This food truck came to our complex yesterday and OMG! The BESTTTTT food truck I've had here in Jax. We had the cheese Cachapa (so good!) - perfect mix of sweet with the corn pancake like wrap and the stringiest meatiest cheese inside. The green sauce and garlic sauce I had in the side too, wowza! And the sweet plantains, those things are just one of my favorite foods. And we had the chicken arepa #1 La Reina Pepiada! I wish there were words that could describe how delicious it was. My mouth watered with every single bite. I love this place, I really hope they come back to our complex because I need more The Taquenos were just okay, but it didn't even matter because I was way to focused on the rest blowing my mind to care! Our community does Food Truck Friday and we originally stopped just to grab some ice cream as we already had dinner. The food was smelling delicious so I just had to get something We ordered some appetizers, empanadas and taquenos. The empanadas were good however those taquenos were absolutely delicious!!!! This food truck was in my neighborhood and honestly I've had very few bad experiences with Jacksonville food trucks so I'm always down to try a new one! I am so glad I did. I ordered the pabellon with shredded beef, black beans, white cheese and fried plantain for $9. The meat was seasoned to perfection! And they were not skimpy on the fillings! Arepas are one of the single best things to eat in the world. I've known this fact for 20+ years now growing up in LA. Today I had the best arepa I've had in 20+ years in JACKSONVILLE, FL?! I got the Rumbera with plantains (because plantains are the physical representation of joy in this world) and it was divine. The pork is tender, juicy (but not fatty at all) and so well seasoned. The cheese is a nice sharp counterpoint to the sweet pork and the avocado adds a nice creamy and grassy element. The ajo sauce is creamy and so chock full of wonderful garlic flavor. The arepa itself is perfectly crispy from the flat top it's cooked on, but light and not as dense as others I've had, which is really nice. That corn flavor adds a subtle sweetness that makes these types of sandwiches so darned good. This is the kind of sandwich that I could eat every day. And for $10-$12 bucks, it's not a bad deal. Plus it's big enough to share if you're watching what you're eating too. The service was excellent. The guy who helped me was friendly and my food came out fast and fresh. The truck is clean and I couldn't ask for a better experience. I'be already told my wife I'll take her and started following them on social media. Honestly, this was a wonderful meal. I've only had Arepas from a specialty grocery store so I knew what to expect but this time it would be more authentic and not made for mass production. After leaving Jaxcot I ended up returning because my mother hadn't had the chance to go so I tagged along with her. I originally was not going to get anything else to eat since I still felt stuffed but what's the harm in picking up a little dinner for later? Standing at one end of the food truck line-up a scanned and rescanned the trucks and decided to go to the one right next to me, this truck. How can anyone decide on one arepa over another, honestly? I decided to get one that's a little different than the rest, the #3 Pabellon Arepa. This thing turned out to be a lot bigger than I originally thought it would be and I should have split it but I had a policy of "No Leftovers today!" so I finished it all. OMG I want all my sandwiches like this! The pulled beef was seasoned, tender and you're given a generous helping of it. The rice, beans and plantains are hiding underneath and will make an appearance about halfway in and come spilling out. Did I care? NOPE! It was that dang good. My goodness this place is good. I hadn't had it in so long and it did not disappoint. Hot, fresh, meaty, and creamy (from the plantains and black beans). The flavors meld together perfectly. I had a Venezuelan friend in high school whose Grandma made the best arepas. I've hardly ever been able to even find them again, so I was thrilled to find this place. I don't have the menu pulled up for names reference, but we got one with roasted pulled chicken and avocado, and one with shredded beef, black beans, and plantains. My husband liked the chicken best, and I was all about the beef one. The plantains gave just a hint of sweetness, and the rest was savory and super flavorful. Loved the cilantro sauce on the side. In case you're new to arepas, I'm sure you can find a better description on Google, but I'd describe it as a round Latin panini, but instead of bread it's like a corn meal pita cut in half. Wow. Got the cahcapas with beef. Off the motherfucking chain. Seriously one of the best things I've ever eaten. I've eaten at this truck a few times. The arepas are very good and the empanadas are nice too. I had no idea what a cachapa was before just deciding to go for it. Think cheese and meet omelette but the omelette is a mix of eggy sweet cornbread batter. It was fucking incredible.
