After a long day at the waterpark, my friend and I were starving and decided to search for Mexican food in Santa Ana. We stumbled on this little low-key spot, and Wowww what a find! The food was phenomenal! Authentic flavors, generous portions, and everything cooked perfectly. On top of that, the prices were great, and the service was just as good. Definitely one of those hidden gems I'll be coming back to again.

Trying to support local businesses, we made our first visit today and it was amazing. We started with margaritas and kudos to having a tamarind margarita that was damm tasty. We then ordered a side of guacamole to go with our complimentary chips & salsa. It was a generous, fresh portion. I could have gone for a bit more salt on it myself. Oh, the salsa also very good. The more I ate, the spicier it got. For my entree I took the waiters recommendation and got the chicken mole burrito. It was a good size that was stuffed with rice and chicken and a small amount of beans. As for the mole itself, it reminded me of the mole my mom used to make. I actually got glassy eyed for a moment. My wife ordered the enchiladas suizas and she raved about them. I had one small taste and it was good. This was my first visit but will not be my last. The staff were friendly and welcoming. It's a small location but I imagine on weekend mornings it's packed. I really want to come back and try their breakfast and menudo.

Only complaint was parking. The service was amazing, the food was even better! Love the decorations and the music. Great taste, great portions, fast service and I even got a churro plate for my birthday! The chips were fresh/warm the salsa was nice and spicy! Great service and highly recommend!

    Enjoy delicious Mexican food!!!

Great service and even better mole with hand made tortillas. The server was very attentive from the moment we walked in and recommended their mole when asked what most people order. I ordered the chicken in mole plate that comes with hand made corn tortillas. After eating some fresh chips with watery but tasty salsa, the plate came out. One bite and I realized the mole was the best I've ever had. I ate the plate in seconds. The 3 tortillas were decent and varied in thickness, 1 tasting a little stale but overall still good. I will definitely be back and look forward to trying their mole enchiladas and mole burrito.

Ordered the bean and cheese pupusa and the mix. Along with our order they gave us delicious chips and salsa dip. The dip was delicious and not spicy. The service was excellent. The waiter and waitress were kind and made our experience memorable. Would recommend for their chip and dip alone. Great little spot for a quick bite.

Superb service! Very friendly! I have tried the tacos, enchiladas, pupusas, quesadillas and burritos! All super tasty! Great quality and price! The tamarindo margaritas are a 10/10! You literally can't have only 1!

Pupusas were decent and came with salsa and curtido.

We ordered 2 pupusas, bean and cheese nachos, and mole enchiladas. All dishes were fairly good, but the beans were extra delicious. Our complimentary chips were stale and the salsa was super watery and lacked flavor. Beers were $5 each. Portions were small for the price. My enchilada plate was $12 and literally came with 3 tablespoons each of rice and beans. Value is important to me, and I didn't feel we got our $45 worth. The service was great and a metered parking lot was conveniently located across the street.

Flacky, Juicy, a bit scaly but ots a mojarra!

Pretty solid place for lunch or a casual dinner. Tortillas are good. Chile verde not bad. Sort of a greasy spoon type spot.

The photos caught our eye, but they don't even do justice to the actual experience. The modest facade completely hides the gem buried within; the moment you step through the doors, you are transported into a beautiful, vibrant atmosphere. Despite arriving just before 7:00 PM on a busy Saturday night, we were seated incredibly fast. We had the absolute pleasure of being served by Karla (with a 'K'). Her enthusiasm, attentiveness, and deep knowledge of the menu were top-notch--truly a model for how the entire service industry should operate. As for the food? Out of this world. From the presentation to the flavor, the attention to detail is flawless. It is completely clear that Rosa Madera was created by someone with immense vision and heart, and they've managed to find a staff that shares that exact same passion. We are so hooked that we will absolutely be making the trip back from San Diego with the sole purpose of eating here again. In the meantime, my friends and family are going to get sick of me over the next few days, because I refuse to shut up about this place!

Thanks to Restaurant Week, we stumbled upon this gem, and we are so grateful. The hospitality alone would earn five stars. But then came the food. The tacos? Absolutely exceptional. The steak was tender and flavorful in a way that reminded me of eating throughout Mexico, you could actually taste the meat. A light, gentle pickle of vegetables on top, minimal cheese, nothing heavy or greasy. These are not the American-style tacos drowning in a pound of melted cheese. These are the real thing. The beans were lovely, the rice was solid, and my passion fruit winearita drink was genuinely a treat. Restaurant Week gave us the perfect low-pressure reason to try somewhere new, and we walked out with a new favorite. We'll be back for lunch. We'll be back for dinner. And yes, Taco Tuesday, we'll absolutely be back for that.

Honestly, I have no idea how this restaurant has nearly 5 stars…read more We arrived around 6 PM with a party of 6 adults and 3 toddlers, and we didn't receive our food until almost 8 PM. To make matters worse, one of our meals was completely forgotten. The service was extremely slow throughout the entire visit. Every time we needed something, whether it was a refill, an update, or assistance, the wait felt excessive. The restaurant may have potential because the food itself was flavorful, but it seemed like they were either understaffed or unprepared for the number of customers they had. Another disappointment was the drink selection. We were told they don't have a liquor license, so hard alcohol isn't available. Their sodas were canned, and when we asked for juice for the kids, they told us they were completely out. As for the atmosphere, the restaurant is on the smaller side and felt more like a converted house than a traditional restaurant, complete with a fireplace and television in the dining area. The food had good flavor, which is the only reason I'm giving more than one star. Unfortunately, the long wait times, missing meal, lack of drink options, and poor service made the overall experience disappointing.
