The portions that they serve do not justify the price they charge. I ordered a combo plate of masissa goat meat for $30 and there was barely enough goat meat to make a taco with it. They need to be fair with the customers. They charge too much for the portion of food. I have been to other terrific places with same quality for a much better price. read more

Two stars for the al pastor, five for the carne asada -- overall 3. The al pastor was overloaded with condiments and toppings that drowned the pork's flavor instead of complementing it; I wanted more of the actual marinated pork to shine through. On the other hand, the carne asada was cooked perfectly to order with great, well-balanced flavor and a nice char. If they dialed back the extras on the al pastor, this place would be a solid go-to. read more

It saddens me to leave this review as a long term client: they do not have prices on their menu (as others have stated). DoorDash prices are significantly cheaper--when brought this up, they claimed they cannot change online prices. Looks like it's convenient for them to leave their price menu blank to charge at their whim. Paid $45.89 for two sopes, two al pastor tacos, side of rice and beans--same order on DoorDash comes out to $28.10. Good bye forever! read more

This place is the real deal!!! if you are looking for authentic Mexican food with a smile, you have made it to the right place!!! I had the Carne Asada Nachos with everything!!!! Omg!!! The staff were so nice and they all had smiles!!! It really made me feel welcomed! They had a super nice patio with music playing! It reminded me of all my trips to Mexico! I've been coming here for 10+ years, and I've had birria at just about every place in OC. El Cabrito IS THE BEST! It's not the cheapest by far, but worth every dollar for the softest, most juiciest and flavorful meat. Order a plate of 4 tacos and boom, they gotcha on the first bite. There is something special about the birria from here, and there is plenty of parking and outside sitting to seat a party of 10, easy. These are the best tacos in OC hands down, and I know there might be more trendy places and more social media posty places out there in Santa Ana or Anaheim, but I'll stick to this quality over that anyday. I also recommend the agua de piña, agua de naranja or the super creamy horchata to drink. This is homemade mexican food at it's finest. read more

I haven't been here in many years. A friend suggested we go. The mother/daughter team that run this place are phenomenal. The kitchen and restaurant are super clean. The food is amazing. I had 1lbs of carne asada and my buddy got quesabirria. We will definitely be coming back asap. The portions are enough to feed two but why would you want to share. It must be under new ownership. The place was dirty, food was mediocre and service was awful. Our tacos were not served warm at all, definitely did not taste authentic and the birria lacked flavor. After being a customer for years sadly we won't be coming back. The servers were too flirty with the male customers and they took too long to take orders. Amazing service! 10/10. Amazing food. Ordered Lengua tacos and carne asada torta with a side of beans. The food is out of this world. I'm a Lengua taco fan and the way this was cooked is far better than any other place. You get your moneys worth. Serving size for torta was fair. Serving size for tacos was great. Plenty of meat inside. It's outside eating but the Spanish songs on the radio complete the experience. Can't wait to come back and try the birria tacos. The entire menu was available when I stopped by early in the morning for some chilaquiles, but the only breakfast item available was a chorizo plate or chorizo con huevos burrito. I chose the burrito. With tax, it came to $13.11 so I was hoping it would be delicious and filling and it was. But $13.11? I blame Santa Ana for 9.25% tax on a $12.00 burrito but this was an $8 burrito if I compare it to my other favorites in OC. That's 50% too much for this burrito. Eggs went from ten cents each to twenty-five cents, so don't blame eggs because this burrito had about two eggs. I do blame myself for ordering a chorizo burrito at a place known for goat birria. read more

What happened to this place? Tacos without flavor, tortilla that is hard, juice that's cold.. if you ask the food for "to go", there's no salsa and no napkins. I have followed them since they were in 5th street but I have to say that they're prices went up and the quality went down. There was more bone in the tacos and skin than there was birria. It was almost 5 dollars for the tacos. It's NOT worth it... I was not mad about the price, I was more mad that the quality of the taco was bad in general. Now I know why this place is not as packed as it was back in the day. This place was a family tradition for us, but my new generation doesn't like it. read more

I was in the mood for some Birria. This place popped up. Headed on over and luckily found a spot right away in the tiny parking lot in the back of the building. Wasn't too packed when I showed up. Ordered a plate of Birria with bean and rice to go. It came with diced onions and cilantro along with warm tortillas and radishes and some limes! The meat it self was juicy, fall off the bone... just the right taste as if I was back in Zacatecas. The broth it self was the best part. With a few squeezes of lime, it was on point. This is an Authentic and so flavorful Mexican hole in the wall spot worth checking out! Love their free grilled onions and bread chips, so tasty and perfect for the juicy, saucy and messy in the best way barbacoa tacos. Prices are a bit high and it's cash only, but they really hook it up with the meat, so much that you could use and extra taco shell or two to distribute it right. Love the staff here, so friendly and fast, they package to go orders so well and really pay attention to detail. I'll have to come back and try more next time, so far this is one of my favorite spots in Santa Ana for some perfectly greasy feel good food. read more

CONS: parking! I counted about 8 unmarked spots toward the rear of building and maybe 4 parking spots along the wall adjacent to the building. A place this good cannot only have 12 spots total; especially if there is a influx of patrons trying to get there first of Tacos de Birria. For about a month now I've been craving tacos de Birria and this place did not disappoint! The slow cooked meat, laid down on warm tortilla, sprinkled with white onion, cilantro and red salsa. Mouth is Waters just thinking about it. I decided to go with a plate of 5 tacos. Wasn't the best idea in hindsight. I expected to have the regular street tacos. You know the ones that can be inside in two bites. No. These are the ones that are 1 inch bigger all around and filled to the edges with meat. I was struggling to finish my last taco. My wife never says, " hey babe, you doing ok" whenever I eat tacos. She looked at me in disbelief and I felt like I was in an episode of Man vs. Food where food almost won. My wife decided to take the smart route and order the cheese quesadillas and 2 Birria tacos with everything. The quesadillas were amazing warm and gooey, once they are dipped in the home made chili salsa nothing compares. Just FYI, order inside and rest outside in the patio. There is no inside parking so if you send to get chilli, bring a long sleeve. I would go out of my way to come to this place because the food is delightful, plentiful, and the price is right! read more

Self parking in the back, spotted homeless doing drugs by the dumpster. Location is on a main street where medium traffic is present. Seems to be enough seats and tables for a normal, but not busy day. Tables are only outside, but provided with umbrellas. Staff is friendly, quick to get food made (5 tacos in 5 minutes) Place is pricey, but the meat and texture is good and salsa compensate for it. Perfect to come here with a group of friends who are hungry. Come here if ya hungry and have money to spend. read more
