We were really excited because this place had a line out the door. Waited about 15 mins to be sat and our server was really friendly. It became disappointing when the food started to arrive. We got chips and guac and the guac had an overwhelming amount of onion in it. Ok, fine, we were then looking forward to our mains. We ordered the Chicken Enchiladas and the Tostadas. Both had what we would guess as unseasoned boiled chicken. UNSEASONED chicken in a restaurant feels crazy, borderline offensive. Like so bland and boring, and the tortilla the enchiladas came in felt uncooked? So unseasoned chicken in an uncooked tortilla. Really disappointing. I ordered a side of beans (sort of assumed it would come with a side of rice or beans) and it took like 15 mins to come to the table. I wanted to eat them together so I sat with bland food in front of me for 15 mins until the beans could come. Served was busy but didn't check back in on us once the food was dropped. We'd heard about this place and how good the food is, so tonight we decided to try it. WE WILL BE BACK. I saw they have Paella on the menu and had to try it. When I ordered it, the waitress told me it would take about 20 minutes to make this dish. As that is customary for this dish, I ordered it. My wife ordered a chicken burrito.. While waiting, we got to checkout the place and we really liked how unpretentious it was. It just felt like a down home place to eat. When dinner arrived, the burrito looked huge and the presentation was a nice touch. As for the Paella, not only did it look good, it was without a doubt the best I have ever had. Both meals were big enough that we both brought half our dinners home. I've seen comments about it being expensive, sorry but, we go out to eat a few times a month and the meal here was basically the same as we pay for most dinners we get. if you are looking for something a little more authentic than most places around here, this is THE place. The staff went above and beyond and truthfully, you could tell they knew a lot of their customers from past visits. Again, we will be back. read more

Place is very expensive for not a lot of food. 18 dollars for a burrito that comes with zero sides. The carnitas were also mediocre and lacked any sort of flavor. For the price of 23 dollars, I was not thrilled. The best part of our meal was the pre bottled Coca Cola which helped wash down the flavorless food. Service was lackluster but not bad. Came here yesterday however was not feeling well due to the heat and they all were so sweet to me and caring and tried to make me more comfortable but just was not working so today we got to come back and the food was delicious and beautifully prepared and the drinks were made perfect. We tried this place the other day, in the middle of winter. It looks like it would be a nice place to sit outside in the summer. We were a little disappointed that there was no chips and salsa served with our drinks (we had to purchase it). Service was extremely slow even though there was only one other table there at the time. The food was good enough, but someone in our party got fajitas and was surprised by the amount of peppers compared to meat. We found the drinks expensive but good. Carnitas was the the highlight of the night. May go again the summer for a quick snack while we're out and about. read more

Called and ordered take out- today was our 15 year anniversary and between scheduling and weather we decide to get Mexican for family. The last time we ordered from them (Christmas time) I wasn't thrilled but hey I believe in second chances. Order was - chicken fajitas $22 steak fajitas $29, pollo (tacoish) $19 and pulled pork type tacos $18. Fajitas- I asked them to go light on onions and peppers as last time there were WAY too many. I don't mind paying according to meat choices but I do mind paying more and getting only a few pieces (12 pieces and most were bite sized). If you wanted cheese or sour cream it cost an additional $6. Rice and beans less than 1/4 cup and I am probably being generous on using 1/4 cup. Guacamole maybe a tablespoon. And the onions and peppers holy smokes TONS of them regardless of me asking for them to go light on them, I suppose they gotta fill container with something cheap to make it look like you are getting something. The tacos- DRY and tiny! They said three of them but the tortillas were probably like 4" max. They are more like sliders sized but no substance or filling. Top it all off... after eating our stomachs have been turning! Well happy anniversary to us I suppose. $99 on 4 meals and we were all starving. I like to support local businesses, as we live locally and I get costs have gone up on some items. However, I have my limits. I was hungry after waiting in the ER (for the ambulance to transfer my husband to Catholic medical center). I saw that this restaurant was open and that they had a chicken burrito in the menu. I ordered and waited about 5 minutes to get my food. I was looking forward to it but was highly disappointed in the taste, quality and size...especially for $19.53 (that included tax). The burrito had nasty wilted lettuce that was actually brown in spots (I ended up removing it all). It had very little rice in it and lacked any beans. Lots of refried beans and an over abundance of sour cream really ruined the taste. You could barely find the chicken in the burrito. Don't know if I'll come back her again. This is literally the worst Mexican food I have ever had. Steak fajitas were exactly four pieces of meat in each container, and about a pound of limp onions and peppers. $30. Chips and queso? Man, talk about a disappointing experience. My girlfriend and I, craving some Mexican food, decided to look up some of the favorite spots in the region. We noted this spot on Yelp over in Wolfeboro with surprisingly decent reviews. Awesome! Let's go check it out. It was busy for a Sunday night, but the weather was great and the hostess could seat us outside at a small table very quickly. Score! After some back and fourth, we decided on our entrees; A $20+ steak burrito for myself (hey were on vacation, right?) and the chicken enchilada plate for the Mrs.* *One teensy little request by the GF, "Please don't make it too saucy, I would prefer it slightly dryer" she says to our waiter, Chad, or Logan, or some other name I cant quite remember. Famous last words. Que 25 minutes of small talk and waiting around (no complaints, it was in-fact quite a busy night) and our entrees come out. My steak burrito presented well enough, but unfortunately possessed the flavoring of a lightly salted shoe. I take a bite, 'hmm, is this.. kale..?'.... another bite, 'Boy! sure are a lot of refried beans in here for a $20 steak burrito!' another bite, 'Ah! there's a small piece of steak, tastes like a flank!' But if the night ended there, compadres, this would be a 2-3 star evening and probably not a Yelp rant into the abyss, no. We're just getting to the creme de la creme (cremas de cremas for those Spanish speakers out there) of the story. My. Girlfriends. Enchiladas. Feast upon the picture now in front of you (or below, or above, I'm not sure how the Yelp UI works). What came out of that cute little kitchen in quaint little Wolfeboro NH can only be described as an abomination of the Mexican culinary experience. Try to envision three flour tortillas containing chicken dried for no less than 7 years in the Sahara (it was really dry), SMOTHERED in what I can only describe as an overly sweet-marinara sauce..??? Finished with a generous glaze of zig-zagged sour cream finish. Boo-thang takes a bite. Eyes slowly open, wider than the square plate that sits mere inches below her nose. With each chew, she comes to the awful realization that she's actively tasting, consuming, digesting a meal not fit for human consumption. The dry chicken morsels are overcome by a flooding of sweet (and I mean SWEET) marinara sauce. I ask her what's wrong? Is it alright? Terror begins to fill her eyes as her tastebuds catch up to her motor functions. She quietly, but politely, finishes her grueling bite. "No" she says. Gulping down some water, "No bueno", she adds. Conflicted by the competing forces of her hunger and judgement she musters the courage to take another bite. The overwhelming sweetness of the MARINARA sauce continuous to assault her palate. She stops eating from there. Connor, or Hunter (gosh, I cant remember his name) comes over, "Is everything alright?" "It's just okay" my girlfriend replies, let-down by over Canadian-born overt politeness. We get the rest to go. She throws up when we get home. End of night, 1 outa 5. read more

