This location was recently renovated. We liked it how it was but pleasantly surprised. Nice and bright, new everything... furniture, plates, cups and seating. We were seated straight away and server came to take our drink order quickly. The chairs are metal with a wooden seat, my husband said they are uncomfortable. I sat on the other side which was a soft couch like seat. Love the yellow mugs, you get a generous serving of coffee. I enjoyed my Classic Benny, eggs were perfectly poached and english muffins were well toasted as requested. The home fries were not as crispy as expected. My husband said toast/bread didn't taste good and sausage patties were very spicy.. I tried a bite they did taste hot and spicy for a breakfast sausage. Clean and Tidy. I've ordered delivery 3x from this location using DoorDash. The 1st time was great. The 2nd time, they forgot my toast. Additionally, they placed the cold fruit cup container on top of my hot food (inside of the larger to-go container). Why? There is a reason they are packed separately... one is hot, one is cold. I feel like I shouldn't have to explain this. Also, the fruit cup smashed my entree, and it is not sanitary. Just place them in the bag separately! The 3rd time, they forgot my fried potatoes (or they were out?), same egg smashing fruit cup technique, and the "crispy bacon" isn't even fully cooked. I tossed it in the trash. Driving around the streets of Greenville on a lazy Sunday morning, I was looking for a quick breakfast. I saw a crowd at Eggs Up Grill and decided to check this place out. Despite the crowds, service was pretty quick. I got a take away order for two, and ordered the following: Steak and eggs ($10.49) Biscuit-wich ($5.20) Orange juice ($2.59) Coffee ($1) The biscuit-wich is a sausage patty with egg, cheese and a biscuit that comes with a side of sausage gravy. I had none of this but was told it was great and filling. The Steak and eggs was a 6 oz made to order steak and came with home fries (I had a choice of the fries or garlic toast...but I also got toast too) as well as a grilled tomato. The steak, which I asked for medium, was very much well done and tough. The home fries were cubed potatoes and sadly, some of them were under cooked and crunchy. Eggs, that were asked to be scrambled, kinda glomped together into one large chunk of eggs. Flavor in everything I mentioned wasn't bad. It's just the cooking was off. My knee jerk is to give 2 stars to Eggs up grill, because meh, I've had better. With that said, I wasn't expecting a lot out of the steak, especially from a take away breakfast order, but the biscuit-wich was tasty. So while I have had better, collectively I think my experience here was okay. Even if i never return to this location, eggs up grill is a chain, and if I try them out again, maybe my next experience will be great. For now, it's just an okay one. read more

As a reminder, I like to rate a restaurant according to what they are trying to achieve and not relative to another restaurant in the same category. For example, Eggs Up Grill is a basic breakfast and lunch style diner whereas Another Broken Egg shoots for more upscale (they have a full bar and higher prices) and Waffle House shoots more for flat out sustenance, your basic breakfast. Eggs Up is moderately upscale but still on the basic breakfast level with a twist of being all about creating community and being family friendly. It is a local SC grown restaurant but now has 36 locations and has become a small regional franchise empire. This restaurant has expanded and now has approx 26 four top spaces, about half are booths and there is a counter seating area for a dozen or so individuals. The space was bright, clean and full of energy. The menu has the basics along with some specialty omelets. It was Labor Day and we arrived at 10:00 AM and the place was full, with a short wait. This was somewhat surprising since the location is not in an easier to get to strip mall. We were seated within about 5 minutes. The wait staff was very attentive and pleasant and the tables seemed to be turning quickly. I had the basic two eggs over medium, toast, grits, and homemade corned beef hash. I love to eat corned beef hash now and again if it is done correctly and this one was - a nice lean consistency, still moist and not dry, and it did have that most necessary property of the exterior crunchiness. I think they cooked this on the flat top in a thin layer and rolled it like a burrito tortilla so that there was a good crunch within the bite. Eggs were prepared correctly and the grits were spot on, not lumpy and not overloaded with cream/butter. My wife had a simple order of scrambled eggs and grits. Our only beverage was a large orange juice ($3.69) and water. Total bill was $19.06 plus tip. All in all, this place is a more affordable option than Another Broken Egg (and less fancy) and a notch or two above Waffle House in terms of "ambiance." This is a good choice for a breakfast or brunch. read more

