I recently had my boiler replaced with Einstein's Plumbing and Heating. The team was so professional! My family is on a budget but we wanted to make sure we were receiving quality work so that we don't run into expenses further down the line. I received estimates from about 6 different companies and the team at Einstein's were some of the most clear and professional about the work. Their admin team were able to schedule a site visit for an estimate free of charge at a time that worked for my family. The estimator arrived on time and was clear about what work would be performed, how long it would take, if there was a warranty, and what products they would use. The team not only delivered on their promise- but the pricing was competitive with other vendors who were unable to provide that level of information or return to install within a quick time frame. They accept cash, card, check and have a partnership with another company to do a payment plan if needed. BEWARE!! This is one of the most unprofessional and incompetent companies. They have no accountability for their work, no respect for their customers, and they try to vastly up-charge for services. Let's just start with the fact that they don't show up for multiple service call appointments made (as in, at least 2-3 made in advance for one service). And when you call their office, the secretary tells you one thing and the owner tells you something altogether different. And when you follow up after they don't show up within the given timeframes, after sitting at home almost all day for multiple appointments made, Joe the owner is completely disrespectful saying he would never come for the job you have lined up, as if it's beneath him, and he was never even planning on coming for the appointments HIS SECRETARY set up MULTIPLE TIMES. Not to mention the secretary also makes assurances, prior to, that as an existing customer, service fees aren't higher on the weekend/evenings, nor is there a diagnostic fee to look at a job. Yet when speaking with the owner (after waiting for days for him to show up for a job), and noting how many missed appointments and time how much time he's wasted of the customer's, he decides to be cute, saying it would be 3x the amount that it normally would be for him to even come for the job, and couldn't even come the day scheduled. Then to have him be insulting and hang up the phone, to top it off. No professionalism. No respect. Not to mention their basic maintenance work is subpar, and messy at that. Chemicals from boiler maintenance spilled on a wood floor, damaging property and taking no responsibility when addressed by the customer, claiming it wasn't them, yet property wasn't damaged prior to their visit. Hire a company that stands by their work and values their customers, and avoid this company at ALL costs. read more

Their expedient service, honesty and professionalism won us over immediately. A recent New York City law requires owners of a new gas range to hire a Master Plumber to install the appliance. Apparently there have been too many explosions caused by faulty setups. I called Einstein Plumbing based on their great website, and boy did I do the right thing. Joe and Tom showed up exactly when they said they would, first inspecting the gas pipes and then popping up two days later at the times they said they would. Short version: These guys are basically thugs. They misled me about what they were doing, gouged me (5x price of competitors), and got upset when I asked any questions. Seems others have the same issues given their multiple closed Yelp accounts... Longer version: Two guys came into the house to look at the air conditioners. After claiming they would "plug in the gauges" and take a look, they filled up the unit with $1,000+ of refrigerant without asking me if that was ok. Then, they tried to gaslight me into thinking I had given them approval. The price they quoted for the refrigerant was a roughly 30x markup over wholesale, and 5x higher than competitor A/C repair companies are charging (I got quotes after). They got upset and aggressive, raising their voices when I pointed that out. I asked them to remove the refrigerant. They refused and said it would be an $800 charge to remove it. After a lot of hemming and hawing, they said they would "cut me a deal", and charge me "just" $900, but only if I paid in cash right then and there, as if that was a favor. They have 2 other Yelp accounts with similar bad reviews. After moving into our new apartment, we noticed a sewer smell in the bathroom and called Einstein's Plumbing to come take a look as suggested by the previous owners. They responded quickly and replaced the wax seal between the toilet and the floor, although at a cost that seemed a bit high. However, after they finished the work, the toilet would rock back and forth, even though we did not sit on it for 24 hours. So I called them and they came to fix it the next day, reapplying the sealant around edge. The next day, the problem still remained and so they came back again to fix the problem. The third time, the issue was finally fixed. I was also interested in ultimately replacing the toilets in our bathrooms with specific models I had chosen and asked them how much it would cost. The price they quoted was completely outlandish. I ultimately ended up getting the toilets and having them installed for less than half the price that Einstein quoted. When the toilets were installed, the person who installed them noted that a metal plate on the floor was installed backwards. I asked if this could cause the wax seal and smell issues we were seeing and he said it is very likely. The plumbers from Einstein never even noticed this. Given all of this, it is very hard to recommend Einstein's Plumbing. Yes, they are nice and they respond quickly, but they are extremely overpriced and I question the quality of their work given they had to return twice to fix the same issue. read more

