Ehsani's Hot Kabob is the best Persian food we have found in St. Louis. I wish there were more vegetarian options on the menu as I always have to order the Kashke Bademjoon, which is delicious but would like more options. My partner ordered the Vaziri which he said was amazing. The rice here is spectacular. We finished our meal with hot tea. We arrived a little early for dinner and the place was empty, but it did start to fill up more as it got later. The staff is very kind and the food came out pretty quickly. We went here for lunch and we ordered the two people combo since it is just the two of us, my boyfriend and I. The food is good. I like the beef. I wish the rice would have more flavors or spices. The service is not what I expected. Having someone one or two years older than my kids asking me what I want to eat is different to say the least. Therefore as expected, no checking to see if you like the food or needed anything else. Which was fine, because I do not expect my kids at their age to know to do that. The koobideh kabob (included in the soltani kabob combo) was fantastic. It literally melts in your mouth. Both kabobs are on skewers when they arrive at your table and are pulled of the skewer by gloved hands. They are piping hot upon tableside delivery! The masto khiar is so cool and refreshing and well seasoned. I highly recommend both dishes. The gentleman at the bar when we came in was super friendly and adored children. He was enamored with our 6 month old and grabbed his guitar to play her some songs. It was so sweet. You can tell the people that own this business are super nice and their food is fire as hell to boot. It is a toss up between this place and Royal Kebab for who has the best kabobs in the city, but they both blow Majeed out of the water. I, for one, will be supporting this area business quite often. The meat here is incredible! I've had a ton of Iranian food from a variety of places but this is the first place I've tried in St. Louis and I don't think I need to try any others! This is some of the best food I've had in St Louis. I'm including two visits in one review. The rice is worth the visit alone. The platters are as tasty as they look. For the holidays we got a three person platter for carry out and reheated for dinner the following day. It worked beautifully. The only reason this is not five stars is the ambience does not match the quality of food. The restaurant is very basic.. it is obvious that it had been a Mexican restaurant previously and a German restaurant even before that. They serve canned beverages. It would be nice if they took advantage of the beautiful bar to serve cocktails. I also wish there was a vegetarian kabob or a vegetarian platter. I heard about Ehsani's Hot Kabob on the radio and instantly knew I wanted to try it! My friends and I decided to stop by for lunch on Monday around 12:30. They had just opened for the day so we were seated pretty quickly. I had looked at the menu online, and so we ordered an EHK special combo and a 2 people dish combo for all of us to share. The menu in the restaurant had no prices included, so I assumed they were the same as online (they were not). The service was a little lacking, especially considering we were the only people in the restaurant, but the presentation of the food was wonderful! I especially enjoyed the lamb chops that came with the special combo, and the yogurt sauce for the rice. The restaurant charges extra for water, but the combo has drinks included so be sure to ask for that! The food was very fresh and flavorful-- my one qualm is that the online price mentioned the combo was $139.99, but when we received the bill it was $207.99 (an almost 50% increase from their menu posted four months ago!). The 2 person combo was also slightly more expensive ($46.79 vs $39.99 on the menu online). The combos fed all 13 of us, but the server mentioned it was the first time he'd seen 13 people eat an 8 person combo. Other than the price hike and the slow service, the food here was very good and we will definitely be back. read more

Wow! Great new Persian restaurant in Bevo at the former 2nd home of Mariscos El Gato. Amazingly fresh meat and basmati rice dishes made to order. We had a combo platter for four people. There was enough for at least another two people. Plenty of leftovers. It included rice, multiple meats, bread, veggies and drinks! It ended up being $20 ea. we chose the fresh carrot juice. Delicious and fresh to order. So good. Everyone in the group loved the food. They brought the platter to the table and removed the meat from the very large skewers for us. Great presentation!!! Incredible, best Persian I've ever had at a restaurant and I've had a lot! Highly recommend

I have never eaten Persian food before and I'm not a big fan of lamb in general so when I got the invite from a friend about going here, I was-well reluctant and had low expectations for the meal. How wrong I was. The food here is terrific, I would strongly urge the combo plates (size depending on group but our gang of five got thru most of the 5 people size plate. Excellent spice levels, even for a lamb avoidance person I thought it great long with the chicken. Keep on top of your waiter, ours seemed to be forgetful inexperienced but genuinely upset about forgetting drink order. Big FYI, it is BYOB here, they do not serve alcohol of any type (even though it looks like it used to be an old school south side German bar-it still has a bar in it it unused!) and they do say in the future bring your own. A beer with my meal would have been a terrific pairing. They do take reservations and for larger groups I'd recommend make them. Very informal setting, its decor is aanodd mix of German beer hall, Mexican seafood restaurant mural and a girl flatscreen TV paying classical piano music. read more
