Many years ago I lived in Southern California, right on the border with Mexico. This restaurant, La Sierra, is by far the best Mexican food I have eaten in 30 years since I left there. Wow! I went back for dinner twice in one week. I got to talk with Jorge, the owner. He's a nice guy. And my wait staff for both meals were very attentive. Laura is the best waitress there. Jorge has upgraded everything including now brunch with an unbelievable menu with so many delicious options. This is my group's favorite Mexican food spot in the county. The service and quality of food is always fantastic at La Sierra. The staff is always pleasant and welcoming, the service is quick and accurate. The authentic food is top notch. My personal favorite is the burritos especial. Perfectly seasoned and seared ground beef overfill the tortillas. The Chile sauce and cheese are just right, without being overpowering. The drink selections are wide ranging, not just the usual cantina fare. Topping everything off is the tres leches cake, which is a wonderful dessert. La Sierra makes the best I've had, without being mealy or runny. Parking is OK, but can be a bit crowded. If you call ahead, they have no problem seating larger groups, either. read more

Great little spot in the area. The staff is very friendly and the food is good. The guacamole is ok but not worth the $14. The margaritas were pretty great. The only thing I was a bit annoyed about was I asked for a small side of hot sauce and found out the bartender charged me $1.50 for it. If that's the case, they need to tell people it's extra, even for such a small amount of sauce. Will maybe try the place again. read more

We went here on a whim, I didn't want to cool - and I love trying places we have never been and that was tonight's mission. We pulled up and there was parking right out front - how easy. We entered and someone was taking care of a take out order, but he was so kind and briefly stopped after a moment or two and said please, find yourself a table, we will come find you with a really big smile. I loved the welcoming environment. The tables were spaced apart and labeled to adhere to Covid 19 regulations, and it was perfect and easy to navigate. We sat in a booth and I loved how private it felt. The booth backs are high so it's cozy. Our waiter came over with chips and salsa and it was good, a bit spicy but good. He made beer recommendations to my husband and got us some menus. I had a veggie mixed plate. It came with a taco, a quesadilla, a burrito, and a flat one that I can't remember the name but it was good. It all had beans and cheese. And the cheese must be super fresh because it tasted so good. I don't normally do cheese, but I was like what the hey today, and I am glad I did, what a fluke. My husband had beef tacos and he said they were good. Fresh ingredients. I would have like to have seen more cold vegetables on my plate, but I should have read the menu more and just asked for it. But the food was great. When we left we never at all had felt rushed, they were very happy and relaxed staff. They were so nice I would just come back for the customer service really. Highly recommend! read more

Having seen recommendations for this place I decided to give it a try last night. Outside seating was adorable but due to rain didn't sit there. Inside is modern looking not really unique. Very clean. Service was wonderful and doting. Food was awesome. Started with a sampler and queso. Honestly could have easily stopped there but... Others have already mentioned this but we can confirm it for ourselves, La Sierra staff is friendly and professional. Great menu and wide variety of choices. I especially appreciated the several variations of seafood tacos on offer. I ordered the Tacos Mariscos. La Sierra does not skimp. Every bite was seafood and fresh grilled veggies. The margaritas (specifically, the Margarite El Patron) was really good. Mine was a bit stronger than the Wifs. Not a complaint necessarily but whew! Most importantly, the chips and salsa were on point. The chips were fresh, not overly salty, and were extra crunchy. Made all the more perfect with the fresh blended and not too thick salsa, that had just enough heat. The manager stopped by in between checks by our waitress to see how we were doing. Pretty poor. My wife ordered a "Bohemiam" beer from the list of Mexican beers which turned out to be National Bohemian. Fail. Sent back. That's just not okay. The chardonnay wasn't very good. Chips and salsa were pretty good. I had a combo with a beef taco, a chicken taco, rice, and beans. The chicken taco was okay. The beef taco was a greasy swamp. Not okay. The rice was badly overcooked. The refried beans were just uninteresting. The cheese in the tacos and on the beans appeared and tasted like they came from a bag pre-shredded. I should have eaten more chips and salsa. My wife got a couple of chicken quesadillas. They were okay - nothing special, but okay. At least they were worth taking the leftovers home. All pretty expensive. It's worth noting the online menu is not what you see in the restaurant. And no, burritos are NOT a kind of enchilada. La Sierra is on our "don't bother" list. Too many better alternatives when we feel like eating Mexican food. read more

Solid Mexican restaurant for first visit at lunch on a Saturday. Service was very attentive and nice. Standard free chips and salsa, salsa was good, chunky and flavorful. Queso with chorizo, pretty good, chorizo was still lumped together. Beet salad was one of the best we've had in awhile, the salmon that came with was well cooked but had no seasoning of any sort. Standard street tacos (steak, chicken, al pastor) excellent, flavorful meat and plenty. Good fresh watermelon margarita with no mix. Clean, spacious, and good atmosphere with plenty of parking. Always good to see another Mexican food restaurant open within easy driving distance of my home, however, I think they may have misjudged the marketplace a tad.....some of their offerings are uproariously over-priced. I have never, and I mean, EVER, paid more than 3.75 for a taco, I don't care WHAT kind of meat it had in it... Their taco entrees start at 17.00 and go up from there..... While in Annapolis for work I decided to swing by La Sierra for dinner. There were several Mexican Restaurants in the area but I chose La Sierra due to their proximity to my hotel. Upon arrival I was immediately greeted and sat. Good choice of food and cervezas, so I went with the beef enchiladas and taco combo. It was served in record time and piping hot. I really had no complaints about the food or the service, everything was good and it was relatively clean. Not too many people there but that seems to be the new norm these days in most restaurants I visit. I would definitely eat here again though. read more

Jesus where do I start.... It's Chino De Mayo, a commercial Mexican holiday. We drove all the way from Bowie, with friends of ours we wanted to spend the holiday festivities with. They didn't not have an overflow of customers, but the food time took 3 hours... They advised pitcher marguerites, but refused to wash used pitcher to serve new customer. It was the worse restaurant experience we ever had in my life, and it was embarrassing. Our company that came from Ft. Washington to dine with us in authentic Mexican was very irritated, hungry and unhappy.
