First time in St. Louis in 20 years & needed a late evening dinner. Idol Wolf knocked it out of the park with its Spanish style tapas. The croquettas were amazing & the Spanish Caesar salad was phenomenal. I loved the two craft cocktails I had as well. The service was attentive and friendly. The vibes were laid back and there's lots to look at art wise. Amazing horseshoe bar. Will be back on my next trip to STL!

Absolutely loved our experience at Idol Wolf. The restaurant is stunning, and the ambiance throughout the beautiful 21c Hotel makes the whole experience feel special. Every dish was excellent, but the duck was easily my favorite of the night. Potatoes and duck were in such an amazing sauce. Will dream about that cheesecake. Great cocktails, attentive service, and an atmosphere that makes you want to stay awhile. Highly recommend!

I would give this place a million stars if I could. I started a monthly supper club with some of my friends, and Saturday was the first iteration, which we did at Idol Wolf. Note that they have a max of 8 people per reservation without doing special menu/private room. Idol wolf is located in the 21c hotel and museum. It is stunningly beautiful, and definitely a great place for girls night with tons of photo ops. Despite it being a busy Saturday, we were able to find nearby parking pretty easily, The service was excellent, and food came out fast despite the dining room being mostly full. They have a unique cocktail program--I sampled most of my friend's drinks (my favorite was the Strawberry Balsamic gin tonic). However, I ordered the shakeajillio, which was pretty basic espresso martini, not my favorite I've ever had, but just so-so. Every single person in my party was absolutely blown away with the food. We tried several of the tapas and shared as a table, my absolute favorites are as follows (in order): 1. Agnolotti - this one surprised me, but the pasta may have been the best I've ever had. It was the perfect thickness and had just enough bite, filled perfectly full of creamy goat cheese, and swimming in a perfectly balanced sauce. 2. Brussel Sprouts - hands down the best I've had. Crisped perfectly, with a tart and acidic glaze, loaded with toppings. I could NOT stop eating them, long after I was full. 3. Tuna on Toast - this was a popular one for the whole table--very unexpected but so, so good. The charred bread with a super soft interior that it came on was fabulous as well. This is also the only tapa I got a picture of. We also got the patatas bravas, Spanish Caesar, beef carpaccio, gambas Al ajillo, and chorizo white wine mussels--all also great, except for the carpaccio which was a little salty for my taste. It's worth noting that the portions are larger than I expected, WELL worth the price! One friend opted for a full size entree, and she went for the strip steak which she absolutely loved. If you haven't been, you simply MUST GO. Idol Wolf is easily one of my favorite restaurants in the whole city after just one visit. You've got a fan for life!

Had a great date night at Idol Wolf! It's located in a hotel lobby and conveniently its entrance is easily seen in the lobby. The interior is dimly lit and well decorated, making for some great photos while you wait for food and drinks! My partner and I got a large variety of of dishes to try out. Couple of highlights include the agnolotti pasta, the beef carpaccio, the croquettas, and my lemon drop! The agnolotti was a great mix of creamy, sweet and savory. The Jamon croquettas were like an elevated mozzarella stick, could not go wrong with those. The Spanish style lemon drop has to be one of my fave drinks on this Earth. It takes your classic tart lemon drop with a kick of hot honey that just adds OOMPH to the drink. While we did not get a dessert, our amazing server treated us to cotton candy to finish of the meal. He was a great help picking out the dishes and was very prompt to fill our water and take away dirty plates.

First of all, this restaurant is just off a hotel lobby that wows you. Prepare to spend some time walking around. Definitely forward in design and feel. My daughter booked the family dinner for Father's Day and it was wonderful start to finish. We will definitely be returning. The dining room is on the small side (for a hotel) and that makes it a great place if you want to have a conversation. We parked valet in front - and our only quibble is that website said hotel valet would be free if you were dining in the restaurant and we were charged $20. A small thing but please be warned. Once seated, our waiter took drink orders. The cocktail menu is filled with creative choices. I got a mocktail called Noloma and it was very refreshing. Tapas is the style and we tried so many dishes from grilled octopus (spicy sauce) to the Spanish Caesar salad (my favorite) to grilled brussel sprouts (my daughter's favorite and the "Hen of the woods" (my husband's choice). Everyone loved the beef carpaccio which was sliced paper thin. There was a crusty bread served with several of the dishes. Cheesecake for dessert. Service was top notch and afterwards we visited the museum upstairs - a feature of the 21c Museum Hotel. A few other notes: the restroom is communal and unisex plus the lobby bar is a destination unto its own.

