We celebrated our Grandson's 17th birthday dinner at Frontera. We've been there on several occasions and the food is always exceptionally delicious. It tastes more like real Mexican food than what the standard establishments serve. The food is always piping hot and served up quickly. Frontera is in a former Chili's building which you would never recognize. The ambiance is fun, bright, colorful and comfortable. It's open and airy, yet you don't hear a lot of noise or other table conversations. We had Queso with our chips and it was a hot, hearty amount served in a cast iron dish. The salsa had a very unique taste that was mildly hot. My husband had the Chimichanga Deluxe, our Grandson had the Chicken Quesidella, and I had the Street Tacos. The Chimi and Street Tacos were served with red rice and Charro beans. The beans alone are worth visiting Frontera. They are served in a savory broth and unlike any I've had at other restaurants. My husband loved the Chimichanga Deluxe. The Street Tacos were served in a warm, soft corn tortilla covered with melted Jack cheese, caramelized onions, shredded cabbage, grilled chicken, cotija cheese and pico de gallo. At the end of our meal, the staff brought our Grandson fried ice cream in a cinnamon sugar shell, and celebrated with a birthday song. I have eaten in and Uber Eats this restaurant. I'd say dinning is at least 4stars. Having it delivered is a diff story. I have had numerous deliveries missing ingredients from what is posted online menu. Just got their frontera's chopped salad and 3 of what should have been in the salad completely missing; beans, cotija cheese, roasted red peppers. The amount of an avocado in salad seemed like a quarter of the whole avocado. I added steak, they overloaded the steak. Sliced cucumbers diagonally to seem fancy yet it was simply to cover the fact that they purposely left some of the items out. I'm not sure I can even support this business locally anymore. read more

We stumbled upon this gem while camping in the area, and we were absolutely blown away. It just so happened to be the one year anniversary, and we got the pleasure of seeing a live mariachi band! Celebrating with the staff was so fun. We enjoyed two delicious juicy carnitas and al pastor tacos, alongside with fresh tableside guacamole But then - our beautiful pitcher of margarita came out. I have been here many times since I initially checked in. The place is in what was an old Chili's spot, and i was worried that it would be just that. Boy was I wrong! The first thing I always judge a Mexican restaraunt on is their chips and salsa. This place delivers! The chips are home made, you can tell because they are warm and not all the same size and shape. The salsa has a bit of a kick but nothing that will burn your nose hairs. Tammy and Nikki are fantastic at the bar. They are some of the friendlies people I have seen working in the food industry in years. They are always smiling and will offer suggestions on whatever you want. As I said I have been there many times and gotten enchiladas, tacos, burritos and the queso dip and everything has been excellent. I consider myself a regular there, and thats not something I say easily. read more

Stopped in tonight 12/26/23 , we were seated asap! Drink order was fast! We had queso /mushroom fundido , was lil greasy but had great flavor! Frontera Tacos & Tequila opened in Tilton last Friday in the former Chili's in front of Lowes. This is the second Frontera in NH, which opened in a former Chili's (North Nashua is the other). The place was redone nicely with colorful decorations throughout the restaurant and upbeat Mexican music. The place has booths and tables in the dining room and more seating in the bar area. There are TVs above the bar to catch your game. The Frontera menu offerings include the standard Mexican dishes, items, and drinks and have very similar offerings and pricing of their sister restaurants, Rio Bravo and Ocho Cafe, in MA and CT. I stopped by recently for dinner at Frontera in Tilton and sat up at the bar. The bartender brought out menus and I requested an ice water to start. The prices here are moderate, $16-$25 range for most entrees. Like before from a previous visit at Rio Bravo in Leominster MA, I ordered my favorite Seafood Chimichanga ($20 plus tax) served with rice, beans, pico de Gallo, shredded lettuce, avocado slices, and sour cream. My food entree was served in about 15 minutes, but I did not receive complementary chips & salsa before my entree was served. The bartender hustled back to the kitchen to grab a basket of chips and salsa. The chips were warm & crunchy and salsa was liquid and mild. The fried Chimichanga was filled with sauteed shrimp, bay scallops, tilapia, mushrooms, onions, peppers, celery and cheese and topped with a seafood guajillo sauce. The Chimichanga at this location was actually very good, with plenty of seafood in every bite including a good amount of bay scallops. The white Mexican rice with carrot & corn was decent and the black beans with cheese were soupy. I finished my filling plate and was offered dessert. However, I was pretty full and was all set. The check was presented, which was $21.80 with tax (NH meals tax should be 8.5% in 2023 and not 9%) and before tip. Overall, a filling meal enjoying one of my favorite dishes (seafood chimichanga) on a very cold night. The place was very busy and the service was adequate on this visit. Now, there are two choices for sitdown Mexican food within a mile in Tilton. In general, I still prefer the other local smaller place for inexpensive Mexican food, but the seafood chimichanga dinner in particular has the edge at Frontera. read more

Frontera opened in Tilton this weekend, so I brought the in-laws out for Sunday lunch. We ended up getting the queso as an appetizer, which didn't taste much different than kraft white cheese slices, melted, with some green chile. We all had the skinny margaritas, which tasted pretty good. The food came out quickly, and was hot upon arrival to the table. They did a great job with the interior and overall atmosphere. I came here two weeks ago. Previously I had been multiple times and always enjoyed the food and ambiance. However after this last visit I can say I will never be eating here again. They double charged me and have been refusing to do anything about it. I was told I'd receive a refund in 1-2 days and they have made zero attempt to actually refund me. I'm afraid I'm going to have to take further action considering the blatant lack of care on this issue - they obviously want me to forget about it so they can keep my money. Our first visit there and the four of us were impressed with the entire experience. Frontera went in where Chili's used to be and the face-lift and makeover is super nice. We were served two baskets of tortilla chips, 2 containers of salsa and 4 dipping dishes. Three of us had Margaritas: a strawberry, a traditional lime and and a strawberry with Mezcal and all were excellent. Our fourth had Bud on tap. We ordered 3 Chimichangas and one chicken Quesadilla. All were served with rice, beans, sour cream and guacamole. The servings were more than any of us could eat and the food was very good! The beans weren't the usual smashed refried beans; the beans were served in a sauce and superbly seasoned. On top of all that, the service was friendly and very good. Coming from California, we've had mediocre experiences eating Mexican food in New Hampshire. But, this is by far the best Mexican restaurant that we have encountered. We both had the combination platter on the lunch menu as well as tortilla soup. It was great attention to detail in all of the foods, the hard tacos or deep fried shells and amazing. The enchiladas are the best we have had outside of California. I hope you give this a try. The service was excellent, the decor is fun and new. This will be a fresh addition to the lakes region. I would also say is to not come here, expecting what you get at some of the other local, Mexican restaurants. This is different, and in my mind, Viva, la de France. read more

Beautiful decor, and the restaurant seems a nice date or family night--but not overpriced. I did not try the other tacos but everyone in my group seemed to enjoy what they tried.
