Great service, not sure about the hostess. But once you pass by that lady, the service was great. Food is good. Pretty authentic Mexican dish with pig's feet and cow's tongue. I had lamb tacos and pig's feet tostada. They gave us lemonade or limeade when I just wanted plain aqua.
Food was very good esp the moles. Staff can speak limited English. We ordered the cactus salad and the waiter asked if we wanted chicken. I asked if the chicken comes with the salad and he said yes. Maybe this is due to language barrier but when I received the bill, the chicken was an extra 86 pesos. Oh well
Excellent mole taco. We were on a culinary tour through CDMX and stopped at El Bajío, this place was great. The standout for me was the mole taco, which was excellent: rich, well-balanced, and clearly made with care. Service was solid and efficient, especially considering we had a fairly large group. They were accommodating and kept things moving without feeling rushed. Definitely a worthwhile stop if you're exploring classic Mexican flavors in Mexico City. The place was clean and very well laid out.
First night in Mexico City. This was recommended by our hotel. Food was classic Mexican with the local mole and salsa. Our waiter could not have been nicer. He was practicing his English while we mashed our Spanish yet we managed to find laugher. Colorful decor and festive decor gave the restaurant a friendly vibe.
A CDMX classic in the Polanco neighborhood. The food is excellent and it is packed with locals, business people and tourists alike. Definitely a terrific spot for lunch.
This place was my stop 2 of 7 places on my Polanco walking food tour. I had a cup of Mexican coffee and chicken mole. The Mexican coffee had some unique taste to it and the chicken mole was pretty good. Both were something that I don't think I will reorder in the future, but glad I tried it.

Delicious food and helpful staff. Very bright and welcoming place. We had pork, lamb, and crab tacos and thoroughly enjoyed them. Guacamole was amazing too!
Listen to this: I need more Latin cuisine practice. Estoy practicando hablar en español... but that's as far as I get. I love to try new foods and attempt the local language wherever I go... but still it's impossible to mask dumb: I ordered a delicious bowl of Eggs in Xalapa style tomato broth. It arrived but they brought tortillas.... Ok... maybe I should take the (what appeared to be) scrambled eggs out of the broth and into the tortillas? Maybe add some beans and salsa too? No, of course you cannot make tacos out of soup-- idiota!!!! I had to laugh at myself and only one passing server gave me the Rock's stanky eyebrow as broth squirted everywhere! This place is absolutely stunning. The views by the window, the food presentation, the artwork and decor inside and out: I loved it all. It was especially nice that this whole Palanco area is basically one big green park. Again, my Spanish isn't great and I need much more practice but the waitress and the management were so kind and supportive. I would definitely recommend this place for a solo adventurer but it's quaint and yummy enough for a nice group dinner.
Came here for lunch. We got the beef tongue, octopus tostadas, and 2 tacos (lamb and pork). My faves were the lamb taco (tender and strong lamb flavor) and the octopus tostadas (octopus pieces were pretty large and tender). The beef tongue had a different/softer texture than what I was used to, but was pretty good. The pork taco was pretty dry.
Amazing place, excellent service, great food, wonderful atmosphere, and beautiful decor. Celebrated a 93rd birthday here today and the waiters were very attentive taking care of everything. Started with appetizers of crispy tortillas and pork skins, guacamole and great hot sauces. We then had little baby taco like apps of cochinita pibil and chicken with potatoes. Awesomeness all around. Great desserts and plenty of tequila and wine flowing around. Lemonade was fresh, nice and tart. Definitely coming back for other menu items.
Delicious meal in a nice atmosphere. The restaurant itself is large and bright with nice artworks on the walls. Our meal was really good. We ordered the marinated skirt steak, side of mole, zucchini flower taco, beef tongue taco and a salad with mixed native vegetables. I can honestly recommend ALL of those dishes. The mole taste smokey with chocolate hints - delicious! The service is fast and efficient. We also loved the reasonable prices and nice portion sizes.
Service was great, food was magnificent and the weather was delightful! This is in must visit when in Mexico City, Polanco neighborhood.

The only good meal I had in Mexico City. Living in San Diego and visiting Tijuana for food quite often, I guess I'm used to above average restaurant experiences. I would've thought Mexico City had great food in general, but that wasn't the case. Was there for four days, ate many meals out and this was the only one I really enjoyed. Too bad the place was so hot and stuffy. It was cooler outside than it was inside. All they needed to do was open some windows. Service was great though. read more
Since I always stay at one of the hotels nearby, I try to come here on every visit, so I have been here several times over the last decade or so. I come here for the Molé, as it is a guarantee that it's going to be good and this time was no different. We came on a Friday night, and I thought it would be packed, but there was not a soul in the restaurant. We were seated and brought tortilla chips and salsa, and ordered margaritas. The chips were terrible, basically small, uncut tortillas that have been put on the fire and were actually burned. I did get them to bring more regular tortilla chips but they weren't great either. I find it difficult to get good tortilla chips here in CDMX but hey. Things went straight up from there, the Margaritas were the best I had here in Mexico City, one of the best that I have EVER had! We ordered quesadillas for a started, they were perfect. For the main, I had my usual- Chicken Molé- and it was definitely up to their standard- and some of the best Molé I have ever had. Service was a bit hit or miss, and suddenly I looked up and the place was packed! While there are many Mexican restaurants in the Polanco area, this one is a guarantee for a great Molé! read more