Vibes galore! From the moment you enter the hotel, you know this will be a wonderful experience. Carry on to the restaurant and you can't help but notice the high ceilings, huge windows, and buzz around the large bar. Contrasting the bright and spacious bar area, the dining room is cozy and intimate. Impeccable design all around. The food? I can't begin to tell you how delicious. The dinner special that evening was a morel pasta that was to die for! The Brussels sprouts were some of the best I've ever had with a perfectly balanced combo of textures and flavors. I am a lover of French onion soup, and though it was quite tasty, I wouldn't put it at the top of my list. Our server was so helpful and enthusiastic, which made the whole visit phenomenal.

Beautiful Saturday afternoon and a beautifully curated restaurant. Located inside 21c Hotel, this spaces sits off to the left of the lobby and has a very open concept. The design has an artful feel which fits with the theme of the museum. A tad too chilly for the patio, I was seated at a table to the left of the bar that offered a comfortable bench side and a chair side. The bar has a few small tvs above, not enough to be overly distracting, but enough that it serves as focal if dining alone. This day was K.Derby day, so it was great to be able to see the race. 1st visit, I opted for a few tapas and salad. Spanish Caesar, no olives, jamon croquettes, patatas bravas. Funny enough, the salad came out last and took some time to do so. I had to ask for a check in on it. Croquettes came first, these were crispy on the outside and creamy cheesy inside. Not much ham, but very tasty and enjoyable. Patatas were an ample size, definitely enough for 2 to enjoy. Flavors worked well and I personally thought they would be more perfect if the potatoes had a little more crispy on the outside for some texture to the dish. Caesar was fresh and delicious, a huge bowl this is perfect as a light meal. I enjoyed how the salad was served in a layered way and the croutons were crushed which offered great texture throughout. Overall, a delicious experience.

This is such a unique hotel and restaurant! Food was great, service was excellent, drinks were delicious! If you haven't seen the beautiful decor of this place, do yourself a favor and book a resy. Bonus: there is a a free art exhibit on the second level that is definitely worth visiting!

If the cotton candy doesn't hook you... the rest of this meal will! Idol Wolf's menu mirrors the art museum above it--every dish feels like its own exhibition! We kicked things off with tapas (the Gambas al Ajillo and Jamón Croquettas... unreal) before diving into the raciones: carved strip steak and roasted salmon--each one a masterpiece of flavor. And just when we thought it couldn't get any better... out came the complimentary cotton candy--the sweetest surprise ending to cap off an unforgettable evening.

Idol Wolf's Happy Hour is a Day Drinkers dream. The Happy Hour is daily, that means 7 days a week and is only 3-5 PM. Which is plenty of time to enjoy yourself in a art deco bar. I'm a vodka man, so $5 vodka cocktails are right up my alley. Then to cut the booze, they offer a $10 Cheeseburger that is served with fries. The Smoked Cheddar, Lager Braised Red Onion and Tomato Jam, makes the burger a steal at $10. It is worth so much more. The bartender was a master of this craft. He made one variation of a Dirty Martini, that thrilled me and my friend. Bonuses that I like, they've got outlets and hooks under the bar. Makes it easy for charging and hanging a messenger bag or backpack. If you are a day drinker, you gotta check Idol Wolf out. The crowd is super friendly and like most hotel bars, everyone talks to everyone.

A group of girlfriends and I went to Idol Wolf last night. The entire experience was amazing! Parking street or lot parking, we were somehow able to find a spot close to the restaurant despite it being March Madness. The decor was stunning. All of our beverages were delicious. For the most part we ordered a lot of tapas to share. There was not a single bite that we did not all enjoy. The tuna on toast and agnolotti were my favorites. Our server was attentive and helpful. We spoke with the manager in passing and he was also great. We will definitely be back.

Made it to Idol Wolf again earlier this week and had an equally great experience! I went with a few other friends, we ordered 9 plates for the 3 of us and that was plentiful. Service was quick, food was warm and delicious and prices were reasonable! Love the mobile penguins that can sit with us at our table too! The carpaccio was a great dish as was the tuna! The bread was delicious. Great evening!

Ask the Community - IDOL WOLF

    Are there good vegetarian options?

    Yes, especially with the appetizer

    What is the dress code?

I don't think there's a dress code. This is a restaurant based in a hotel, so there is flexibility. I suggest looking at interior shots to get a glimpse as to how customers dress.

    Is this place kid friendly?

The menu isn't great for kids but they are welcoming to them. My six year old went and we just brought a pb&j for him. They were just fine with it.

