I had a beef super burrito, my wife had street tacos and my son got 3 quesabirria. Lots of flavors, chips were made fresh as was the fresh guacamole. Restaurant is very clean. Was expecting the usual gushy mess, but to my delight, I got chips/chicken in a container, with cheese sauce, guacamole, sour cream and salsa in separate containers. I had two crispy chicken tacos and they tasted like the love child of a Jack in the box taco and an authentic crispy taco. If I had been intoxicated, I certainly would have found comfort in the taco grease. Unfortunately I was sober but could still appreciate the traces of authenticity. My daughter had a bean and cheese and rice burrito and it was something I would order again for her. My boyfriend had a steak burrito. His review: "Some foods just taste better at 2 AM" HOWEVER: The salsa is REALLY good! Upon initial inspection, the chips are sad pre-bought thick rounds, and I was super disappointed to see only 3 kinds of salsa: mild red, mild green, and HOT. I have wandered past this joint a few times, and wondered how they stay in business when they are only 16 hours a week! On a rare kid-free weekend, I had the good fortune to be in the area during their miniscule window of open-ness (Friday and Saturday nights) and seized the chance to sample their wares. As Davey wrote in a previous review, there is a certain kind of clientele that arrives at the ONLY open restaurant within staggering distance of 5 bars. This makes the hired security guard INSIDE seem a prudent business decision, as well as making one ponder the need to order food 'to go'. While the scenery was both horrifying and amusing, I can't say the menu offered much in the way of choice, nor thriftiness. I can't blame them for adding an extra zero on the end of nachos, tacos and burritos to the 2 am crowd, and it did remind me of college days, when a friend of mine would always be the designated driver, and would stop for gas every 2 blocks on the way home so another drunk passenger (aka his friends) would have to cough up $20 for gas. (A guy's gotta pay for college somehow, I suppose). I honestly can't even remember what we ordered (and none of us were drinking, nor drunk), but it was totally unremarkable. Eaten here and haven't had problems in the past other than waiting an hour for my food late at night. This time I arrived and everything was golden. Waitress couldn't understand that I wanted two orders of tacos, gave us a tiny bag of chips to feed our whole group and meanwhile the single solo person in front of us gets a large bag to feed himself. The only business in Old Town Roseville worthy of 4 stars. This menagerie of taco henchmen and mujeres whip up pretty authentic tasting tacos, with plenty of good customer service. I daren't imagine how they put up with the emptying of the bars around 2am, where all hell breaks loose. Spike-haired losers with raised trucks have spent most of their unemployment on drinks all night, and are feeling emotional after an unsuccessful last call expedition. They end up here, and fueled by unbridled testosterone and savage disappointment, urge some of the males who WILL get laid that evening to get into fights with them. You should try not to be present at this time, and have your tacos and chips in stomach by then. Good people watching; I saw a chick and knew her name from earlier that night, Jessica, weighing in at probably around 25 years old. The difference when I saw her later at El C was that she had just taken about 60mg of Valium with her last few drinks and when her food came to her, she had forgotten what she ordered and threw a slow motion fit, eventually just eating what was brought to her---hilarious! As a budding pharmacist, I wanted to tell her that benzodiazepines cause amnesia, but try telling that to someone who probably just dropped out of high school, or is possibly still in it. I would recommend the steak tacos. There is a choice of crispy and soft; I went with the latter but was told that the cripsy tacos are where El Charro garners it's local fame. Quite good. Having unlimited nacho access will increase your chances of gastric upset in the morning, so be you warned. read more

5 stars all the way. Very authentic Mexican food at a good price, and outstanding customer service. I ordered the tres carnitas tacos and a corona. I'm not quite sure how, but somehow the lady who was taking my order and myself ended up in conversation about where are families are from in Mexico, then we moved onto talking about prime locations to open a business and be successful. She was very personable and took pride in her business and making sure her customers were satisfied. I love seeing independent, family owned businesses succeed.
