Found this place looking for a Mexican restaurant and came across this gem. Hubby and me found it appealing and seen some mixed reviews but decided to try it and honestly, we LOVED it! This will be our new go to Mexican place. Hubby had the Cali surf and turf which was recommended by one of the workers and he really enjoyed it. Said it was delicious and it's huge! I ordered the tater tot carne asada fries and again portion is huge! So fresh and flavorful. The salsas to go with it are an added bonus to it. We tried the big rolled tacos aka taquitos beef ones and they were soo good and crunchy! Again, these are huge! Me and my hubby shared one. The rice and beans are also very tasty! Ordered it for our 1 yr old. The staff in front are very nice and helpful. They will give recommendations and they were wrong lol. I had a California Burrito from El Burrito Taco Shop, and I have to say, this is by far the worst California Burrito I've ever had, and I've had plenty--especially after living a large amount of time in San Diego, where I know what a real taco shop burrito should taste like. I had been wanting to try this spot, and this was my first time, but it will also be my last. First off, the burrito was cold, small, and the tortilla tasted like it was packed with GMOs. It didn't have the fresh, authentic taste of tortillas from a proper taco shop. The worst part was the carne asada. Or should I say, what was supposed to be carne asada. The meat didn't even resemble it and was incredibly salty. It tasted like a mixture of Taco Bell and an authentic taco shop, but definitely not in a good way. To make things worse, the salsa was like the pre-packaged stuff you'd find at a grocery store, not the fresh, flavorful kind you expect from a taco shop. I will say the workers were very nice, but I guarantee they don't even eat the food themselves. For close to $19 dlls just for the burrito, I expected much better quality. Instead, I got a bland, cold, small, and overpriced burrito that was more like a bad fast food attempt than a real California Burrito. You can find much better burritos in Wildomar at places like Los Jilbertos Taco Shop or Don Pancho Mexican Grill. I'm not sure how this place has good reviews, but I'm just being honest. Very disappointing... We ordered: Burrito Taquitos with chicken.. The food took forever... The rice and beans were very bland and the taquitos had no flavor.. They did not have hot carrots and the salsa was not good. The woman who took our order was nice. Also if you order iced tea you have to get the ice from the one drink machine and bring it back to the front where the iced tea is.. Why not have it near the drink/ice machine???? We worked up an appetite after walking 4 miles at the Santa Rosa Plateau, stopped at this place on our way back to the freeway. I'm confused by the bad reviews on here, because our meal was pretty damn good! The place is an American style taco shop, with sports memorabilia, and a huge menu to choose from. I had a combination plate of Adobada and asada tacos, and my husband had rolled tacos. We ordered chips and salsa too, along with hot carrots. Everything was very tasty, I didn't even mind having to pay for the carrots. Will definitely stop back the next time we hike the plateau. read more

We decided to finally give this place a try and I am very disappointed. I ordered a Mexican pizza and ended up with what looks like a quesadilla ( soft tortilla, nothing on top). First time going to this Taco Shop up here. This was the WORST taco shop i have ever eaten at. Now I'm from San Diego and they have really good taco shops but this one up here is horrible. The meat in the rolled tacos wasn't seasoned and they tasted like freezer burn! The Carne Asada or whatever it was had zero seasoning on the meat! My advice to them is to learn or start seasoning your meat and throw old rolled tacos away that's been in the freezer to long. It was a horrible experience eating food from this nasty taco shop!! Have been here a couple of times & they had a great Cali burrito. Ordered online & got it in a bowl. What? Who knew you had to specifically ask for a tortilla We got carne asada nachos & they were filled with oil. Doesn't make for nice crispy nachos. I've been driving past another location of this place for a long time. I decided to stop at Stater Brothers nearby on my way home from LA, and wanted to give El Burro a try. I ordered chicken enchiladas. The portion size was great! The container was heavy! I liked the way the chicken was seasoned. The rice and beans were kind of bland though - it's like everything tasted the same. I'm making my way through all of the local Mexican food places in the area. Every time we pass by it's always packed so we never eat here. I wanted to try it. I ordered tacos since it was taco Tuesday and a Asada burrito. The burrito was cold, wet, and soggy and the response was oh it might have been the pico and guac. We live not even 3 minutes away from the place so it was very disappointing. My child even took the burrito and looked at it and said eww. I couldn't believe she said that and I took a bite and then I understood what she meant. Don't waste your money. It's quite basic; I ordered a bacon breakfast burrito, and although it's not terrible, it's not the greatest either. I paid around $8.50 for a decent-sized burrito, but the flavor profile is, well, quite bland. If you're into plain breakfast burritos, then it's perfect. Most of the flavor came from the bacon. I wish they had pico de Gallo available, but instead, they included green and red salsa, both of which lacked spiciness. I feel like even my Caucasian mother could have put this together. I ordered rolled tacos & 3 burritos thru the GrubHub app which I received all but one burrito!. When I called the restaurant for the missing burrito, the lady I spoke said she made sure there was 3 burritos in the brown paper bag however there was only two burritos. Like why would I call them if the order was right? She then said that they'll get the burrito ready and would not be delivered for another hour! An hour?! Are you kidding me? My fiancé just ended up going to the restaurant to pick up the burrito which is such an inconvenient. She also mentioned that the carrots & jalapeño were extra charge so that's why they didn't add those items but aren't they usually at the salsa bar for people to get?! Most all Mexican restaurants have it at their salsa bar. I told her that it was fine that it was not added. I also asked that we get medium & spicy salsa on the side (in special instructions on GrubHub order) but there was none in the bag. Every time I put special instructions on how the food should be cooked &/or to add sauces on the side, the restaurants & the drivers always gets it wrong! I know this app can may be convenient for most people but what's the whole point of adding instructions if the restaurants & the drivers are not reading it?! This place food is so good. Everything is so fresh and tasty we just keep coming back. I really want to give it 5 stars, but can't. Unfortunately their management costs them that last star. If I was rating their food alone it would be 5! From the chips and salsa to the special burritos, it is all the best this valley has to offer. Better than El Ray, better than El Ranchito, and everything else in between. If you place an order for pick up or delivery check it! We've had it wrong 4 times. Also, a large catering order was wrong. The management can be quite rude, doesn't apologize for mistakes or do much to rectify the situation. I will leave it at that. Guess it's a sign, so here is a shortened version: Went in last night about 6:45: Pros: Called in to say my order wasn't complete and they offered to comp my next meal. Cons: Stopped in the middle of taking my order to assist someone else with their order. Salsa bar disgustingly filthy and half empty Very long wait Order was incomplete. Food was inedible. I came here when they first opened and enjoyed it. Last night was awful. I hate to sound racist but if two white women are working the front of a taco shop and one says she is the general manager? I would question the quality/authenticity of the Mexican food you're about to receive. Burrito was in a pool of grease. Thank you for offering to make it right Melissa and complete my next meal.
