Good was top notch. It's hard to mess up Mexican food, but still.. this is one of the better places I've been to. I had a chicken dish with peppers and some cheese. It wasn't smothered and allowed the nice chicken flavor. It wasn't cooked to a crisp neither was the pork. It was really nice and tender. Service was fast and friendly Ambiance was what you would expect from a Mexican restaurant. Colorful. Bathrooms were clean. North Myrtle beach location, late lunch. I ordered the lunch combination #1, no special requests, however the server came back 3 times to ask questions. The lunch combination dish came with a "guacamole salad"....... a stretch to call the few shreds of lettuce, 6 chopped tomato pieces and a tablespoon of guacamole a salad.......Worse, I was charged $5.75 for this. The shredded beef taco had cold, dried out chunks, not shredded beef, was tasteless, had no lettuce, tomato ,onion or cilantro. Charge was $3.00. The whole reason I stopped for lunch here was they have chili relleno's. NO WAY ! A large unidentified pepper, not roasted, no egg batter. The pepper cut open and covered with what tasted like American cheese which was cool to the touch in the center. Obviously microwaved. This was DISGUSTING. The manager agreed to remove it from the bill. The lunch special # 1 was $12.95. In the end, after the taco and "salad", credit card fee and taxes. I was almost as much as the full lunch special price. A true ripoff. Maybe these folks are making Mexican food from a different Mexico? I have lived in 9 different states this was by far the poorest excuse for Mexican food. read more

This is by the the best Mexican restaurant in Myrtle beach/Carolina forest and even conway. It's very authentic, the staff are very nice and accommodating, and the prices are great! I always find myself coming here and having a great time. They've renovated their restaurant too so it's very nice inside. The food hits the spot and their menu has many options. They have plenty of tv's and if you request to watch a game they'll put it on for you. Hands down this is the best restaurant around! read more

Update after eating here a couple times a month for just about 6 years: still our first choice for Mexican in two counties. Yes, it's rather Americanized. Not as much as Taco Bell but this isn't Mexico, it's Myrtle Beach SC. Sometimes you get a bad server - that happens in most places - they don't last long. Is it "authentic"? Surely you don't think "Mexican" is just one recipe from one town in Mexico? To me it's very similar to west border (but not Baja) cuisine which is also heavily American influenced. I like it. If you think the only "real" Mexican food comes from LA or Texas then you might not like it so much. If you think real Mexican only comes from New York City then you'll really not like this. We spend right around $10-12 each here without alcohol. Sometimes up to $20. You can spend more, you can spend less. You won't get out as cheap as Taco Bell though if you're budget tight. If you'd like some tourist suitable Americanized Mexican food then this is really good. If you were hoping for some genuine Oaxacan home cookin' then your expectations might be too high for here. read more

This place is tucked away in a strip mall and we would've never have found it if it wasn't for my handy dandy Yelp app. The chips and salsa were excellent. They brought out one huge bowl of salsa, but because there were four of us, we asked the server for a few extra bowls. He said that the manager would make him charge us if he brought them out right away but would bring more once the meals arrived. Strange, but he still got a nice tip. I ordered the vegetable fajitas which weren't on the menu, for around $10 and they were a bit more cooked then I prefer but were still good. The manager was a bit awkward running around all over the place like he had anxiety issues. I should mention that we were the only people in the restaurant around lunch time. Which made it a bit more awkward. But nothing to complain about. read more

Thought we would try it. Very disappointed with the food. The shrimp quesadilla was ok. The pork carnitas was tasteless, as well as the refried beans. Rice tasted more like Chinese rice. Once the waitstaff delivered the food, there was no check to see if we needed anything else. The restaurant was not busy. But the check was delivered on time. Came here tonight as a woman dining alone. Was very pleasantly surprised to have Annie, who was an excellent server! My taco salad was definitely on point. The Margarita was ice cold and pleasant. Well. My last review was of el patio, that received 1 star. I guess I'm just brutally honest, and have high expectations being I've eaten almost everywhere possible in the conway and Myrtle areas. This place was also a nightmare. The ladies across the way at the other booth got sick from their food, and weren't checked on for about 30 or more minutes sitting there with full plates. I wasn't willing to touch my food... that is not a quesadilla, the other item is a enchilada... not a chimichanga (for anyone that is a big foodie). Which I was supposed to receive a chimichanga and quesadilla. The guac to me personally was just mashed avocados, and tomatoes missing any kind of seasonings, onions, lime, and jalapeños (which should've been fresh not pickled). My companies food was also rough with over salted chicken, EXTREMELY sour tomatillo sauce, and soggy. I can't say anything was good except the chips, and their homemade spicy sauce. When I complained because I wasn't willing to eat it, and the server went to the manager, or owner? Not sure which one. He made a nasty face about it and was clearly agitated about the situation even though it's his job to keep the place up to par, help out with guidance, and make sure the guests are taken care of. Sad food, even a worse manager. If I could go below 1 star I definitely would. read more

