    2 tacos governor QUICK LUNCH
    Nina R.

The shrimp gobernador is the star here, so I popped in with some friends to check it out last weekend. We arrived at lunchtime expecting a wait, but there was a table immediately available for us. Lucky us! The shrimp gobernador did not disappoint, and it had a delightful kick - hooray! We also tried the chile relleno plate (my husband doesn't like shrimp), and that was a surprise hit! It comes with handmade corn tortillas, and they were divine. The interior is dark, but it works.

The food was tasty, and flavorful. The service was great, they were very attentive. The ambiance is really colorful, and party feeling. I enjoyed the experience here. We came here for Brunch, and we were completely impressed with everything. See you soon, we'll be back.

The 4 stars is only for the miches. Love the variety of miches they have . So good!!! Loved the mango! Not cheap Mexican food. My plate was $21.99 but I didn't love it! It was the carne asada plate with handmade tortillas plus a few sides. Servers were friendly but most only spoke Spanish. I'm bilingual so no prob just letting those that only speak English know. Not busy but was told they're usually busier around 7pm. Place is brightly colored! Located in downtown Oxnard ... great place to get drinks with friends. I'd be back for the miches!! So glad my friend, Melissa L. recommended and introduced me to this place. As an Oxnard native, I can't believe I hadn't visited! Def some of the best miches I've had. I'd pass on the food :) just because there are so many yummy Mexican spots around here, for food it would not be my first choice. I see myself here with friends having miches soon though!!!

The food looks good but Does NOT TASTE good and the service was great but food was a NO. Micheladas were ok they were a little watered down and shrimp doesn't taste fresh.

Went to try this place after not being there since the pandemic well I was a bit disappointed the wet burrito according to my husband was delicious I myself got the mojarra frita plate it's served with fries a salad and rice&beans it was delicious specially because they give you this great red salsa along with fresh yellow corn tortillas the issue was with the tostada mixta it was truly disgusting it had a harsh refrigerator freezer burn taste plus the vegetables and fish tasted old and were mushy the staff was great and friendly they are a bit pricey I would return but not often honestly

Great service! It's my 2nd time having dinner here and food was great on both occasions. Shrimp tacos, governado tacos, shrimp coctel all delicious- salad was fresh, rice and beans taste authentic AND TORTILLAS ARE HANDMADE ! They care about serving good fresh food ! Muchas gracias :)

On our way to Santa Barbara, we decided to exit and look for a restaurant to eat lunch - so off the beaten path for us we checked out this place. They have the most extensive list of michelada I've ever seen - it was a crazy selection. We got the Chililada which is the tamest from their list and the Shrimp in Chili Lime sauce which was good but too much acidity. The shrimp were perfectly cooked though. Their rice and beans though are to die for - probably the best beans I've ever had! Soooo good!!! I'm not sure if I'll come back to this if I'm ever in the area again but if i do I'm just getting the rice and beans.

So pleased with this meal. The green sauce is the perfect level of spice and the tequila was an excellent accent to my fiery burrito!

I went there for lunch on a weekday, and I was pretty pleased with the service and food. The woman at the counter did speak English so that's always feels more comfortable, especially if you have any special requests. They have an open kitchen where they assemble orders, and the cook was rather friendly. I ordered a roasted pork burrito (I can't remember the name, but it's not carnitas). The meat was tender and tasted like it was slow cooked. The tortilla is not anything special, but all the fillings (rice, beans) were good. There is larger rice than beans ratio, but they give plenty of meat protein. I have been here several times in the past. I remember totally ratchet seating areas, where there were large holes in the floor. There seems to be some updates and the seating area is cleaned up (but I've only done takeout). They now also accept credit cards. For a low cost burrito, this is satisfying. Most burritos are ~ 10.

I loved the carne asada burrito but could have had just a touch less salt! I didn't love the crunchy shredded beef taco! Food: very tasty. We went on taco Tuesday, $1.99/ea and It's a buffet! Many choice of protein, toppings and salsas. Service: very nice people Ambiance: just fine. Bar: tasty margaritas at $10/each They also offer Mexican Sunday brunch BUFFET! Not many in our area. We have to try that next time. Thanks.

Our group of friends recently dined here, and unfortunately, our experience was disappointing…read more First, we were surprised to find that we were charged for the chips and salsa without being told there was a charge. It was only a dollar on each (5 ) of our bills but they should have told us. Many Mexican restaurants provide them as a complimentary appetizer, so it would have been nice if the server had let us know beforehand. The biggest issue, however, was the service. One person in our party never received his meal. We had to ask about it, and we were simply told, "It's coming," with no explanation or apology. We ended up waiting so we could all eat together, so my soup was cold and I ended up not eating it and had to take it home. When the bill came, I asked what had happened. I was hoping the server would apologize or at least explain the delay. Instead, she didn't really answer my question. Only after I commented that they must have forgotten it, server said his meal had burned and the kitchen had to remake it. It would have been much better if she had communicated that to us from the beginning instead of leaving us wondering what was going on. Throughout the meal, the server rarely checked on our table to see if we needed anything or if everything was okay. Given the long delay and lack of communication, I also think it would have been a nice gesture to either comp the delayed meal or at least remove the charge for the chips and salsa. And normally we would tip less but she added the tip to the bill Unfortunately, what should have been an enjoyable dinner with friends turned into a frustrating experience because of the lack of communication and customer service.