I had a burst copper water line with good access for the plumber.. An apprentice (not a plumber) showed up, looked at the job, then walked away from me to make a secret call to his boss. He came back and told me the price is $750. I told him to leave. The next day I had an actual plumber fix it for $180. Consider that! read more

First off, I'm perplexed at all the negative reviews posted regarding Einstein's Plumbing and Heating. I'm sharing my experience as outlined below: I don't feel I have the words to describe how great Joe and Einsteins Plumbing Inc were to us but I'll do my best to convey in short and in specific details when Joe and Josh visited our home on September 13, 2018.. Short Story: Terrific Service, prompt response (despite the Brooklyn traffic congestion) and worked with me regarding price. He treated our Brooklyn home with impeccable care and I will confidently leave my home to his care in regards to any future plumbing and heating needs. Long Story: We were in a bind with our clogged toilet/sewer line. We simply had a clog that frustrated a few plumbers. Joe Collins was highly recommended by my wife's friend and he did not disappoint. He and his staff were the utmost professional, giving me a quote ahead of time for the work. He shared if snaking the line didn't work, he wouldn't charge me. He was able to clean the delicate sewer line from our 120 year old house after much speculation from other plumbers that it was broken. He gave us sound advice on how to proceed going forward to ensure good flow. I am beyond satisfied. There are good, honest caring plumbers out there. This company charged over $800 to install two parts in the toilet tanks. They were a flapper and a ball cock - parts which cost about $20 total at Home Depot, and literally take about 15 minutes to replace. When I called the office to request an itemized bill, they said they were not able to provide one, and that the repairman had to do it, and they couldn't assure me he would. Despite saying that they guarantee their work, they absolutely do not. When the toilets were still not working properly after this usuriously expensive repair, I called asking for a serviceman to return. The man that I spoke with was quite rude and wanted to charge for another service call. When I responded that they should stand behind their work and I did not want to pay again, he told me I should call another plumber. The toilets are still not flushing properly. Call Einstein Plumbing only if you like over-paying and being treated rudely. read more

They tried to really price gouge me. I had a leak that was in a challenging spot in my house. The plumbing team they sent out were nice kids (no older than 23), but they quoted me $4000-$5000 as the ONLY fix for my problem (no restoration work included) Another licensed plumber that i called the next day for a 2nd quote fixed my problem and did drywall/restoration work for $400 all in. About 6-7hrs of work total. The plumber they sent switched into very hard sell/high pressure mode and offered me something like 5% off the price he quoted if i signed on the spot. I paid the diagnostic fee and cut my losses. I will never call them again. read more

I made the mistake of calling this place twice, because it is so highly rated. the rating is undeserved. The first time i called, a plumber came who refused to explain what was wrong with my toilet (a broken flushometer), was visibly intoxicated (painkillers?) and vomited in my broken toilet. Then, after I desperately agreed to an seemingly very high quote for the cheaper one of two options for sink repair, he actually further broke my bathroom sink in an attempt to repair it. he ultimately waved the service fee, and any charge, but i was left with more broken plumbing than I had when he arrived. The second time i called, a different and more competent-seeming plumber arrived. again I was quoted two "options" one to complete half of the needed kitchen sink repairs for about $400 or all of the needed repairs for $800. When i complained about the cost, he offered to call the boss to ask for a discount. I suddenly realized my error in having called the same horrible plumbing service twice, and ate the service fee, calling a second plumber suggested by friends. This plumber did the full needed repairs for just under $400--less than half of what the Einstein's guy quoted. This place is a rip off, stay away. read more

