Again, last night we all had a wonderful dinner and service at Meridian's. Suggests reservations, especially on Wednesday Prime Rib night.

They also have a salsa bar with chips, which I loved because there were so many different salsas to try. The chips were fresh, and the salsas added the perfect kick to the meal. The food was flavorful, the portions were generous, and everything felt fresh and authentic. If you're craving really good Mexican food and tacos, I definitely recommend stopping by. I'll definitely be coming back to try more food .

Cashier guy taking the order and rang up the bill was nice, friendly and helpful. The server who wanted to be elsewhere doing something else just threw the food on the table then stomped off in a huff. Now the bad: The place is a dump. It's a dive. Not clean. Dining room is cramped. Furniture is uncomfortable crap. There are telephone, electrical, security camera wires dangling from walls and ceilings. The place looks like it was last painted in the early 1970's. I took a peek into the kitchen and storage area and wished that I didn't. It's awful. Looks like a hoarder's storeroom. I tried to use the restroom. The toilet was clogged, water running over the top of the bowl. I don't know the last health department inspection grade, if an inspection has ever occurred. Really, I've eaten at 100's of sketchy cheap eats dives in dozens of developing countries, this place is worse than most of those. Despite the yummy food I don't think I'd return. My spouse and her sister also loved their food but were disappointed with the room.

But they definitely got the last laugh when I went for a birthday celebration last Thursday. Every one of the six omakase dishes was impeccably executed with the freshest, locally sourced produce and ingredients and chef-y flourishes. I greatly savored everything and ate my words. I didn't know what to expect, but based on the name, I knew I was coming for omakase. Andrew explained what it was, a fusion of Japanese & Mexican cuisine with locally grown ingredients all prepared at the bar. (It appeared that the kitchen was just for dishes & supplies.) He said some things I couldn't translate in my head (not because it wasn't English but because I have trouble hearing), but i knew I wanted Omakase, so confirmed we were going with that. They are very attentive to allergy sensitivity as they asked prior to preparing the meal. Be prepared for the price at 85pp, but it was absolutely delicious. Each 1 of the 6 course meal was a unique blend of the cultural flavors. The staff explains each plate as it comes out in carefully plated presentations. I also had the honey glazed ice cream topped with caviar. Everything was delicious. I was able to walk in but I happen to come in before the dinner rush. I recommend making reservations if you wanted to assure a spot.

Since every state in Mexico cooks staples differently we were curious to try Oaxacan Cuisine. The restaurant feels like a restaurant in Mexico, we sat in the second back room and we felt like we were transported to a restaurant town in Mexico. The server was great, nice and friendly and the food was amazing! I ordered their Oaxacan Style Ceviche and it was so good! It came out in a molcajete style plate, and it looked small, however it wasn't, the portion was generous! Our family member ordered the pozole and they shared it was also delicious. (We didn't try it because we don't eat poultry but it smelled so good). Overall great stop, and we will be stopping by when we're back in the Rocklin area.

I ordered from their Mezcalito Specials menu (green) and chose the Baja Fish Tacos ($18). I like the part that it came with rice and black beans. It included two fish tacos. Since I couldn't decide between grilled or fried I got one of each. The fish were beer battered with cabbage, mango, pico, avocado | opted out of the cilantro and onion | Chipotle Aioli on the side just in case I found it too spicy for my taste. It turned out that it added to wonderful flavors on the tacos. Unfortunately, the chips and salsa was not complimentary. Purchase separately. The servers were friendly and welcoming and it made for a pleasant first time experience! There are two dining sections so don't fret when you see the dining area full as you enter the restaurant. There is also a picnic bench under covered roof outside patio dining. You won't be disappointed! No wonder they are at almost perfect 5-stars in Yelp. Instagram: @mezcalitorocklin Review #4055

The very tasteful decor is still in place creating a pleasant environment to dine in, and the dining room offers plenty of space for parties of all sizes.
