I used to LOVE coming to this place... until I realized their customer service seriously sucked. First off, the food is honestly a little on the salty side, but I kept coming back because I liked the place. Then this happened. I brought my family here for dinner, and when we were closing out the check, the server failed to mention that gratuity was automatically added for a party of 6. I didn't realize it until I was about to sign and saw that I was about to leave ANOTHER tip on top of the automatic gratuity. I was like, oh HELL NO, I'm not tipping $80+ So I asked the server to refund the entire transaction and rerun the payment correctly. She told me she couldn't do that, but said she could refund the extra tip instead. I said okay, trusting that she knew what she was doing. We left. Fast forward about 4-6 months later. I come back with different family members, and the MANAGER comes over and tells me I have an outstanding balance of around $150. At first I genuinely thought he was joking. Nope. Apparently, when the server was supposed to refund the extra tip, she accidentally refunded the ENTIRE BILL and kept the tip. ‍ Now explain to me HOW that was my problem?! I specifically told her I wanted the entire transaction refunded so we could start over, and SHE chose to handle it differently. That was THEIR mistake, not mine. And the worst part? Instead of pulling me aside privately and explaining what happened, the manager brought this up IN FRONT OF THE FAMILY I WAS WITH. So now I'm sitting there being told I owe $150+ in front of my guests because of an error THEIR employee made months earlier. Talk about embarrassing. Thank God I'm in a position where I could afford to pay it, so I paid the outstanding amount AND my new bill that day -- over $300 out of pocket -- just to resolve the whole situation. I paid everything they said I owed for both visits, and I have never gone back since. And I WILL NEVER go back. Between the salty-ass food and the customer service, I'll take my money somewhere else. Las Cazuelas was okay -- not bad, not amazing, just somewhere in the middle. The food had good flavor, but it didn't really stand out the way I expected. Service was good, fast & friendly. The restaurant itself is clean and comfortable, and the prices are fair for what you get. I very much like this place - in the 16 years I've lived nearby, I believe I've eaten there 3 times. They're always very friendly and the dining room is inviting, though worn and old. Sometimes, you can smell the cleaning products they use. Still, I'm all about supporting small business. Don't forget that they have a small breakfast menu which is available at all hours, so if you're craving Chilaquiles at 8pm, go for it. Trying to support local businesses, we made our first visit today and it was amazing. We started with margaritas and kudos to having a tamarind margarita that was damm tasty. We then ordered a side of guacamole to go with our complimentary chips & salsa. It was a generous, fresh portion. I could have gone for a bit more salt on it myself. Oh, the salsa also very good. The more I ate, the spicier it got. For my entree I took the waiters recommendation and got the chicken mole burrito. It was a good size that was stuffed with rice and chicken and a small amount of beans. As for the mole itself, it reminded me of the mole my mom used to make. I actually got glassy eyed for a moment. My wife ordered the enchiladas suizas and she raved about them. I had one small taste and it was good. This was my first visit but will not be my last. The staff were friendly and welcoming. It's a small location but I imagine on weekend mornings it's packed. I really want to come back and try their breakfast and menudo. read more

Great service and even better mole with hand made tortillas. The server was very attentive from the moment we walked in and recommended their mole when asked what most people order. I ordered the chicken in mole plate that comes with hand made corn tortillas. After eating some fresh chips with watery but tasty salsa, the plate came out. One bite and I realized the mole was the best I've ever had. I ate the plate in seconds. The 3 tortillas were decent and varied in thickness, 1 tasting a little stale but overall still good. This was our first time eating here and we have been missing out! My kids loved the beans and rice and homemade guava juice. My husband and I LOVED the chicken mole enchiladas. We typically drive all the way to La Casita Mexicana in Bell to get good mole and this was just as delicious (if not better). My sister loved her carnitas burrito with chile verde sauce. The homemade corn tortillas are bomb. I love that they give you big cups for your drinks. Service was excellent - super friendly and attentive. The bathrooms were clean. I had the three beef taquitos and chicken soup with corn tortillas and a cinnamon coffee and it was really good. The service was is as good as it gets. Very attentive and accommodating. The chicken was tender and still on the bone so it wasn't processed chicken soup. It had all sorts of vegetables in it. It wasn't over salted. The chips and salsa were just right. This is a great spot for some really delicious mole. The owner was really nice and fun to talk with. We had so many questions about the menu and he was very informative and patient with us. CRISPY SHREDDED BEEF TACOS! We wanted to partake in Taco Tuesday since we both had healthy meals all day and were calorie and flavor deprived. The boyfriend had stumbled onto this place a while back but I had never been. We walked in around 7:30 and it wasn't busy. There were 2-3 tables of patrons. I get it, this is the trendy part of Santa Ana where everyone wants jicama tacos or something other fancy twist. Well, that's better for me, because this hidden gem ROCKS! On Tuesdays, they serve up Crispy Chicken Tacos & Crispy Shredded Beef Tacos for $1.60 each. Mind you, these are good sized tacos, not the small street ones. They also make their own tortillas, which are thin yet pillowy. The other tacos average $3.50 each. As for taste, I would say that the Carne Asada was very good, but not my favorite. For Carnitas, it was super tender and juicy, but I probably would have liked a crunchy piece in there. Well, no worries, because the Crispy Tacos kick ass. Look, their meat is seasoned well, juicy, they do NOT skip on the meat and the crispy shells have an amazing crunch! Plus the salsa actually has a slight kick and complements everything super well. You must order Tacos and if you do, make sure you get the Crispy ones. You cannot go wrong! Also, their flan is fantastic. I came in for a quick lunch to go as I had always had a pleasant experience here but this time I chose to dine alone. Knowing what I like from here I opt out of looking at the menu and order my chicken taquitos to go which i know are $6 and a drink. When the bill comes it's 13.59 and I didn't say anything because I thought ehh, it's a small business. They deserve it, ill give it. But to my surprise, my card was charged $21. Service was good and workers there are kind and welcoming but OVERPRICED for basic mexican food that I can buy somewhere else for half the price, fish tacos I got were good but very small for 5.25 each. Boyfriend got a chorizo burrito for 16.25(insane) and said it was boring and tasted bland,when he got the burrito they only gave him literally a small tiny scoop of lettuce for it which I thought was funny but sad. There was some flies and also found few ants. No public restroom, booth seats need fixing as well. I feel bad writing such a bad review for this spot as it seems like a small family owned spot for casual eating but the establishment needs lots of improving in their prices and menu. Oh and we bought two drinks that were 11.50 together which is honestly outrageous not gonna lie. Our tacos barely had any beef/chicken, mostly all stuffed w lettuce and topped with cheese. Taste wasn't terrible but not worth the wait and quality.
