The cakes looked dry in the case but weren't at all. Very flavorful. Chocolate brownie, lemon bar both good. The cheesecake was fine, too, but it was lavender honey and unfortunately wasn't super flavorful (real whipped cream though). Have pot pies, lasagnas, scones, etc in the freezer that you can take home. Zero complaints. Great stop.

It is a bright and spacious coffee house, obviously very popular with the Western University students. They also have sandwiches, which I did not try, but they have a good selection. B served me, and she was friendly and efficient. They make their own doughnuts and loaves. I got an apple doughnut. It was filled with apple filling, some cinnamon icing on top, and it was fresh and not heavy. As a tourist, I appreciated not feeling rushed. This bakery has a beautiful assortment of cakes and pastries to choose from. We both had the ham and cheese croissant which had an authentic cheese inside. We do wish it was heated up though. My husband also ordered the cinnamon twist and mentioned that although it looked pretty, it didn't have as much flavor as he would have liked. My cappuccino was so delicious! It is so difficult to find a proper one around here and Pastry Culture gets it right. The art around the main lobby represents Paris culture perfectly and the interior design was very nice. You can see some of the staff hand making pastries in the back room as you place your order at the cash register. At the time of visit, there was a lot of construction going on around the area, but it's totally worth getting through it to try out this spot and setup your laptop for work or have a morning chat with your bestie.

So when the logical next step happened - a cafe/lounge opening and named after that steel moniker - there was no question that I had to check it out. I'm just kicking myself for taking so effing long!! One word: cronuts. This crazy combo was only a mere puzzlement until today. I saw cronut bites in the display and ordered a Skor chocolate and orange chocolate duo. Humina! Melt in your mouth fluffy yet dense ooey gooey goodness! Unreal. I loved the orange one so much I bought two more for later. If you scan their FB on Thursdays you will see their weekly creations, which are full sized and I'm sure very delightful. My mom and I shared the daily specials of beef barley soup and a grilled cheese made with bacon, pepperjack cheese and balsamic mushrooms. The soup was incredible! So much beef and chunky veg and flavour. Very hearty. I was a little unsure of the grilled cheese because balsamic and I don't get along but the combo was very delicious. I ordered an iced tea made with earl grey and had to sweeten myself (totally fine) but that's a new concept to me. It was good but I probably wouldn't get it again. I should've ordered a hot beverage but after a spell in the toasty room holding the bazaar I needed to cool down. Their drink menu is pretty extensive, booze included. And yes the lounge portion of the name comes later in the evening and it's a very cool space for that sort of thing. I will have to make a point to travel to the Rhino again soon.