Came here for lunch. We got the beef tongue, octopus tostadas, and 2 tacos (lamb and pork). El Bajio is a great neighborhood restaurant. There were local couples, a birthday celebration, and travellers all dining there. There was plenty of room between tables to maintain social distancing. I am not a spanish speaker and they did everything possible to make sure I had a nice meal. I would have just had one side but I think they wanted to make sure I ate what I enjoyed and put a little of everything on my plate. The steak was tender and perfectly grilled. I will be coming back repeatedly to El Bajio. read more
Went to Mexico City in March and visited el Bajio. Located on Polanco, it was highly recommended thanks to trusty Yelp! My friend and I were starving after a long day of travel so we ventured for chicken mole, carnitas, barbacoa, empanadas de platano maduro (omg! Genius!), guacamole (the best I have had in a long time. This needs to be packed and sold!). Once you get your protein it's all game. Grab a freshly made tortilla, add your carnitas or barbacoa, onions, cilantro, tomatillo or aji sauce, and dig in. Repeat as many times as your stomach will allow. Wash it all down with margaritas on the rocks. Just like the Dr recommends! El Bajio is awesome and can't be missed! Looking forward to returning next time in CDMX. read more
I went to El Bajío for dinner because it was close to my hotel and I wanted some authentic Mexican food. I must say that I was a bit underwhelmed. I ordered the Mezcal Guava cocktail that was delicious but I didn't taste any alcohol in it or felt any buzz. They gave me complimentary chips and salsa but the chips were burnt, like did they serve this to me because I was a tourist. The majority of the chips were inedible. Next, I ordered the plantain empanada that was probably the best thing I had there. For an entree, I order the mole enchiladas; however, the server took it upon himself to add the cheese for an extra charge that I did not ask for and I do not eat a lot of dairy. I had to scoop it off and put it to the side even though I was paying extra for it. Though the server did that, he was friendly and the restaurant is very well decorated. However, I would not return or recommend. read more

Even though it was only 10:40am we changed our mi da and opted for lunch instead of breakfast. This restaurant is definitely a full-service establishment, with valet parking and a super professional staff. The am incentive is casual, and they have plenty of seating options on the sidewalk, which is what we enjoy. We started off with a. Purple of pastries and two glasses of orange juice. After that it was our time to order. I decided on pork ribs in spicey sauce, and my husband's order was the cured beef steak. After a short time, and several Mexican songs from the duo Street performers, our platters were delivered to our table. The ribs were freshly made, and my husband also gave high marks for his beef steak. We had a good dining experience here. read more

Great spot near Reforma Avenue. This was our spot many years ago, but haven't been back in a while. The visit didn't disappoint- friendly service and food served hot with flavors right on point. Valet Parking is available. Definitely will be back. read more
This is an excellent, friendly, comfortable restaurant. We shared a plate of chicken mole (I posted a photo) for a late dinner, which the kitchen split for us. Don't you love it when you go to a restaurant with high expectations because of all the excellent Yelp reviews and it is even better than you expected!? I stay at the JW in Mexico every time I'm in town for work, which is usually twice a year or so. I've been doing that for nearly two decades and yet I've never eaten at El Bajío, which is at most a 2 min walk from the hotel. We ate dinner here last night and the food, service, and cocktails were all outstanding. We order a wide selection of food and ate family style. Some highlights: - Chicharron (fried pork skin) and guacamole - Quesadillas selection of all different types from different regions of Mexico - Tacos ... shrimp and beef Best of all? Inexpensive. This restaurant is one of those gems that is highly rated, but is actually underrated. read more

Grandma always says the hotter the happier. I used that same advice when I met my wife. So when I got up to use the restroom grandma seized the opportunity to load up my tacos with this crazy hot sauce. It was so hot I started sweating and crying. The amazing servers came running out with milk which only dulled the pain!! Grams was laughing so hard she had coffee coming out of her nose. I've decided to return grandma's Christmas gift!!!!! read more

I visit Mexico City often and love this place. Conveniently located in Polanco, it is a few steps away from the JW Marriott, Intercontinental and Hyatt Regency. The tacos, tortilla soups and drinks are amazing. But my favourite dish here is without a doubt the mole; dark, savory and delicious. Perfect spot for a casual lunch or a family meal. Their outdoor area is very nice and the service is consistently good. read more