I literally live a 4 minute walk from here and have no idea why it took me this long to check it…read moreout. I took my boyfriend here last night for his 24th birthday celebration, and boy did it exceed every expectation. When we first arrived, we were taken aback by the waterfall feature at the front door. We genuinely thought we were at the wrong entrance. Turns out it was entirely intentional, and in the excitement of the evening, we forgot to ask about the story behind it. A fun little mystery to solve on our next visit. We arrived about 30 minutes early and were welcomed warmly from the moment we walked in. The staff gave us a lovely intimate table with a great view of the restaurant's eclectic decor and designs. The ambiance struck the perfect balance, lively and engaging without being so loud that we could not have a real conversation, which for my partner and me is genuinely one of the most important aspects of a dining experience. Since we both work incredibly busy schedules, this was not only a birthday celebration but our first proper date night in quite a while, and the atmosphere made it feel truly special. The staff even surprised us with a complimentary prosecco for the birthday, something we were absolutely not expecting and deeply appreciated. On the drinks side, although I am not personally a big drinker, my boyfriend loves exploring new spirits and cocktail combinations. The bartenders were fantastic: knowledgeable, approachable, and genuinely enthusiastic about their recommendations across both wines and spirits. They made the whole experience feel curated rather than transactional. Now, let me tell you about Jelly. Our server Jelly was, without question, the highlight of the entire evening, and that is saying a lot given how spectacular everything else was. I have a severe pineapple allergy, and if you dine out with food allergies, you know the usual routine. The server writes it down, maybe glances at it when the food arrives, and you spend the whole meal quietly hoping for the best. Jelly was on an entirely different level. She went completely above and beyond, meticulously checking every food option and wine pairing to ensure nothing contained pineapple and that there was zero risk of cross contamination. When a wine bottle did not clearly list its ingredients, she did not guess or assume. She looked it up on the internet right then and there to confirm it was safe for me. That gesture might sound simple, but for someone with a severe allergy, it is everything. It communicates that she genuinely cared about my wellbeing, not just about getting through her tables for the night. I felt completely taken care of, safe, and able to relax and enjoy myself without the anxiety that usually accompanies dining out with an allergy. Jelly, if you ever read this: thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are exceptional at what you do and an absolute asset to Blood & Sand. And now, the food, which was nothing short of breathtaking. From the presentation, to the pacing and timing, to the extraordinary depth of flavor on every plate, the food at Blood & Sand is spectacular and amazing in the truest sense of both words. My boyfriend and I had the 5 course tasting menu with wine pairings. We had originally hoped for the 10 course, but it was not being offered that evening. No matter, because the 5 course delivered more than enough to leave us completely floored. The evening opened with a palate initiator of carrots, goat cheese, and walnuts. I will be honest, I was not excited. Carrots and goat cheese are genuinely two of my least favorite foods on the planet. But I gave it a try and it was absolutely heavenly. A perfect encapsulation of what this kitchen does: it takes ingredients you think you know and transforms them into something you cannot stop thinking about. My absolute favorites of the evening were the tuna carpaccio, the wagyu flank steak, and the pierogis. Each one was cooked and composed to perfection. Everything melted in my mouth and left me wishing the courses would never end. My one constructive note is on the oyster course. I love oysters and eat them often, so I was genuinely looking forward to this one. The portion, two very small oysters with modest accompaniments of horseradish, a small salsa, and lemon, felt a little light even by tasting menu standards. I would love to see either four oysters at that size or two larger ones. It was gone so quickly and felt slightly out of step with the generosity of every other course. That small note aside, Blood & Sand delivered one of the most memorable dining experiences I have had in a long time. Every single person on that floor, from the bartenders to the host to the incredible Jelly, went above and beyond to make the night comfortable, fun, intimate, and genuinely special. We will absolutely be back, and next time I will not wait so long given that I practically live next door.