This place has nice outdoor seating, and the service was friendly and helpful, but the food is just OK. My veggie quesadillas were bland and undercooked. The tortilla wasn't browned at all. And they didn't seem to use any oil. It's served with a bit of guacamole and sour cream, which made it a bit better, but I can make my own at home that taste a lot better. The wait here in the summer is ridiculous! Came here in Early August around 730pm and did not get sat down until around 9pm!! The worst part of all this was they did not take down any phone numbers to call. We had to actually sit outside the restaurant and WAIT. I asked why they're not taking phone numbers to call and they stated they are using the phone for take out orders only.......talk about ridiculous?? That's the reason for 3 stars. Otherwise, flautas and the al pastor tacos were delicious. Chips and Guac was good as well. Veggie tacos you can skip. Did not look appetizing and was not all that. They have a house habañero sauce, if you like spicy ask for it on the side! The house margarita was good and so was the spicy mango margarita. They were so short staffed but our server was very nice. SWING AND A MISS..... COULD BE GREAT BUT SADLY THIS PLACE HAS SO MANY ISSUES. Atmosphere/Cleanliness. It's very small inside with a big outdoor area for dinning. It appears clean but I dunno. There something's just off. For one, the toilet in the mens room is broken. I'm trying to not be to descriptive but if your sitting on the John in the mens room. The seat is not attached and will slide off if you move at all. If this is how they treat the bathroom..... what's the kitchen like? Also, they have tables within a few feet of the restrooms, at a Mexican joint. Again not trying to be descriptive but if your sitting there, the acoustics are great and you can get a whiff as people are coming and going just sayin. Food/Drink. Food is EH depending on time of day. I've noticed if you go later in the evening you get stuff just slopped on a plate, smaller portions on sides and ZERO EFFORT put in at all. Even when making a request do to dietary restrictions. Drinks are great, but food is very sub par. Service. Hit or miss, again as long as your there during the day. If you show up with in an hour of serving, they will literally make you feel unwelcome and you'll feel like you have to go. Even if your just stopping in for a quick drink. One time we went, they wouldn't let us sit at the bar, at all even though the restaurant was still open. We could sit at a table just not the bar. Made zero sense. So we left. Cost. Very expensive for what you get, and the service needs improvement. Will I be back? Well since they are the only local Mexican place AND they stay open an hour later, even though they make it uncomfortable for you in that last hour... I will be back until another place is open later. Or a better Mexican place opens up! So I'm giving El Centenario one star for the drinks and one star for staying open to 10pm even though they make you feel unwelcome. Word of advice. If you close at 10pm, that's when you put the stools up, wipe things down. Not at 9pm with customers coming in for the last hour. Some people work later and do not get up at 4am, being blacked out drunk at 5pm. Some people get out of work at 7ish and wouldn't mind a chill spot to relax and unwind. read more

I've been here a few times and the service has gotten progressively worse. We sat for about 20 minutes before our drink order was even taken. We ordered appetizers along with our drinks to get ahead of the rush, but when the appetizers were brought out we had no silverware or napkins to eat them with. We had to ask for silverware three separate times and we ended up finally getting forks when our dinner arrived after asking yet again. This is what my 25 dollar shrimp fajita consisted of. 5 Cold shrimp and veggies in a mush, with random tails of shrimp laying about. In addition, this is the size of rice and beans that costs 6 dollars, no larger than half my hand. You'd be better off eating a meal in prison than paying 40 dollars for a meal here. I can't say enough about the amazing food at this tiny hidden gem in downtown Wolfeboro. I don't think I've ever had a bad meal here. The food is amazing and as authentic as it can be in the northeastern part of this country. Nine times out of ten, I usually get Trés Enchiladas, the molé is spectacular. The atmosphere is loud and inclusive and the place is packed almost every night. My only advice and the only reason I didn't give 5 stars.......beware of the margaritas. This place is absolutely amazing!!! We showed up tonight (July 5th, before the fireworks) and waited almost an hour for a table because this seems to be the only restaurant open on Mondays in the area. The manager, Monica, was SO nice and our server who was a young man went above and beyond for us as well. The servers were not only serving food but also bussing tables, making guacamole and drinks all with a smile. Food was absolutely delicious as well!! As good as Old Town in San Diego, CA!!
