My last review for Las Fuentes was a five star for Yelp. I now retract it! I was given a 20% discount for the meals I charged on my Visa debit card. The total was $16.94. I have my receipt from Las Fuentes Restaurant in Hopkinsville, Kentucky for that exact amount. My 2nd time here and had I had a Yelp account the first time, it would have been 4 stars. Now it's 2. I don't know what happened to this place. My boyfriend and I went here last Tuesday night. It wasn't busy, but we couldn't get waited on. He had to actually ask the guy at the counter to send someone over. The food was so-so, honestly. I had the Carnitas with black beans and they were just bland. I mean, like Chipotle bland. My bf had the shrimp quesadilla and wasn't knocked out, either. He had a beer and I had a margarita. Order was wrong, food was semi-warm, cheese not melted, corn tortillas not thoroughly cooked, weak canned enchilada sauce, disappointing enchiladas. Also my date had a chimichanga and it was almost cold, no cheese in the filling, and the wrapping on the chimi was soggy not crispy. Guacamole was decent, chips were over fried/stale. We didn't want to eat at a chain restaurant while on a road trip. We had a pretty good experience here. It is in a strip mall and is kind of a dive, but the food was good. My husband and I both had the Enchiladas Banderas. Chicken rolled inside 3 corn tortillas. Each topped with a different sauce: red, green and queso. Served with rice, shredded lettuce, pico de gallo, sour cream and guacamole. The house margaritas were neon green which was unexpected. Not what we are used to, but refreshing. The food is pretty good, one of the best places in Hopkinsville. The reason for only three stars is the owners son. He has been the one that normally answers the phone when we call in a delivery. He will flat out lie and say they are not delivering that night. We have gone in to pick up our delivery and their driver is sitting there waiting for delivers to be called in. He is just flat out lazy and if did his job correctly I would enjoy this place much more. Tonight we called back and got someone else and guess what, they are delivering. Edit: Since this review we have had nothing but issues out of this place. Going in the service is decent, but any orders for delivery are screwed up. They either don't pick up the phone so we can place an order, or they ignore any their incoming orders from the website. Both of these have happened several times over the last couple of months. My wife is now in the restaurant to pick up our order that was never delivered. The owners son can't seam to find the order, but somehow knows what it was that we ordered. It's my favorite place to sit down and enjoy some chips and salsa and queso. I always get their enchiladas, but everything is amazing when I've tasted friends food. Horrible. From the beginning. The part that floored me the most was I had to take empty Chip basket and cups to the server station for refills. They take a plate from each table as it gets done I was told. I waited about 20 mins after my family got there food for my plate. I asked the server 3 times and she responded I just take orders. Then when the guy running the food brings it out I ask him if this is how it is usually done a little from each table and he tells me yes when it comes out we send it out. The reason I am not giving it one star is because it wasn't the worst food I'd ever had. The reasons I am giving it two stars are as follows: ~The food did not come out together. My taco salad came out first and my three year old granddaughter had to stare at my food sitting in front of me while she waited on hers. ~When my granddaughter's food came out, her cheeseburger was hot and seemed to be fresh, but her fries were cold, under cooked, and so greasy they were inedible. ~While there was a good amount of meat in my deluxe taco salad, the meat was extremely gristly and difficult to eat. There was also no guacamole and the salad had been topped with sliced avocado instead. The flavor was just okay. ~Some of the chips seemed stale or overcooked, but others were fine, leading to question if maybe there were old chips mixed in with new, or someone had dumped uneaten chips left behind by other diners back into the container with the new chips. ~The waitress did not check on us at all while we were eating and only returned after we'd finished up and were almost ready to go. I hope we just caught this place on an off day, but based on today's experience, I'll not be back. read more
