I cannot say more about this place, but worth a shot. Hands down the best Mediterranean food in Omaha. The times I've eaten and visited here the food and staff have been phenomenal! I love how it's small but it has that surreal welcoming vibe with authentic decor and food. The prices for the food is worth every single penny...definitely get bang for your buck. Usually order the gyro combo, and wow. Cannot get any more flavorful, tender, and scrumptious added to the meal. It's well cooked and prepared. Also there's a small patio outside by the parking lot and enclosed to still have privacy and serenity. There are a lot more food choices and side dishes that I will be trying next time. I never thought I would find an authentic Lebanese restaurant in Omaha, but El Basha came through like a beacon of light in a sea of American style food. Off of busy Pacific and 72nd, El Bash is situated in a small strip mall with a pain in the butt parking lot. It's worth the painful navigation and parking for sure. Upon walking up, various workers were outside of the cute patio area smoking shisha and singing along to the beautiful sounds of Fairuz. As a Lebanese American, it was like coming home. The restaurant is small but intimate. It's decorated with various Mediterranean pictures, hamsas and lush, dark flowers. You go up to the the counter to order and it is brought to your table. We chose the beef shawarma platter and the falafel wrap platter, and hummus and pita. Both came with drinks and were around the $12 price mark per person-which is a fair price for the huge amount of food you are given! You pay when you order and tip then as well, which I didn't really like. I prefer to tip after based on service. The beef shawarma was amazing-tender and seasoned perfectly on a bed of crisp greens. Yellow rice pilaf was included-nothing too special, but w good companion to the spiced beef. This platter came with a side of lentil soup which was immaculately spiced but not something I would choose on my own. The falafel wrap was good but came in a tortilla rather than lavash or a pita, which was a little strange. The falafel was warm and delicious. It came with pickled veggies, lettuce and tomatoes. I chose the potatoe side which was a cold potato salad/mashed potatoes hybrid. That was also served on lettuce. The hummus is AMAZING and I highly suggest you get a bowel to share! Incredibly creamy with a great tahini flavor. The pita was not housemade but warmed nicely so it was a great companion to the hummus. The guys next to us worked there and were outside smoking a hookah which I will definitely try the next visit. And there will def be a next visit! I can see this becoming a fav of mine. read more

My only tiny complaint is they are often out of the beef shawarma, which is so darn delicious....I'm a huge fan of the stuffed grape leaves as well ! After being in Israel & falling in love with the food, I did a search to see what I could find that was comparable. I've been to a few places that serve falafel & hummus, but this place is my favorite . The food is full of flavor & is healthy & fresh. I want to try everything on their menu. The staff is very nice too. I just went & didn't know we couldn't eat inside & there were a few more things my friend wanted but they couldn't accommodate for, but the cashier was very sweet & doing his best. We ordered take out this past weekend. I just wanted to comment on the Kafta Wrap. It's delicious! I was disappointed that they were out of the Beef Shawarma, my go to at El Bash, but the recommend Kafta Wrap did not disappoint. The meat was heavily seasoned and the pickles cut the nicely with a sharp tang. Complimented the fresh tomatoes and onions and a nutty tahini sauce, the Kafta Wrap fully satisfied my El Basha craving this weekend. read more

