Didn't even know this place existed until it was recommended, and Los Jilbertos doesn't disappoint! It's tucked way back with the ever ambiguous Taco sign with the Los Jilbertos logo on a window that doesn't face anything. But people know this place for sure, here just after 1pm on Friday and it's been a constant flow. Service was very friendly and food came out quick. The inside was clean and the salsa bar had 4 salsa options including a very chunky pico de gallo. I got the NAK Burrito, since they don't have the KCC they have down in Temecula, but the NAK seems to be the staple at every location. Much like the Cali Burrito but instead of sour cream there are refried beans to accompany the carne asada, fries, guacamole, pico and cheese. The beans make this burrito dense, immediately the weight made obvious this was going to be a filling burrito. Flavor was good, carne asada had a good cook, nice chew and good flavor. Fries were cooked crispy which I definitely prefer, great texture. The guacamole, cheese and pico were pretty evenly distributed. The beans were the wild card and they held their own in flavor. If you're not a huge fan of refried beans, probably steer clear as this is definitely bean forward in flavor, but I enjoyed it. Overall the location I would give 4 stars to, but maybe it's intentional that they maintain exclusivity of a largely local clientele? Hard to find but a hidden gem. Staff were well spoken and very friendly and diligent in their performance of responsibilities, easy 5 stars. The NAK Burrito is a solid 4. Very filling if you're hungry, but does end up being bean heavy. Value... it's hefty due to the beans, and a couple dollars more than the Cali burrito which I feel would be a bit lighter but close in volume. Flavors were good so definitely keeping note on a day that I'm really hungry. read more

I have Los Jillbertos 3 stars ago( maybe 1-2 years ago). About 6 months we decided to try this Taco Shop again and were very pleased. The food has gone from just OK to super good, great customer service and we've been going out to emeat there every week now. I'm so happy that they are back to being great again! Born and raised in San Diego, this is the FIRST restaurant in this whole area to taste like SD taco shops. Better than any taco shop we've tried in Beaumont, Hemet, Murrieta, Temecula. flavors are authentically mexican and delicious. I got hungry today and decided to find a Taco place that sells Shrimp Taco and found Los Jilbertos. They have a California burrito (by name only) advertised at $14.50 which is good for today's prices. The problem is apparently their version of this burrito only comes with the protein, fries, cheese, and pico (not a California burrito) they make you pay extra to make it an actual California burrito by having to add sour cream and guacamole for an additional $5 putting the California Burrito you thought you were getting at $15 to $20 instead. Just ordered my food and picked it up. I was the only one in the establishment. I walked past the host and was not greeted, no problem. Worker just standing around looking at his phone and picking things up and looking at me. The cooks were all just looking at me for 5 minutes. Finally the cook told the host to help me after 5 minutes. At this point I was irritated and luckily my wife was hungry or I would have looked at him and gave him a ear full in customer service. The food was ok not the best, maybe I had the bad taste of the lack of customer service in my mouth. This place is ran by hooligans. This was the second time I visited. Great BRC burritos (beans, rice and cheese). I like to think that most Mexican restaurants in Southern California have at least a decent burrito, but you'd be surprised. However, Los Jilbertos has a great burrito, which is a relief. The burritos here are very big and can easily be shared between two people if you're looking for a light lunch. The tortilla that they use is big but thin, and the proportion of beans to rice to cheese is perfect. The BRC burritos here are nice and mushy, just like a BRC burrito should be. They have a little self-serve salsa station, with pico de gallo, marinated carrots and salsa, too. read more

This was my first and last time buying from this place. I ordered 7 takeout burritos for a construction crew working at my house. I didn't try the food, but the crew said it was "okay". My review is mainly for the customer service, which was terrible. It holds more weight for me than anything else. The young man working at the register was extremely rude. While I waited my turn to order in line, I heard him speak Spanish with the kitchen crew. When it was my turn and he spoke to me, I noticed his English was very broken, so I proceeded to speak to him in Spanish. He kept replying back to me in English, which is totally fine. I just wanted to be nice and polite and meet him halfway. I thought his behavior was weird, but I brushed it off. My first question was, "Can I put in a pick up order right now? Can I pay for it now and pick it up at X time?" He replied, "Give me one second" and stammered his hand in the air with some sort of annoyance?? OKAY THEN. He proceed to ask, "Is it a lot of food?" I said, "7 burritos." He then proceeded to take my order. I told him exactly what I wanted and asked once again, "So, would that be okay? I can pick this order up at X time?" He exasperatedly replied, "I said give me a second!" That took me off guard. There was no need for his hostility. It was a genuine question. Especially when he didn't even answer it in the first place. I dumbly proceeded with the transaction anyway. When I came back to pick up the food, the food was not ready. Which it is usually not the end of the world for me, but after his attitude, it did rub me the wrong way a little bit. I didn't wait long though. Maybe 5-10 minutes? I'll give them that. While I waited, he gave me a salsa container and showed me where the salsa bar was. He said, "This is for the salsa, just don't take too much, okay?" Um, okay? What kind of comment is that? It makes you feel unwelcome and weird about even taking a single drop! To top it all off, I was still being nice and respectful... I made eye contact with one of the cooks back there when I was leaving, I waved and said thank you. No reply. Just a dead stare. Really? Are you serious? This is not the right way to treat a customer. I wouldn't recommend this place. Go somewhere else where they give you warm welcomes or at least the same level of respect you give them. Now that I had the time to reflect on this situation, I should've walked away and not gone through with the purchase. Shame. read more

Jilbertos is a classic taco shop that does it well with great service to boot. On a Sunday morning they were slammed with takeout orders.