We kept looking around to show we were ready to order but didn't even know who our waitress was because she never came by the table. The waitress had been the one nearby us the whole time yet she never came to greet us...rude! She finally comes, takes our orders and we're all set. We ask her for straws for our water. Once she finally took my check she decided to chat with her coworkers for 15 more minutes. Margaritas were good as well :) We're pretty picky about our Mexican food, being from CA and having many places to choose from...sometimes it's hard to find a place that is our idea of good Mexican food. Everything we've ordered was great! The problem with this restaurant is the servers. They just forget you exist. When we come in for lunch, by the time someone comes to take our order we have to leave, as our lunch break is over. I didn't realize right away because it was completely covered in lettuce. When I did notice we couldn't get anyone's attention,by the time we did my husband was finished and I was just DONE. At that point they did offer to make me another plate. If the food had even been halfway decent I might have said yes and taken it home. But NOPE definitely not. This is our "go to" Mexican restaurant when we are in town. The food is good and plentiful. Prices are reasonable and there is often a drink special worth getting. I am a vegetarian and there are lots of options for me to choose from. The first time we discovered the place was on cinco de mayo. We took home free t shirts and that made it a memorable moment also. We have been there a total of 4-5 times since our first visit in May 13 and we have always had friendly servers and great tasting food. Excellent! read more

I went to El Cerro in Carolina Forest for lunch. I ordered Fajitas with shredded beef, what I got was Fajitas with ground beef instead. I tried to get the waitress's attention to tell her it was not what I ordered with barely any taste to it, the waitress was very rude and would not do anything about it. First things first, we are from Ohio, and have acquired a certain taste to the style of Mexican food that Central Ohio has to offer. We have been looking for something very similar to what we grew to love and up until tonight, we have been sadly disappointed with the selection in the Myrtle Beach area. Tonight was the one that we said "Hey, this is pretty good, almost like home". We live right around the corner and are kicking ourselves because we've read a lot of reviews that said it wasn't good. It smells amazing every time we've been to the grocery store, or stopped into pick up a pizza which is next door. The chips were warm and think like we've experienced in most every Mexican restaurant, I like the thin and crispy cantina chips the best, but these were good. My wife and son enjoyed the salsa, and they said it hit the spot they have been trying to fill for awhile. The menu is a little limited, but that's not bad. It's obvious there are different preferences from Ohio as I have been looking for the big quesadilla's like the "Qeusadilla Mexicana" from my favorite place in Ohio, but it's more burrito's and chimichanga's around here. My wife and son ordered appetizer quesadilla's for their meal, and I had the chicken chimichanga, which came with rice or beans. When the food came, I wish I had gotten the appetizer steak quesadilla, because we're used to getting huge 10" tortilla sized quesadilla's and around the Grand Strand area, quesadillas seem to be taco sized, but no here. These were some big quesadillas. My wife's shrimp quesadilla ($7) was huge, and more than enough for a meal. Our son had a cheese quesadilla ($5) and it filled him up. My chimichanga ($11.75) was like two taquitos, rather than a single burrito sized chimi, but it was really good. There was a layer of melted cheese that was literally bubbling on my plate, which mixed in with my rice, and it was just plain good. Overall, we'll be back. It's the best Mexican food we've had since we've moved. The price was about average for everything around. I mean we're in Myrtle Beach, it's going to cost a little more. As also way, I rate it on would I drive any distance to get back here? I would pass up every other Mexican restaurant in Myrtle Beach to get here, but I wouldn't drive even 50 miles for it. If I didn't live here, it would defiantly be on my list as a "Must eat here" when in town. read more
