I would say Cotija's is pretty solid! My sister in law likes the potato tacos and my MIL gets the street tacos. I got the chicken bowl with extra cotija both times we went while I was in town. It's one of their go to places and I can see why. Their avocado salsa was bomb, you have to ask for it and they dont just put it in the bag. The other two salsas (red & green) were good too! We placed a mobile order both times and picked it up through the drive thru. The second time there was a bit of a wait however I didn't feel like running in. First time here to this location. The staff here is very tenitive to the customers. We were greated as we walked in the door. I meet a friend here for lunch while I was in the area. We ordered a Burrito, Chicken Taco. And the Two Beef Taco and Cheese Enchilada special. The prices were reasonable and the portions were quite large. The tacos were a bit greasy but very flavorful. The Enchilada sauce had a little different flavor than I am used too. But over all it wasnt too bad. read more

The carne asada fries are amazing, carne asada burrito is classic, California burrito is a fan favorite, the tortas are unmatched... need I continue? I'm surprised Yelp has a 3 star average for Cotijas and I must whole heartedly say that is a travesty to this fine restaurant. Yes - the prices of food keep skyrocketing but you guess what... If you know anything about the other Mexican spots nearby they are terrible. This place is a little bit on the pricey side, but the food is really good. We came a week or so ago and ordered a hash brown breakfast burrito no meat add beans. Vicky was extremely nice and helpful. Came back a few days later to order again( a different employee helped us out), and our order was read back correctly. We got home a took a bite- and unfortunately it had meat in it so we couldn't eat it. Our receipt didn't reflect our no meat order either. We returned today and Vicky was there again. We explained the last interaction and she listened to us, REMEMBERED US- from our first order- and remade our order. She embodied customer service and satisfaction. This is a small chain restaurant that has elements of being a sole proprietorship and of being a small chain. As you can see from my interior pics, the windows are plastered with hand-drawn advertisements and yet the ordering area is reminiscent of a small chain. I liked the standalone hot sauce station and fresh veggies, see pic (again with the hand written signage). Yet they have a professional sign noting their business roots and approach, see pic. The staff was quick and friendly. We shared the Carne Asada Tostada and the Beef Taco. When you look at my pic of the Carne Asada Tostada it's hard to imagine that there is a tostada under there. Not only that, BUT its sturdy enough to hold all of that food. It had all the items you thought it should have: it was all fresh and the carne asada was plentiful, tender and seasoned well. I'd have this again. The Beef Taco was also amply sized. A notable touch was that the taco was held upright with a dollop of refried beans and lettuce behind it. This was a nice little "salad" that went along with the solo taco. The shell was fairly crisp and also held up well. As you can see from my pic everything was fresh. These 2 items, I'm sure were long on calories, but also long on flavor and size. read more

I'll be taking my tacos back. They did not taste or smell properly. I got the number four I believe to beef tacos rice and beans and a flan. The flan was good although the juice from it also smelled like dishwater and tasted like it. Other than that flan was good you could tell it was home made. Rice and beans were OK not bad. Not great. Had flavor etc. so I did eat those but when I went for the taco the shell was really hard almost like what you would want on a fish taco because usually it holds more moisture in the meat. I thought that they had given me fish tacos for a second because of the smell. Took a bite it was not good smelled the beef I did not smell good. It was Easter when I went but I would still think that it's only one day of holiday. Everything should've tasted better or have been fresher. so I'm not sure what happened here but I am definitely going to take it back. I could see why the taquitos are good because they're fried if this is the way that the meat is? I do not know if I'll be trying it again. I will give it two stars only because we didn't try much. With that being said, the lack of flavor in both dishes leads me to believe it will continue to the rest of the menu. I probably won't go back for a coupon reasons. 1. It is a fast food joint and 2. We are in Southern California, having sub par Mexican food is not a good look. I've been here twice with a bad experience both times. I came last Friday a little before 9 (Their website & Apple maps states they close at 10) They said take out only & their salsa bar was closed. It was giving they wanted to close down shop an hour early & I didn't like that. I used to work at restaurants as well & If we started shutting down an hour before close it was terrible for the company. If you want to close at 9 at least lock up the lobby or state it on your sites. It sucked that we arrived at 9 only to eat our meals in our car, when we planned to dine in. Then Cinco De Mayo & they had signs posted for 99¢ tacos until 9PM. I arrived at 8PM, I couldn't find the picture I attached at the time that I had taken that previous Friday I was here, so instead I had asked if their Cinco De Mayo deals were still going on to which I was told "No, the deals ended at 6pm." I was already in the drive through so I couldn't really reverse & I had chose to come to this taco shop as opposed to others that closed a little earlier, so even if I left to go to another spot they would've been closed by now. I'm just extremely disappointed in this restaurant & them fooling me about the times. It's extremely misleading & I probably won't be returning here which is unfortunate as the food is tasty. Please educate your staff on correct closing times & deal/sale times. I feel very lied to. read more

Went to this location on my way back home to Sacramento. They have everyday street tacos for $1.99. The Fish taco was spectacular. The chicken taco reminded me of Tijuana tacos and the Al Pastor was flavorful and delicious. If I lived near this location, I would eat here every other day until the end of time.
