The ample-sized California Burrito with carnitas is still my favorite menu item, but it's still very oily after all these years. If it was some sort of flavorable juice it wouldn't bother me, but it's just oil. Sigh. Owner is cool, glad to see they've prospered.

I used to live near the Rosa Parks location and I was so happy when I found the Sandy Blvd location! Unpretentious, homey, outdoor seating and a bar. Love these folks. They are always so nice!

I really enjoyed my visit here today such a cute little place with lots of culture, They have so many options on the menu i didn't know what to choose so i settled for a classic. The Enchilada plate was delicious i finished it in less than 5 minutes. I Also was able to try their Asada Burrito and i enjoyed that as well. They have a green sauce in the fridge by the drinks thats absolutely delicious and complimented both dishes! The Host was super nice and helpful to all our questions! Can't wait to go try the rest of the menu!!

Great food with great service in a cozy, intimate environment at a reasonable price. Think i like this spot even more than the other location.

El Burrito Azteca is a hidden gem. Their house margarita is one of the best I've had, and it's even better in their happy hour. Definitely unique! Their potato burrito is very filling and reasonable, and their veggie Chile Relleno taco was solid. They have a great selection of unique veggie and non veggie options and everything is reasonable even if it's not happy hour or Taco Tuesday but if anything you gotta come check this on Tuesday for sure!

Ok so maybe this isn't a fair review and I'm going to give them another go around. I was working nearby and had f course I have to try a new spot I haven't been too. I love burritos so I figured I would give them a shot. Good reviews and pics of food. I happened to get there right at 11 when they were opening so maybe they felt a little rushed. I ordered the Pastor burrito. It came out pretty quick especially as I mentioned they were just opening and the employees were just showing up. Anyways I got two red salsas and one green. The burrito was pretty big but for the price I'm not sure. It was very hot though which was nice on a cold day. Not spicy. Overall the burrito was decent. Next time I will wait till about noon and eat inside. If you haven't tried them do check it out. I will be back for sure and I'm thinking my review will be better next time as it looks promising. So I came back the following day. Again for lunch. This time around 12:30. There were a few people in there so it wasn't too busy. I ordered the asada Azteca burrito this time. It came at hot and pretty quick as well. This burrito was much better than yesterdays in my opinion. However still has burritos go there good but nothing special. I would rate them 3 stars. So if I were in the area I would definitely come back but try something other than a burrito. Also so them your review and you get a free churro. Which was good:)

Beautiful place great food and great vibes, best Mexican food!

Amazing! Beautiful place with amazing food and amazing flavorful food, best Mexican food around! The service was amazing! Quick and fast!

Both the fish and the prawns were cooked in a red sauce that was delicious! I meant to ask for blue corn tortillas but was so excited to find shrimp & fish tacos that weren't deep-fried that I forgot to ask for them. The regular corn tortillas were excellent, though, so it was not a bad mistake to make. I also had jamaica to drink and let me tell you... it was not made from a mix! It was dark, thirst-quenching, and perfectly made. Most jamaica is super sweet - this was not! I love the flavor of real hibiscus and this did not disappoint. My friends had chile relleno bowls and birria tacos, all of which was excellent. Their watermelon margaritas were tasty and refreshing! Our orders were taken by a helpful person at the cash register and the food was served quickly by a friendly server. The inside and outside areas were clean and tidy, with plenty of seating available at the outside tables. The outdoor seating area is under cover making it a good choice for both summer & winter dining. Definitely going on my "have to go back and try something else" list!

Such a small detail that makes a big difference. The Citrus Salad was super fresh, crisp, and delicious, which balanced everything out perfectly. I also tried the NA classic margarita and it was so refreshing. I loved the subtle touch of orange juice. Overall, such a lovely spot with amazing food, great vibes, and thoughtful details. I will definitely be back!

For the amount of food and the overall experience, I thought it was a great way to experience the restaurant. Ángel took care of us and made the meal even more memorable by telling us the story and inspiration behind each dish as it came out. It made the tasting feel like much more than just trying a bunch of different dishes. I'm definitely a carnivore and usually feel like a meal needs some kind of meat, but surprisingly, my favorite dish was the mole with eggplant and rice. The mole was delicious, and I genuinely didn't miss having meat on the plate. I would happily order that dish again exactly as it was. The tomates en salsa arabe were another standout. I really enjoyed how fresh the dish tasted, especially with the seasonal tomatoes they were using. I also had the carnitas tacos, which had great flavor and texture. For dessert, we had what was essentially a fried concha, and I loved that it wasn't overly sweet. It had just the right amount of sweetness for me and was a great way to finish the meal. Overall, I highly recommend doing the full tasting menu at República. For around $40 per person, you get to experience the entire menu, and if you're lucky enough to have Ángel there to walk you through the stories and concepts behind the dishes, it makes the experience that much better.

Today my wife and I enjoyed scrumptious Tacotes, one chicken and one Bok Choy with house made salsa. Also, the Tetela de Requeson, maiz, beans and sprouting broccoli with a house made requeson - kind of like ricotta cheese - very beautifully plated and so delicious. Extra side of yummy and creamy black bean frijoles with sour cream, butter, tortillas. Instead of desert, the Mezcal, chile and lime was refreshing. Right now open for lunch Thursday through Sunday 10-3pm. No fixed menu, changes with what's fresh - the way chef Angel loves to cook respecting what is in season. Service and ambiance is friendly and knowledgeable about the food and its origin - another reason I love dining here so I learn about what I'm eating and how it was inspired. Yes, the food plated looks so good, I am inspired to dig in. There's a reason it was recognized early in its start by Eater, Portland Monthly and the Oregonian as one of the best restaurants in the city because foodies seek out and love to go where the food experience is special - especially the chef tasting menus in the past. Now I'm watchful and ready to go back and see what the chef Angel is serving up. What else is so special is Republica was a James Beard award nominee too!
