My girlfriend and I both received meals that looked like something I could've thrown together with old leftovers from the fridge.The burrito was poorly made, one side was packed with meat, while the other was just crispy red rice, lettuce, and about half a spoonful of guacamole. After putting the kids to bed on our first night in town (summer season - Thursday night), this was one of the only places open for takeout. We got quesadillas & a burrito and they were all good but not worth the price. We had 4 entrees and they threw in a bag of tortilla chips which was unexpected. They were still quite busy 30 minutes before closing. I will say, the chicken quesadillas was seasoned well. I stopped by this place at 3:30 on a Sunday after doing a hike in the nearby Ossipee Range. I had noticed this restaurant a bunch of times previously when driving by - it's hard not to notice the yellow and blue exterior. In general it was very underwhelming. I give one star for the chips and salsa and another star for the decor and cleanliness. Half the menu was very overpriced (many dishes in the $25-$30 range) and the food was very bland and without much flavor. It was among the most generic and boring Mexican food I have ever eaten. This visit to El Mariachi was in search of authentic Mexican food on a rainy Sunday afternoon, and Wow!! The atmosphere was warm & decorated cleverly. Our bartender, Augustine, was friendly & started by serving us margaritas. We had standard margaritas made with fresh lime juice & a spicy raspberry one. We're off to a great start, as the drinks were tasty! Between us, we had a beef burrito, steak fajita, fish tacos & Sopa de Pollo. Everyone enjoyed their food. It was fresh, authentic & absolutely delicious. Even though the chicken soup was simple, it was full of flavor. Oddly enough, the star of the meal may have been the refried beans. Yes, that's what I said. I never knew that refried beans could taste so good. Food is inconsistent, sometimes it's good, sometimes it bad. The nachos are made different every time and this year they changed the platter to a plate, much smaller portions. The house margaritas have very little tequila in it, you can't even taste it. One server, seems to cop an attitude, if you go in for just apps and drinks. "Is that all you want". Came here after a long hike, so this review was written on a very happy and filled stomach. Needless to say, the food was honestly pretty good. I'd say Americanized Mexican on the east coast all has a pretty average standard of being very good, and this restaurant fits right into that standard. It's nothing compared to something you may find on the West Coast/Mexico itself, but it is very good. The atmosphere was great and the staff was happy and welcoming. We had a good conversations and shared laughs with some of the staff. The ambience again was welcoming! El mariachi more than that my expectations. It was the closest Mexican restaurant to the hotel we were staying at. That is why we initially chose here. Ecstatic that we ended up here. Not a lot of parking, not sure if there was more on the other side of the building. Huge outdoor dining area that would be useful in spring and summer. From the second I walked in, I loved the charm of the restaurant. They were way understaffed, the host who is also the bartender and waiter warned us ahead of time. He told us if we stayed we might have to wait for our food. That never happened. He was right on top of everything . He was visibly stressed, but did a fantastic job. I loved all the decor. Every table top and chair had a different theme. It depicted what life was like in Mexico in the past. More importantly, the food was delicious. They start out by bringing homemade chips and salsa. I ordered the skirt steak tacos. The steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly, very tender. I thought I was in a steak house while I was eating it. My fiancé got a combination of chimichangas, tostada, and chicken enchiladas. She gave me one of the chicken enchiladas and one of the chimichangas. Both were amazing. Both plates also came with rice, refried beans, and guacamole. The rice was good, guacamole was even better. I'm not a fan of refried beans so I didn't taste any. According to my fiancé, they were very good. For dessert, we had fried ice cream. It was made right in front of us. It was pretty much a hibachi show with ice cream and liquor involved. I had a video to attach, but apparently it's too big to upload. Overall a great experience. I highly recommend this to anybody visiting or living in the area. El Mariachi was the perfect spot for dinner with a group of friends! The atmosphere is welcoming and the food was more than satisfying. I visited recently with five friends for a late dinner. Our waitress was extremely accommodating and patiently explained certain menu items to my group. She was fantastic and professional throughout our visit. Every single one of us was thrilled with our meals. Someone literally said "this is the best Mexican food I've ever had" ever 10 minutes after being served. I enjoyed the Mole Poblano (moist chicken with mole sauce) and it was more than on point. Best mole I've had outside of Mexico. It was a little sweeter and more peanut focused as compared to other Mole I've had - perfection! All six of us grown men were so full we didn't even have an opportunity to consider dessert. Stopped by for some grub after a day at the beach. As with the other reviews I will, agree that the food is expensive but what do you expect at a restaurant is prime real estate at the lake. Shout out to our waitress who was covering all aspects of our service from being a waitress to being a bartender. I ordered the paella and it expensive and delicious in the same