Vecinidad de Seattle is a step up from the usual Mexican restaurants in the quality and level of the preparation. Everything here is just a little bit more interesting than in your average place. It's not really a fancy slow-food kind of place, but it's closer than most Mexican restaurants you'll visit. They did an excellent job with the interior, and a third of the floor space is dedicated to a mock up of the set of the "El Chavo del Ocho", and you can watch Don Ramon getting slapped by Doña Florinda on the television as you enjoy your meal. Service is attentive and knowledgeable about the food and the menu. The appetizers are excellent: The taquitos were the biggest hit, and be warned that the stuffed Jalapeños were full on burners and not for the meek (seeds are not removed). It would have been even better had they'd been a little more roasted, but I'd definitely order them again. Every one of the plates I've tried: the Tlayuda, the Tortilla Soup, Tongue in Salsa Verde, and especially the Torta de Chilaquiles were excellent. The Torta was my favorite, from its crusty loaf that was grilled first, then filled with chilaquiles, eggs, and eggs, and chorizo. I'm going to have a hard time not ordering it every time I go. The menu was changed between my last two trips, and the current menu is now on a spiral ring binder as opposed to the paper menu that was given before. The new menu mirrors the online menu. Gone is the lengua in salsa verde and the pozole. Descansa en paz! It's a little more expensive, as noted before by others, but you're getting a bigger bang for your buck in taste and quality. If you're not interested in the quality and care put into your food, then take a right out of the parking lot, and then take the first left, and you'll find that there's a Taco Bell with your name on it just a mile away. read more

First of all - the outside is NOT a reflection of the inside. What a cute and well-thought concept for those of us who grew up with la Chilindrina and the others! Nostalgia pura! Our waitress was so warm and nice, and the food is definitely worth it. Each dish we ordered was great, albeit a bit pricey, especially the tacos, but honestly, if you're willing to pay for Asadero prices, you're definitely getting your money's worth here. Our only real con was the parking situation, and the asada meat that we received - it was overcooked, tough and dried, which was a huge 180 from the taco meats that we had, which were juicy and tasty. 4.5 stars, if I could grant them and we can't wait to return! read more

I absolutely love Vecindad de Seattle. The food is consistently delicious, and the atmosphere is wonderful -- it truly feels like you're sitting in a cozy little café somewhere in Mexico. Everything about the space is warm and intentional. I will say, it's definitely on the more expensive side, so my friends and I usually save it for special occasions or the occasional treat. I do wish it were a bit more affordable because I'd be here all the time if I could. That said, the quality absolutely shows. The coffee deserves its own moment -- it's incredible. Honestly, I have dreams about it. It's that good. The servers here are also wonderful. I feel like I often get the same server when I come in, and she's always fantastic. I love the aesthetics of the restaurant too. The flatware and dishes feel authentic, like they were brought straight from Mexico, and I really appreciate the traditional water jugs left on the tables -- such a thoughtful touch. The food itself is always impeccable. I genuinely haven't tried a single thing here that I didn't like. I haven't had the chance to try their bread or fresh-squeezed juices yet, but I have tried the pancakes, and they are hands down some of the best pancakes I've ever had in my life. At first glance, they almost seem out of place on the menu, but trust me -- even if you just order them for the table to share, they are unreal. I also tried the café de olla -- it was decent, though lighter on cinnamon than I expected and not quite warm enough, but it did come in a charming cup. The portions are huge. I liked the grilled shrimp on the taco, but the steak underneath was overcooked and dry, which made it pretty bland. The beans were standard and the sauces were just okay. My friend thought the steak was fine, and we both ended up full after eating only about half our plates. Overall, it didn't leave much of an impression. The service was quick and there was no wait. We were excited to give this place a try and it didn't let us down. We are also excited to come back and try their brunch menu. We went here with some friends and everyone ordered a main dish that they were happy with. We also started with the Guacamole, which was excellent! Other things that we tried were the Carne Asada, Taquitos, Macho Burrito, and the Tacos Asada. Everything was delicious. We also tried their Churros, which were great. Their margarita's were what you would expect and they have several kinds to choose from! Rachel was our server and ensured she was taking good care of us, we never needed anything. Had the torta de chilaquiles, it comes with beans and 2 salsa's I have the green chile with mine. It was so flavorful, and a large portion eggs cooked to order. My friend had the sopes chorizo I believe. The queso, lettuce and onions looked fresh. The berry margarita was delicious, not overpowering tequila flavor. Fresh berry and sugar on rim. The server was attentive and very friendly. We had a moment to chat and it's a family owned business. The music wasn't so loud that is was overpowering any conversation. The HUARACHE with a thick handmade tortilla topped with beans, asada, lettuce, sour cream, pico de gallo, queso fresco, and avocado was given to us to-go in a pizza box because it was so large!!! It tasted so fresh with the lettuce, juicy steak and thick masa tortilla. Creama was drizzled all over and it came with a side of green smooth hot sauce! That hot sauce is gold!! Pure gold! I wish I took more photos of how unique and vibrant and colorful the interior of this location is because it was beautiful and made me feel like I was transported to Mexico. Service was top tier. The made our tacos right in front of us. This is authentic Mexican food. It's excellent. The flavors we had were fantastic. The people who run it really have their hearts in it. They made me feel like I was being invited to their home. Theyve really spent a lot of time trying to capture the flair of a family restaurant in Mexico. I had the two ribeye cooked table side. My wife had the 3 asada tacos. Chilaquiles were mid. Dont get yourself fooled by this place its just the looks and thats why they want to overprice. Server was friendly but they trick you into getting the entree which they charge you for not like other mexican restaurants that the salsa and chips are included, not here! Another 15$ just for that.
