Just walking distance from the Carnival Cruise Port in Ensenada! Top pick on yelp, so had to check it out! From the reviews, fish taco, shrimp taco and burritos were so good, so we got all of it! Prices are good, came out to $2.38 per taco. Everything is homemade, authentic, and staff is very helpful. We will definitely be back if we cruise again soon!!! They do take US Dollars, seating is limited, but service was fast

My wife and I stopped at El Chette while visiting Ensenada on a Royal Caribbean cruise, and it was easily one of the highlights of our trip. Located right at the port, it couldn't be more convenient--and the food was absolutely incredible. We tried the adobado, shrimp, and carne asada tacos, and every single bite was packed with flavor. The adobado was tender and perfectly seasoned, the shrimp was fresh and juicy, and the carne asada had that smoky, savory taste you only get from a proper grill. The tortillas were handmade and added the perfect touch. The atmosphere was lively, welcoming, and authentically Baja. Pair that with the unbeatable location, and you've got the perfect stop before or after exploring the port. If you're in Ensenada--whether on a cruise or visiting on your own--El Chette is a must-try. Hands down some of the best tacos we've ever had!

Quite possibly the best carne asada tacos I've ever had. I would come back here in a heartbeat.

Small place right off the port next to all the tent vendors. Only 4 - 5 picnic tables inside. No menu, but they will let you know what they have...carne asada, pollo asada, camarones (shrimp) and pescado (fish). Tough to hear, so not everything is heard when ordering and your order might not come out correctly. But the food is delicious. The tortillas are fresh and the carne asada is very good! Love a stocked fridge full of Mexican Cokes, Sprites and Topo Chico! $19 US dollars for 3 Cokes, 1 cheese quesadilla and 4 carne asada tacos.

A great place to get authentic Mexican food near the cruise terminal! In addition to offering the menu in English and Spanish, the food was great and you could see them roasting the meat on the grill (caution- this does generate a lot of smoke so people with breathing issues should be careful). We ordered tacos de tripa, carne asada, pescado, and the vegetarians in our group had a torta with plenty of guac, beans and cheese. Lots of salsa on the table as well, and you can pay in pesos or USD!

Love the real Coke with actual sugar!

Tacos El Chente a quaint little stand located just off the port and a 5 min walk to a happy belly. The hand made tortillas legitimately put these tacos over the top! Now I know American taco spots opt for already made tortillas which lack the flavor and freshness but stop by El chente for the real deal hand pressed tortillas to carry the delicious proteins of choice into a hungry belly!

My wife and I just finished a short 3 days cruise down to Ensenada. We had watched a bunch of Youtube video's that had recommended "Taco El Chente" as a MUST try stop for really good tacos, so we had to check it out. El Chente is located right next to Plaza Civica de la Patria at the corner of Lazaro Cardenas and Alvarado. If you are walking from the cruise ship port, it's about a 10 to 15 minute walk. If you catch the cruise ship shuttles into the town, it's less than a 5 minute walk from where the shuttle drops you off. At first glance the taco shop look more like a car port with a kitchen in the back. There are a few picnic tables to sit and eat. But the staff was very friendly and the tacos were good. There was no menu, the waitress just told us what they had. We tried a chicken and a beef taco. Both of them were delicious and full of flavor. In comparison, they were just as good as the taco's I have had in San Diego, so I wasn't blown away. But they were still good. If you want fish tacos, the taco shop next door to them does all the seafood tacos. We did not try any of those, but were told they were good. And from what I could smell...it sure did smell good. Overall, this place is worth a try. Each taco was about $1.50 each which was a great value. We will definitely be back next time we are in town.

It's almost midnight, but Tacos El Chente is in business, and cooking delicious tacos!

Tacos El Chente is unique among Ensenada taquerias, as they're open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so no matter when you're in the mood for a taco, Tacos El Chente is there to satisfy your taco craving. I actually visited this fine restaurant back in September, 2018, and I'm just getting around to posting my visit. Color me "lazy..." Like most small restaurants in Mexico, there is no posted menu, so you just ask the friendly staff what they have on hand, and they'll prepare your order for you. It's also a good idea to agree on the price when you place your order... remember... you're in Mexico. If you venture out of the "tourist areas" in Ensenada or any other Mexican city, I recommend a basic knowledge of Spanish, as at Tacos El Chente, English isn't spoken. Like most every small restaurant in Mexico, there is no menu, so you just make a request to the staff, and if they have what you want on hand, you'll get your order prepared, perfectly. I wanted fish, but due to the insane lateness of the hour, all they had on hand was chorizo... so guess what? I ordered two chorizo tacos! Each taco began with two toasted corn tortillas, which is the "norm" in Mexico. I really wanted seafood, but at midnight, you get what you can get, so I settled for choirzo, as that's ll the restaurant had to offer. No worries, as the chorizo was fresh, and delicious. Chef Jim told me that the chorizo was made locally, by his grandparents, and I don't doubt what he said, as the chorizo was delicious! Of course a taco wouldn't work without diced onion, pepper, cilantro, and in the case of Tacos El Chente, a large helping of amazing guacamole graces each taco! These tacos are absolutely amazing, and are as good as tacos get... anywhere at any price. As if to heap on the praise... these delicious tacos came to MEX $20.00... I was a bit disappointed that they were out of fish and camarrones, but since it was nearly midnight, a couple of tacos de chorizo seemed to hit the spot, as that's a very popular breakfast selection in Mexico. Tacos El Chente makes delicious tacos! The staff is SUPER friendly, the food is delicious, and ... 24/7/365 for tacos at less than a dollar each? How could I not give this great restaurant five stars?

He tried getting me to order me guacamole and chips, I asked how much, he said $14 USD, I declined yet he still tried to bring it to my table which I declined a second time. Payment is cash only (USD accepted). That said, the tacos were delicious. The meats were marinated so well and were addicting. The tortillas were handmade and had an excellent texture. Prices might not be the cheapest but it's worth it for a great meal.

While all the cruise ship passengers are getting their drink on at Papas & Beer (we started there)…read moresave your appetite and head a block away to La Comadre for some of the best tacos you'll ever have. It's not hard to find, but unlike so any other options, it's not loud or flashy. We weren't ushered in by some guy on the street promising "the best" of anything. It's small, but clean.. you order at the counter.. my wife and I were the only gringos in there, and we don't speak Spanish. We were quickly presented with a sample plate of all the meats available for their tacos. The wife and I each got a Birria taco and I also got a chicken taco with some of the best Mole sauce I've ever had. They had a table set up in back with all the fixings and salsas you could ask for and the tacos came with beans and rice. We grabbed a bottle of water from the cooler, and the whole meal came to $13 with a tip!!! I mean, that's an unbelievable value for your money. The tacos were incredible. The beans and rice were delicious and the corn tortillas were homemade and some of the best we've ever had. The wife and I often use Yelp! to find places exactly like this, and once again, it did not disappoint. If you're in Ensenada do yourself a favor and skip all the hype spots and go find this place for some amazing food at incredible prices!!
