I was visiting from out of town and was thrilled to see this restaurant right next-door to the hotel, I was staying in. After being seated, I was offered the traditional chips and salsa, which were very good. I ordered a cheese quesadilla, which was probably the smallest one I've ever seen in my life. It tasted very good. After the chips, quesadilla, and a couple of beers I was full. The customer service and the feel of the restaurant made the night even better. In the past 5 years we have enjoyed eating at El Bracero. It was our first choice of where we wanted to go, more often than not. There was no other restaurant in Hopkinsville we went to over and over. The quality of their food could be trusted to be consistently good. My favorite was their Ribeye Fajitas which I again ordered twice in January 2025. Big disappointment!! The waitress and the cook declared that they didn't serve the meat in strips for Fajitas, only in the chopped meat form. They have a new menu so I assumed they had stopped serving that excellent rib eye steak. However I decided to return and check the menu once more in case I was confused. I saw ribeye steak advertised on the new menu as "stockyard fresh never frozen" and I ordered it medium rare. It came well done... with too many ill tasting multiple fat chunks within. Previously their steak was well marbled and tasty. No longer the case--the quality of their meat is now terrible with a strong greasy flavor. On the second occasion I showed the waiter the over done steak and he came back out with a bloody rare steak , inside temperature cold. I took it home and fed it to my dogs. Unless they hire a chef who knows the difference between medium well, medium rare and blood rare, knowing how to prepare steak properly and go back to their previous meat provider I suggest you skip their rib eye. We walked over from a nearby hotel to have dinner here. We were promptly seated, as on a Thursday night it was not overcrowded. Service was prompt and efficient. We both ordered fajitas, and found the portions to be large and the drinks icy cold. To me, the restaurant had a certain smell to it. We dined inside and we couldn't quite figure out the source. Wasn't a yummy smelling food smell, but not bad enough to leave. Food always comes out quick, fresh and tasty. Today my chile relleno tasted frozen. I was really looking forward to have it. It was meh! My tostada was okay. Presentation was missing from my plate today. She probably stayed hiding in the kitchen knowing my chile was frozen. LOL!! Salsa was good. My grand daughter ate her quesadilla. My husband ate his carne asada. He said it was very tender and tasty, as well as the rice and refried beans. Why me???? It was only my order. We had enjoyed dinner here before. We had a 15 top and they sat us quickly. We ordered pitchers of margs and beer and they were both great and cheaper than expected. The queso is tasty, however the chips were kind of stale. I'm staying at the nearby Best Western for, like, five weeks and since this is the closest eatery within walking distance - because I don't have a car - I have had more meals here than I care to count. Luckily, the service is almost always on point and the meals are generally delicious. I tend to go with either the fajitas or molcajente, because for around the same price as any other entree why not have your food served up in a massive stone bowl that looks like it could serve as the vessel for a heart during a Mayan ritual sacrifice? Plus, it's packed with shrimp, chicken, beef, onions, peppers, cheese, and green salsa. Throw some of that stuff in a warm flour tortilla and you got a good time going, friend. I don't do margaritas because they're usually gross, but they are able to make something called a "skinny margarita" here that uses fresh lime juice instead of a mix. Now, finding a bartender in here who knows just how to make it is a challenge but last time we asked Rafael, who I think is the manager, and he was able to make us a batch no problemo. The house chips & salsa are tasty but be sure to ask for a small bowl of the "hot stuff". Mix a little in to the house salsa to taste and it kicks that up a few solid notches. read more

I went here on Mothers Day 2021, experiences may vary. I picked up my food to go, and it tasted great. My only problem was that I paid for extra tortillas and didn't get any at all. They were on the receipt so I know I paid for them but they were not included. I realized it early, but the the lobby had a line out the door and to be honest the juice wasn't worth the squeeze. This one is better than the El Braceros in Clarksville because the guy at the bar there is an entitled a-hole with a short man complex and no customer service qualities at all. All people want when they spend money at an establishment is good food and a little dignity and gratitude. I won't be spending a dime there and I won't recommend anyone I know to eat at that El Braceros, but the Hopkinsville branch is a strong A- in my book. read more

The waiter came by and got the drink orders and we also order food. Next, the food came out quickly and I had order tortillas with my meal to eat with my meal and never got them. The waiter did not come back till basically my food was cold and I was no longer hungry.
