Y'all! If you're looking for hot, fresh, tasty food in a family owned place, this is it…read more I did a search for "Hamburgers and fries" on Yelp after checking into my hotel because it had been a long day and I just needed some comfort food. Mandie's had a decent rating, was close by, and wasn't fast food, so I headed over. It's an unassuming little place, but they've made sure the signage is noticeable and added some big flags advertising their specialties. Inside is cute, with lots of Mardi Gras decor, and quaint yellow checked tablecloths. The menu was more extensive than I was expecting, but I decided to stick with my original burger & fries concept. The drive thru was busy, and there was only one young man working both the counter and the drive thru. Moving fast, but still offered a smile, a greeting, and a promise to be with me in just a moment. There was one cook in the back moving just as quickly. No one was dining in, and I suspect the dining room is busier at breakfast or lunch, as there are a lot of businesses in the area. The food was perfect. Hand-pattied burger, perfectly cooked and seasoned, toasted bun, melty cheese, and French fries that were HOT from a fresh fry, not from sitting under a warmer. Rounded out with a giant fountain drink for under $11. I wish I was going to be in the area longer so I could come back for a Po Boy, some crawfish, or some wings. Oh, and that young man ran the whole time I was there, but that didn't stop him from sticking his head into the dining room to make sure my food was just how I wanted it and ask if I needed a refill or anything. THAT is service. Give these folks a try.