Very responsive - very responsible We had an emergency leak. They came out early the next morning. Called before they arrived to say they were on their way. Joe, came in assessed the problem under our sink. Gave us a price, very reasonable , went out to his truck to get his materials needed. I came across Einstein plumbing after seeing reviews here, on yelp. We got a new boiler and water heater 3 years ago through another company. Unfortunately our experience with them was a nightmare, so I was forced to try another company when my heat wasn't turning on yesterday when the temperature dropped. I have to say other than there being a bit of a price difference, from what the young lady said on the phone and what the tech charged, (Just left a message to get some clarity on that) my experience with Einstein was great. I was able to get someone here the same day. ( the other company was giving me an appointment for a week from now). They came within the time stated. The tech was nice and respectful, he didn't try to sell me anything more. He identified the problem quickly, fixed it and I had heat in less than 20 mins. They accept credit cards and did it all pretty quickly. read more

I was distraught that the toilet of my main bathroom had again become clogged. This toilet had just been serviced a few weeks before this new overflow incident. Tom Annan arrived right on time. He explained that the previous work had not been thorough. He showed me the specific areas and parts that required attention. He quoted a fair price. I was relieved to cross this emergency off my list. I will certainly contact Einstein's again. read more

Rip Off! At first I was really appreciate of their timely response to my online inquiry, the auto reminder that I had an appointment, and the tracking system the day of the appointment. Our kitchen sink was clogged an none of the products we tried worked. The plumber told us we needed, "new waste piping on sink and snaking line to basement. Est. $769.00". We paid almost $100 the "trip fee" for someone to stand in my kitchen and give me quote. Didn't even pretend to look under the sink or fiddle with the basin. I was also told if the snaking broke the drainage pipe in the basement it wasn't their fault because apparently we shouldn't have tried to use a chemical product first. When our landlord sent a plumber the guys asked for a wrench and a plunger. After an hour, they used a snake and the sink was fine. No parts replaced. He actually tried doing something with the sink before giving a diagnosis for the problem. Save your money. I wish I had checked Yelp before I called these guys. read more

Called Einstein to snake a bathroom sink drain. Upon troubleshooting the problem the plumber determined that beyond snaking the drain all pipes below the sink needed to be replaced they quoted over $900 to replace the pipe below the sink base ( including the snake and service call) Literally a $15 piece of pipe. I understand professional mark ups and plumbers hourly rates but this is simply beyond ridiculous and clearly the plumber that was on site was trying to take advantage of an 80 year old home owner. We were scheduled for someone to come and look at a leak. The time frame was between 9:00 and 12:00 in the morning. When no-one showed up I called and instead of an apology I was told I really need to understand that there are emergencies and people without heat. RIPOFF! RIPOFF! RIPOFF! Unfortunately they had me over a barrel as I had a gas leak I needed to repair immediately. They charged me a ridiculous amount of money. They then had the nerve to give me a quote to replace my boiler which was thousands of dollars more then three other plumber's estimates. That's right not hundreds of dollars more, thousands of dollars more. Happy to say I used Control Plumbing for the new boiler and they did a magnificent job for way less money. Dave the plumber from Einstein Plumbing, removed a defective garbage disposal. He also provided and installed a new pull-out spout kitchen faucet. After the kitchen job was complete, he examined defective faucet handles and unwieldy sink drain rod in an upstairs bathroom. This was not part of the original job request, and he did not carry the necessary repair parts for the special fixtures, but he gave excellent instructions for a future fix, and he did not charge for the extra time. read more

She found another handyman who did the needed plumbing repairs and made several other needed repairs for exactly 1/5th ($600.00) of their quote.
