up couldn't cook anyone's eggs correctly. The poached eggs were so undercooked with almost all of the whites still clear and runny and someone's scrambled eggs were also very runny. My eggs were supposed to be over medium but were definitely over easy. 3 egg orders underdone. The steak was underdone from medium rare to just plain bloody. When asked to fix it we just received another rare steak and offered steak sauce multiple times. All persons at our table were so disappointed that we chose this over supporting local at Little Dog.