bite. The chicken was slightly dry but the seafood was plentiful and at the end of the day it was what I was craving. I'm addition, as my girlfriend said the salsa is delicious in that every ingredient hits the pallet at the same time and you are like this delicious and you are like "yum". SUPER NICE OWNER We've been here a couple of times and let me tell you, the owner and the servers are awesome! First, we came in with a party of 6 and they managed to seat us because a party of 4 was willing to move from the 6-top to a 4-top. So sweet. Secondly, we asked if we could seat outside on a gorgeous day and the owner was more than gracious to say sure (even though the waiter was hesitant). So kind. While my family was originally skeptical of a quality Mexican establishment in the region, El Mariachi pleasantly surprised us. We started with an order of fully loaded beef nachos, which were fresh and flavorful. My daughter and I each got beef burritos, hers ground and mine shredded. My mother got the cheese quesadilla without salsa or jalapeños, and my sister got the chicken taco salad. It was like melted Kraft singles in a bowl with red and green specks of I don't know what. House margarita was the bottom of tequilas for $14! Watched our waiter clean & set tables while we waited for our drinks & nachos which he made once he was done with the tables. And to top it off he added on an unauthorized 20% tip to the charge of which I reported to CC Company. On my drive through the Lakes Region, I decided to stop for dinner at El Mariachi in Moultonborough. I arrived here just before 5PM and was seated promptly. The atmosphere is laid back and relaxed with a log cabin setting. The casual clean dining room and bar are in the same room. The walls are decorated with a Southwestern theme. The tables are covered with white linen tablecloth during dinner. El Mariachi serves up authentic Mexican cuisine including the traditional items (tacos, burritos, chimichangas, enchiladas, quesadillas, nachos) and specialties such as tamales rojos, mole poblano, chile relleno, camarones, paella, and more. The bar offers beer, mixed drinks and margaritas. The prices are moderate, entrees $13-$23, appetizers $7-$15, soups/salads $5.50-$11.25. The complementary chips were warm and crisp and the tomato salsa (medium) had a pasta sauce texture with chopped onions. For dinner, I ordered the Chicken Chimichangas ($14), which was a good portion of food consisting of 3 deep fried rolled flour tortillas stuffed with shredded chicken topped with cheese and served with rice, refried beans, sour cream, lettuce, and guacamole. The chimichangas were deep fried golden brown and rolled open with some charred chicken on the each end, very crispy on the outside. However the shredded chicken stuffed inside was very juicy with a moist texture and very flavorful, mild tomato spicy flavor, excellent! The Mexican rice had a gummy texture and overcooked. The refried beans were standard fare. The homemade guacamole was fresh, chunky, and excellent! Overall, the food was enjoyable and tasty and the service was pretty decent. The food arrived in timely fashion very hot to my table in about 10 minutes. The waitress remarked that how I knew my food was ready as I quickly cleared a spot on the table. I heard the bell go "ding-ding-ding" from the kitchen indicating order up! I was offered more chips and salsa, but my ice water was not topped off during the meal. The waitress left me alone to enjoy my dinner as several groups of customers began arriving for dinner. On request, the waitress packed up some the food to go as I declined the offer for dessert (too full!), maybe next visit. On a quick irrelevant note, my waitress had some cool looking wrist tattoos (I was not able to make out the words), which looked very similar to the wrist tattoos of one of my favorite pop singers (Demi Lovato - "Stay" on one wrist and "Strong" on the other wrist.) read more

We sat there for 20 minutes before anyone even made eye contact with us. The service was horrible. The waitress was a complete airhead. A side of guacamole made with ONE avocado cost 12 dollars. The tostados tasted like cat food. Margarita had little to no tequila. She forgot to bring the Coke until the last minute. There are several great reviews for this place and I'm not sure why? The only thing that was half-way decent was the chips and salsa. We were a party of two, and both of us thought it was edible, we ate it because we paid for it. The rice tastes like a tomato, instead of some nice Spanish rice. The burritto was stuffed with a bunch of the yucky tomato rice, a little bit of bland chicken and a whole lot of lettuce. As for the cost - I'd say it was expensive for what you get. read more

While driving through the back streets of New Hampshire we realized we were famished, so we decided to stop in at this Mexican restaurant. We originally decided to drop in as a joke since we saw the "Authentic Mexican" sign out front and thought that this restaurant would be a train wreck. Very quickly we found out we were mistaken which was a pleasant surprise. This restaurant had some of the best Mexican food we have had in a very long time. We typically eat tons of authentic Mexican when in the Boston area, and we were blown away with the food here. Everything from the chips and salsa to the desserts were incredible. We bought tortilla soup, chiles rellenos, as well as enchiladas which were incredible. Everything was cooled to perfection and the sauces here was phenomenal. The icing on the cake was the staff. Our waitress was polite and helpful and didn't judge us as we stuffed our faces. Moral of the story is don't judge a book by its cover and yes, there is great Mexican food in the middle of NH. read more