When we arrived at eggs up there was a line which was to be expected for a late Saturday morning. What was not expected was that we'd get inside and there were several tables and booths empty. They have several long dining tables which comfortably seat 6 and sat parties of 2 at one end and could have easily sat another party of 2 at the other end. So the wait was longer than necessary. Once we were seated, we requested gluten free pancakes (which are on the menu) and were told they didn't serve them at this particular location (yet they are on the menu). So my wife and I had breakfast at EUG again today. My last visit was a stellar experience which yielded 4-Stars. I had one complaint and it was their grits. Though minor I did deduct a star. Today, we had awesome service and the grits were South Carolina good! I ordered eggs, grits, an English muffin and ham. Everything was perfect! They got it! My wife's breakfast was eggs, a half waffle and sausage. Again, perfect! But, the star of the show was the WAFFLE. My wife gave me a tiny taste. It was a tender airy deliciousness that had me in a state where I was considering stealing what my wife had left. One bite was not enough! She's no one's fool and after decades of learning my bad habits she ate that waffle in 30 seconds and flashed the smile I married her for. TMI--Except, get to EUG and order a waffle...You're welcome! 5-Star Deliciousness for having a waffle that is calling me back; and for an owner who said she'd fix the grits and she did! It was honestly underwhelming. I had the red , white and blue waffle. I ordered this dish because the pictures on Instagram was a nice size waffle with a large amount of bananas, blueberries and strawberries. When I received my waffle it had maybe 4-5 pieces of each type of fruit. Drastic difference. I was still hungry . I wish it came with a side . I had some of my sons oatmeal. I loved the toppings but it still tasted bland. My husband had an omelette and fruit medley and was also unimpressed. There's some amazing breakfast spots in Greenville. This let me down . There were 5 of us and we were told the wait would be 15 minutes. We were directed to help ourselves to the coffee station for free coffee while we waited.....starting to like this place now! Within 10 minutes we were seated and our waitress arrived. She took our drink order and drinks arrived before we knew it! She was definitely fast and friendly. We told her we could tell she was busy, the place was packed, there was a waiting line BUT we had an appointment so we'd appreciate any pull she had to get us in and out quickly. She assured us that she didn't have to do anything as they were fast regardless. I thought to myself......they all say that, right? Only time would tell. Just to be safe, I thought I'd call our appointment and give them a heads up that we may be running late. Glad I'm not a betting lady ..... I would have lost. Our food arrived and my coffee cup wasn't even empty......and might I say, looking tasty! The bacon was cooked to perfection, extra crispy. The pancakes were light, fluffy and HOT! Butter was melting down the sides of each cake! The gravy biscuit was creamy, full of sausage morsels and tasted delish. Our server kept the coffee flowing and made sure we were taken care of. Went here for a team meeting. If I were by myself or with a friend I would have walked out. The food was horrible. Biscuits and gravy: Pre made sauce heated up over biscuits that weren't made fresh (identical to Waffle House) Eggs Benedict: Canadian bacon so small you can't see it under the overcooked eggs that are covered with hollandaise sauce that was like greasy gel with no lemon juice. I only wish I weren't with a group so that I could have sent all of my food back and ask what they have on the menu that doesn't come out of a bottle or can. Bottom line - they don't know how to cook. My coworkers' steaks looked as dry as the desert. I will never go back again, thankfully it was free for me because work paid for it. I thought it was bad and while I had just put another bite of potato bites in my mouth (which they didn't salt or season), my coworkers pulled a hair out of his mouth!!! It was in the batter of the pancakes/waffles he was eating! I couldn't eat anymore of my entree after that and tried my best to finish the pre made biscuits and gravy. Gross. We finally tried out this spot after being in the area for years. To be honest, the food wasn't very impressive. It was your standard fare. My boyfriend got the eggs Benedict. He didn't really like the Hollandaise sauce. I got the corned beef hash, it was alright. Nothing to really hit home about. We also got some sausage gravy to go with our breakfast, my boyfriend definitely liked it but it tasted a sweet to me. The service is outstanding, the food is good across the board and the prices are more than reasonable. There is nothing pretentious about this restaurant. Good simple food served without any fake window dressings. It as close to a real down home breakfast that your mother or grandmother use to serve. Added this place to my list of breakfast places to try around Greenville. There was a 20 min wait at 9:30 am on a Sunday - usually that's early enough most restaurants to avoid a wait but this restaurant is very small, so be prepared. I ordered the Little Hen in the Henhouse - a half waffle with scrambled eggs and sausage, with a side of coffee. I appreciate having menu items with smaller portions of things like this, half a waffle with eggs and sausage is still plenty of food for me. All of the food was fine. I don't have any complaints, but there was nothing about this restaurant that "wowed" me or would draw me back in compared to other breakfast places around town. read more
