First time trying this place. We went in between lunch and dinner on a Friday. Only two other tables full. Service was fine. The chips and salsa were great. Cheese dip was good as well. I got the fajitas Texana. Which has shrimp, steak, and chicken. The shrimp was the only protein with flavor. The queso helped. Dissaponted overall with the fajitas. We ordered takeout and it was really good! I had the enchiladas poblanos which came with a very large side of rice. My husband had the seafood chipotle. We also asked for chips and salsa and they gave a nice portion! I hope we can try out this spot in person next time! The reason for the 4 stars was due to a little confusion with the location. The website shows 3 locations at the bottom of the page, but we didn't realize that when we hit the telephone button on the top of the page to call in our order. When ordering, the person taking the order tried to make sure we were ordering from the correct spot, but apparently there was still confusion. My husband drove to the wrong spot to pick up our food, and was out quite a long time for a quick to go pickup. I have a feeling this regularly happens, so maybe there is a way they can make the locations clearer on their website. Greeted upon entering. Friendly staff. Restaurant was very clean. Music playing in the background which allowed for private conversations. Food was excellent. Came out hot and yummy. Had the beef burritos with rice. Two on the plate. Can't see them in pics because of the lettuce on top. Traditional chimichangas were so good. Nice crunch to the exterior with delicious tender beef on the inside covered with a white queso. The tortilla chips and salsa were very fresh. Salsa had a great "zip" to its taste. Definitely will return to this hidden gem the next time we're looking for Mexican food. read more

Came to El Cerro in Surfside for lunch yesterday with my Mom and sister. We like this location better than Garden City - the food has more flavor here. My Mom had the Tacquitos, my sister had an enchilada, and I had the chimichanga. Everything was fresh, hot, and delicious! Our waiter was prompt and business-like. Including tip (no drinks), lunch was $60 for the three of us - but welcome to 2024. We left stuffed and satisfied - so we will definitely be back again. June 4th 2022- I was not thrilled with this restaurant at all. For starters, the waiter only brought 2 of the 3 plates out. The third person in our party had to wait over 5 minutes before hers came (which was a salad... like come on!) In the meantime, the two of us who got our food realized our orders were wrong.. (not the protein asked for and an abundance of sour cream that was not even supposed to be on the plate.. I let it go because I didn't feel like waiting for a new dish.) The service was just horrible!! And the food wasn't great either... I got a chimichanga and it had absolutely no flavor to it, I've had better frozen ones! I ordered the fajitas and to make them vegan they omitted the flesh and substituted with more vegetables, substituted the rice and beans that both have pig fat in them with lettuce, fresh tomatoes and guacamole, and tortillas had animal products so ordered with corn tortillas, hold the sour milk/cream. Server was already familiar with what was/was not vegan so that was super helpful. Salsa was bland but chips plentiful. My friends liked the food well enough, but not enough to come back. This particular El Cerro, is my absolute favorite of the three El Cerro's I've been to in the MB area, and it's certainly one of my favorite fajita & margarita joints on the Strand. My other two favorites would have to be Abuellos, and Habernero down in Pawley's. There's good competition around the neighborhood, I must say! As I hinted above, I am huge fan of their fajita Texanas, which has shrimp, steak, and chicken. (That's my favorite dish in all three places I've mentioned). But, on every third visit or so, I need to have the delicious carnitas! Either way, I always leave fat and happy, after we've split a pitcher of margaritas. Ok so, if you're looking for great food this is a great choice. The food is super good and very reasonably priced for peak season Myrtle Beach prices. Three adults entrées and I got beer didn't cost more than $60 with tip. The wait staff were very good and didn't at all mind stepping in to check on us even though that specific individual may have not been our assigned waiter. They have excellent customer service! Not to mention they have some of the cleanest restrooms I've ever seen at a MB restaurant ever. Way better than the restaurant I paid $50 a head for last night. This place was great. Me and my wife were out looking for another restaurant which happened to be shut down. While heading back to the Main strip to find something else to eat we noticed this place. The outside is very impressive and clean. As we entered the restaurant I started to be a little concerned with how great the placed looked. We were out looking for a cheaper place to grab a quick bite and we have walked into what appears to be on the more expensive side. We decided to still stay and check it out, and I'm glad we did. Prices for appetizers range from $3-$9 and meals from $9-$16 depending on what your interested in. As I said we were looking for a quick bite nothing too large or expensive. We both had decided on two $10 meals which isn't too bad , but then I noticed they had a "Grande meal" for $12.50 and it was more then enough for a quick meal. The food was very good and for the price it can't be beat. We have a local favorite back home that we swear by and this place is just as great.