    30. The place was pretty empty/ maybe 3 other tables while we were there. (that's a bad sign)…read moreWe originally had reservations for 8 but one person couldn't attend so we arrived with 7. The menu had printed that the 5 course tasting menu was only for parties of 6 or less. We inquired knowing it may not be able to happen since we had 7, but it was worth a try since it was just one more person. The waitress said she would have to ask the chef to see if he could do 7 instead of 6..... she came back to inform us that the chef was not able to accommodate this request. Ok, fine. A rule is a rule, but there were only 3 other tables in there the entire time we dined. I love music and a good vibe but the music was so loud over our table we could hardly hear each other speak. (90s Cranberries at that).... The cocktails and apps were the only good part of the meal, but $25 for one cocktail is a stretch unless I'm in Vegas or St. Barths. All of our main entrees were overly salted- like so salty we all commented how salty each of ours was. I had the pasta. Good flavor and creamy but too salty. No decaf coffee. I've never been to a fine dining restaurant that doesn't have decaf for an after dinner drink. Strange. Then it was time to pay. There was a noted 3% credit card fee. We paid with cash. The waitress attempted to say she didn't think she would have change because "there was no one working that had to cash to break our bills." Really? No one has cash at a restaurant? Must be next door with the decaf coffee and dinner music. The cherry on top that leads me to write a negative review (I am in my 40s and can never recall leaving a negative ereciew) The friend that made the reservation just found a $200 charge to her credit card from this joke of a restaurant. Ends up they charge the card you make your reservation with $25 per person and supposedly take this amount off the bill when you pay... we paid with cash and then they still charge the card. I'm well aware hardly anyone pays with cash anymore, but people still do. Be ready. Everything about this place screams closing in 18 months, poor quality control in the kitchen and no owner/management oversight.

The space is intimate, stylish, and perfectly appointed -- the kind of place that feels like you've stumbled into a secret little jewel box in the city. It's cozy in the best possible way, with an atmosphere that invites laughter, celebration, and maybe just a little fabulous mischief. The bartenders? Absolute pros. Warm, welcoming, and clearly masters of their craft. Naturally, I ordered my classic gin and tonic, and it was perfection in a glass -- crisp, balanced, and exactly what a proper G&T should be. I heard from the birthday boy and his wonderful wife that the owners were incredibly accommodating, and you could feel that hospitality throughout the entire evening. Everything felt effortless and welcoming -- the kind of place where people clearly care about creating a great night. And then... the party truly began. We had drag queens serving glamour and joy, music, laughter echoing through the room, and pizza delivered from the birthday boy's favorite local pizza spot that honestly deserves its own standing ovation. If you want to know where that pizza came from, drop a comment -- because it was outrageously good. By the end of the night I couldn't stop thinking: this place really is a Hidden Gem. I've been to a few, and most recently attended the "Taylor Swift: Bejeweled" experience. The space was decked out in all things Taylor, with every era clearly represented. Giant friendship bracelets hung from the ceilings and lined the walls, which was such a fun touch. And of course, there were plenty of photo ops with my close personal bff, Taylor herself! The drink menu was themed to match the eras, with tons of creative options. My friends and I tried several cocktails, along with a few NA options as well. I really appreciate that they offer non-alcoholic drinks as I've been cutting back on alcohol over the past few months, and it's nice to still have fun choices that actually taste good! The Mirrorball was easily my favorite drink of the night. It tasted just like an orange creamsicle and was served in a disco ball...so good and so fun. My last drink of the night was "So Long London," which was almost like a dessert in a glass. Highly recommend ending your night with that one!

The stairs are steep, so it would behoove you to hold on to the railing. While I love trying new places, I was a bit apprehensive because I thought I'd stick out like a sore thumb. Turns out, everyone was friendly, the drinks are great, and the music wasn't bad! They had different acts going on for this particular evening (I'm not sure if this is the norm), but I know my friend is a regular on Tuesday's for karaoke. I do intend to come back and try out some more drinks and food and check out the other place once it officially opens.

The staff were incredibly welcoming, which for me is always the biggest indicator of whether I'll enjoy a place. I arrived during their daily Happy Hour (4-6 PM) and ordered the crab dip with homemade crackers, while my friend tried one of their cocktails. Everything tasted delicious, and the staff remained very attentive throughout our visit. I was also impressed by the cleanliness and the interior design. I noticed a beautiful mural on the wall and later learned it is a portrait of one of the owner's mothers, how sweet is that? If you're thinking about stopping by this new downtown spot, don't hesitate! My only feedback is that the entrance can be a little difficult to find as the signage wasn't very visible to me, but that's it. Highly recommend!

They were just opening up for the evening and it took a few minutes to get served, but everyone was super friendly and I was impressed by the design/vibe inside. I ordered the strawberry rhubarb pie mixed drink which came with a little side of dessert. I loved the drink itself but the fruit in the dessert was definitely past its prime and I ended up eating around it. We also got the wash ave flatbread for the table. We all loved the crunch of the giardiniera on the flatbread and it was a great plate to split for the table. I do wish prices were included on the menus just for visibility. Would definitely stop in again to try another drink from the menu!