I really enjoy the Chicken Shawarma from here. The taste is amazing and it's hard to find good Shawarma in Omaha. Only knock is you don't get much chicken so I always ask to pay for extra and I still don't think they give much extra. Its okay though because its that good. As soon as you walk in, the smell of herbs and spices fill the air, and you know the food's going to be a flavorful excursion. There are so many dishes to choose from where does one even begin? I've been here once before, but the menu still looks just as daunting. Nevertheless, I decided to go with one of their daily specials, the beef shish kabob. Cubes of marinated beef sat atop a bed of lightly dressed salad greens along with grilled mushroom and zucchini, drizzled in tahini sauce. You get a hefty bowl sized amount of saffron rice, lightly garnished with pomegranate seeds and a sprinkle of red powdered spice that gave it a bit of a kick. The beef was a little tough and chewier than I was expecting, but what it lacked in texture, the seasoning made up for! Their was so much flavor infused into those beef cubes and the tahini sauce did an amazing job at bringing them out. The daily special comes with a side of salad or lentil soup. I went with the salad to be 'healthy' but I really should've gone with the soup. The salad was drenched in a very acidic dressing that was not very sensitive to my taste buds. If you're also looking to incorporate some greens into your meal, your main dish will come with some. So save yourself the regret, and get the soup instead. I tried a bite of my friend's chicken shawarma with hummus (subbed for baba ganoush at no extra cost) and it was quite delicious as well! However, my other friend's beef shawarma was very dry and crusty, the sauce helped but there was very little of it. They might've just been having an off night, because my other friend seemed to like her beef shawarma wrap. Baba ganoush! When I hear this, I can't help but picture a middle aged middle eastern man. We looked it up and according to wikipedia, baba means "father" and ganoush could be a personal name. So we weren't too far off haha. Intrigued by the name, I decided on the chicken shawarma with hummus ($9.32 with tax) and subbed the hummus with baba ganoush. I was surprised when it came out with 4 halves of pita bread, fries, and veggies as this was listed under appetizers! I didn't care for the chicken shawarma (thinly sliced and too dry, although the garlic sauce on top of it was great!), but the baba ganoush was deeeelicious. Basically like hummus, but instead of chickpeas, it's eggplant that imparts a great smokey flavor. Pita was thinner than I'm used to, but warm and soft in the middle. Fries were limp and strangely sweet - I seriously thought they were sweet potato fries for a while. Meat wise, I think I'll try the gyro or a shish kabob next time. The cashier told me he preferred gyro and that it was thicker than beef shawarma. My friend's beef shish kabob was nicely seasoned and more tender than my other friend's beef shawarma. Order at the counter, you get a cup to fill with a drink of your choice, grab your own utensils, and they bring your food to your table. Redone menu has fantastic results! We love El Basha and were surprised at the new menu we ordered from last night. There were new options and our regular standards: Schwarmas, gyros and Kafka salad! El Basha... First time I came here, I wasn't impressed. Decided to come back and give it another try because I was craving middle eastern food. I came out and the place redeemed itself. I really enjoy this place. I get the the El Basha Special platter and I've gotten it several times now. It's delicious and such a filling meal. I never finish it at the restaurant and always get to take home left overs. The gyro meat is always full of flavor and the chicken kabob is retains its juices. I also loveeeee the doner kabob! So flavorful! Definitely not the best ever but one of the best here in Omaha here for sure. I didn't realize that Omaha charges so much tax just to eat out. It's 10% literally. But I guess I can't complain when I believe the food is worth it! PS. The lentil soup is the bomb dot com! I choose that over the salad when ordering my platter. I FI-NAL-LY made it here after years of recommendations from my friends and fellow yelpers. There's just something about the location that has always kept me away -- I think it has to do with the fact that the strip mall El Basha is in has the worst, most counter-intuitive parking lot I've ever come across. I mean every time I turn right, I'm supposed to go left according to those little yellow arrows painted on the asphalt. And then there're those barrier poles which cut the parking lot in half, separating me from turning around and going the right way. Well anyway, that has nothing to do with the food and vibe of El Basha, which is all around delicious, unpretentious and relaxing. I went familiar sounding wraps, the kafta and the falafel. As others have noted the pita is super-thin, about the same thickness as a flour tortilla. Inside was a variety of goodness: notes of mint and dill in the tahini sauce that accompanied both the kafta (seasoned minced beef) and the falalfel (which had a hint of curry). Both were fantastic, if not a bit on the messy side. That said, you'll want to grab a fork when you're eating in. As for sides, I tried the fries, which I'll skip next time as they were bland and underwhelming compared to either wrap. Maybe I should've opted for a hookah instead. read more

Disappointed in my experience tonight. Placed a pickup order - the gentleman wasnt the happiest person which can be overlooked (the service industry can be frustrating). I let that go but the food was awful. The gyro was weirdly mushy, the pita was so over cooked we couldn't eat the sandwich. Food was overly cold (can happen with pick up). Mushy fries. Rice was hard. Bummed this happened as I've always loved El Basha but it's been like this the last couple of visits; the quality has gone downhill. read more

I ordered the Mezza plate since it had such rave reviews. Maybe i caught the cook on a bad day, but the babaganoush and hummus was so incredibly tart, that I could not eat it. It tasted as if someone had dumped in an entire bottle of apple cider vinegar into it. I've had both many times before both in and outside of Omaha and I've never had super tart hummus nor Babaganoush, it truly was inedible and ended up throwing it out, tabbouleh was just ok as was the falafel, but I was so turned off by the sourness of everything on the plate, I just couldn't eat it Thankfully i also ordered the gyro, which was pretty tasty, but i still like Jennie's Greek Village better. Hit up El Basha for the first time in a long time for lunch. I have always enjoyed their food, I don't know why I don't go more often. As per usual, I ordered a falafel wrap so I could administer falafel to my tummy via my face. Pretty tasty! The wrap remained structurally integrated, which is always a plus! Wrapped in foil, cut in half, I saved half of it for later. Later turned out to be a few bites every half hour until I had finished it four hours after getting home. I ordered a combo meal, so it came with fries and a drink. The fries were pretty close to the shoestring variety, a little thicker I think, which is my preference. I had dribbled some of the tahini on my plate and it was super yummy on my fries! I'm so adventurous. The joint was busy, experiencing at least two waves of lunch rush while I was there. The dude at the counter was pleasant and courteous and it seemed as if everyone was pitching in to get food delivered to customers in a timely manner. They're hiring, by the way! read more

My kids are picky even with their chicken tenders and my kids love this place as well the fries are crispy . What a hidden little gem! Tucked away in a nondescript shopping mall plaza off 76 and Pacific, El Basha is definitely a surprise like. The moment you walk in the door, you're greeted with a comfy, welcoming decor... it reminded me of being at my grandparents. Really cozy and warm. You order at the front and an employee brings out your food when it's ready. Okay so food wise... my husband and I decided to share two dishes... the veggie wrap platter and the falafel wrap. The "platter" option is available on most of their wraps and for a couple of dollars more, it includes a large size of shoe-string fries and a pop. Both wraps were delicious... I think I liked the falafel wrap more though. All the ingredients were fresh and delicious. Portions are HUGE... we totally could have gotten away with just sharing one platter for lunch. (In fact, we took home 1/2 of an untouched wrap to eat for lunch the next day.) At $20 with tip for the two meals, it a steal of a deal. Excited to try this place again! read more
