I seriously can't believe this place gets such a high rating. I realize my review won't affect the big picture much, but my experience was real, and it was terrible. I went to this restaurant at the suggestion of my son, who goes to college in Annapolis. The strip mall it's in is in pretty bad shape--there were boxes, mop buckets, construction debris, a shoe, and a bunch of trash just lying around outside the restaurant. It looked disheveled and unkept. Parking wasn't great, but it was typical for a small strip mall. We were seated, and after a few minutes, a disinterested lady came over and asked us what we wanted to drink. Two of us got water and the other two had sodas. She delivered them, took our order, and we never saw her again until I tracked her down later. Someone else delivered our food. The food was fine--it wasn't bad, and was as good as most Mexican places I've been to, though it wasn't over-the-top great either. The worst part during the meal was that I ran out of water. I kept trying to eat the roasted jalapeño they'd given me with my tacos, but I eventually had to give up because I wasn't getting a refill. After all of us had finished, we sat there talking for about 15 minutes waiting on the bill or some sign of life from the server... Nothing. Ever. At all. Finally, we needed to leave, so I got up, went to the counter, and found the lady who had "kind of" served us. She was indifferent, said nothing, and looked at me like "what do you want?" I politely said we needed our bill, and she started tapping keys on the register. She gave me no itemized receipt or bill, just said "$53." I gave her my card, and she put a receipt in front of me with a pen. When I got to the tip line, I was tempted to give her nothing (I wish I had now), but I gave her $5. Honestly, that wasn't even bad considering it was only a $53 bill and her service was terrible. I signed and left. At the table, I listened to that voice in my head that said I should keep my copy of the bill. I filled it out as I had at the register and tucked it into my wallet. Several days later, after I'd returned home, I checked my card's website and, sure enough, this young lady decided to give herself an extra dollar. Apparently, she thought she'd done $6 worth of work. I called the restaurant and tried to explain my situation to a woman on the phone. After several attempts to explain it, she put me on hold to talk to someone. After about 3 minutes, she came back, said "ok, thank you," and hung up on me. I'm currently in the process of doing a chargeback with my card for the dollar. I'd take back the whole $5 if I could, because that employee/thief doesn't deserve her job, let alone a tip. I hope it's obvious, but this review and the chargeback are not about a dollar. This place is shady and that "employee" is a thief. My son is a sophomore, so we have 3 more years and many visits to come to Annapolis. Cabrito's food wasn't good enough to risk another try, so I hope that stolen dollar was worth losing a repeat customer. Again, I realize this review won't hurt them, but hopefully someone will read it and be motivated to watch their receipts after dining here. I will not be back. read more

I got the taco combo. It's three tacos with beans and rice. For the taco, you can choose a different one for each taco. I chose the carne asada, shrimp, and the al pastor tacos. All the meats are well seasoned and in ample supply. They don't skip on the meats. The tortilla is small but great if you're watching your carbs. Lol. Don't forget to use the green sauce. The rice doesn't look like much but it's good. I wish there was a little more of it. There's definitely no flavor lacking in the black beans. It's just a touch too salty. I'll probably mix them with the rice for balance. I'm not sure what some of these veggies are. The big green pepper reminds me of a bell pepper. It has a little kick though. Maybe it's a jalapeño. This other veggie reminds me of a green onion but bigger and it's roasted it. Pretty tasty. read more

Cockroaches. Saturday December 9th, 2023. Upon entering the restaurant my first stop was the restroom, where I was greeted by a full grown cockroach relaxing on the sink. The bug didn't flinch when I turned on the light, I was obviously intruding. This was our third time eating at this location, while waiting for tacos we enjoyed Horchata before we noticed baby cockroaches crawling on the back of our booth chair back. We canceled our order without explanation and the waitress let us leave without paying for our drinks. That was nice. read more

I've been to this location 3 times now and I have always been underwhelmed. There's a location right by my house in Pasadena that I LOVE! But for some reason, this location can't seem to get it right. While the food is still tasty, the proportions seem off and they always somehow get our order wrong. My friend often orders her food with chicken, and a couple times they gave her pork instead. The location near my house gives you complimentary chips and salsa before your food and we don't get that here. Yesterday I ordered a burrito enchilado (so I could have the green sauce smothered on top), but I also wanted it vegetarian. My friend wanted the ultimate burrito with chicken and both green and red sauce on the side, so she could try the sauces. And maybe her asking for sauce on the side confused them with mine or something, because mine came as a regular burrito with green sauce on the side. While still good, definitely not what I was expecting so I ended up being disappointed going into it. My friend also only received green sauce and not the red sauce. She also ordered their chicken tamales which their menu says comes with 5, but she only got 4. Now all in all our food was good and I would've left satisfied, but when they dropped off the bill, the cost of my burrito was the normal price, but then there was the extra line underneath that said "enchilada" for an additional $2.50. Which I most definitely did not get. Needless to say, we probably won't be going here anymore. We've given them enough chances and have never left happy. We'll stick to skipping dinner and just getting Bruster's next door next time we're in the area. read more

This is a down-to-earth, working class sort of restaurant. The food struck me as being very authentic and generously portioned, but also of unfussy presentation on plastic plates. Most of the clients and all the staff were of Mexican or Central American background, so it's obviously great if you want an experience of honestly Mexican food, and beverages imported from Mexico. The prices were very moderate and the service was nice, and efficient. This small restaurant was pretty crowded for a Sunday afternoon, and the environment was noisy. Plenty of families and small children. I think readers will get the picture; if you enjoy that ambiance you may well find this place a preferred spot and a very good value for your dollar. read more

I only give this 4/5 stars because no one speak English and frequently 'special requests' or just customized requests are frequently not relayed to the kitchen. Causing either a delay when getting the items because you have to ask for something or something as simple as not giving but one salsa with 4 tacos. Overall, this is a very authentic restaurant. They consider me a gringo. But, I've lived in El Paso, Tijuana and San Diego so I do know a bit about this food. All in all this would be five stars if they just paid more attention to requests for separation of food or the type of salsa someone wants. The following photo shows my issue. I drive by this corner all the time, but I had never stopped in here before. Good Mexican food can be hard to find around Annapolis, but this was a hit. Most of their business is carryout. They have a couple of dine in tables and a counter by the window. I decided to eat in because it was not crowded today. I ordered Tacos Dorados, chicken tacos on corn tortillas. The food came out in about 10 minutes. It was a nice, full plate, with rice and beans, lettuce and tomatoes, sliced peppers, sour cream and guacamole, plus sauces. There were four tacos, rolled up and lightly fried. I gobbled it all up pretty darn quickly. They have an extensive menu and reasonable prices. Came here around 3pm on a Thursday. Surprisingly busy that time of day with the phone going off constantly. I had 2 carne asada and 1 tripe tacos. My husband had the original burrito with carne asada. We both had horcata. The tacos were delicious and came with some good salsa. I especially enjoyed the tripe taco which was super flavorful. The radishes, cooked jalapeno, and green onion were a nice and tasty addition. My husband said that the burrito was great with great flavor.
