I was recently there with my family and overall we had a really good experience. The place was super clean, the ambience was nice, and even though they were pretty busy, there was no wait time which I loved. Everyone there was sooo kind and welcoming,except for our waiter, Bere, was okay, I'd give her a 3/5. I did feel a little rushed when ordering and she wasn't the most patient with my questions Now the FOOD... sooo good!! My mom and I both ordered the coctel de camarón y pulpo and it was AMAZING, super fresh, flavorful, and tasted really authentic. My dad got the pescado zarandeado and that was just as good. Honestly, everything tasted sooo freshhh and just really well made. They definitely know what they're doing in the kitchen. I took my son and daughter to Lalo's for lunch today. We were greeted kindly, our waitress was great, and the atmosphere was nice. All three of us ordered Micheladas, followed by our food: Juanita's fajitas (steak, shrimp, and chicken), a large shrimp cocktail, and a shredded beef enchilada platter. Halfway through our drinks, my son noticed that the shrimp on his Michelada was not deveined. Neither were the shrimp on mine or my daughter's--nine total. As we were discussing it, our food arrived. We asked the waitress if the shrimp in the large shrimp cocktail were deveined. She said no, so we politely apologized and asked to cancel the dish. The manager/owner then came over, clearly unhappy, and asked if we wanted something else. We said no, as we already had enough food. While she was speaking to us, everyone in the kitchen, along with the waitstaff, was staring at us. The manager later returned to our table to inform us that we need to ask if shrimp is deveined before ordering because we had just wasted food. Again, every employee in the restaurant was walking back and forth, staring at our table. We didn't argue; we agreed with her and apologized once more, though my adult children were very upset. When we finished, we left politely and tipped our waitress 22% because she was kind. As for the rest of the food, the fajitas had no flavor and pieces of the chicken were gray--the worst I've ever had. The enchilada platter was extremely dry and completely bland. We were so excited to try Lalo's, making this experience deeply disappointing. We will never go back. read more

The service was good but the food was not. I grew up with Lalo's on the avenue and have had lalos in Camarillo- not the same as this. My shrimp ceviche was super spicy... my daughter's kids burger was dry... the burrito sauce tasted ketchupy. Just not good. Waitresses were good though. read more

The restaurant has plenty of parking and seating available. The food is good but their salsa I feel is always a bit too strong on the cumin taste. Food tastes fresh and made to specification, other than you're not actually allowed to pick your sides for dishes without extra charges. You're meal comes with rice and refried beans only. Our server did mention they're getting new menus soon so it'll be nice to see that update. Portions are well served for the prices. Oscar was super attentive which we appreciated. I have been coming to Lalos every weekend for the past month and never had any issues until today. It started with the hostess asking if we wanted a booth. We kindly said yes, but when I noticed there would be a wait for one, I asked if we could sit in the bar area since there were clearly several empty tables available. She told me there were no tables open there. Moments later, a woman with her two kids walked in after us, and the hostess immediately sat them in the exact same bar area. When I asked why we weren't seated there after I had asked first, she simply said, "I didn't have anything available then, but now I do." Once we were finally seated, we ordered a beer and a Bloody Mary. It took over 20 minutes to get our drinks. If I hadn't gotten up myself and asked the bartender if I could take the drinks that had been sitting there ready for quite a while, we probably would have waited even longer. I literally had to carry my own drinks to the table. To make matters worse, we ordered our food at the same time as our drinks, and it took over 40 minutes to receive a simple plate of menudo -- and it didn't even come with a spoon. When I complained, the waitress said she had put the order in right away, but clearly someone dropped the ball because the food appeared to have just been sitting under the heat lamp. What disappointed me most was that not once did a manager come over to check on us or address the situation, even though the staff clearly knew we were unhappy and we expressed our concerns several times. They are so money hungry. My fiancée had a gift card from years ago and we recently tried to use it and they denied it saying they didn't take them anymore because they switched to a gift certificate.. they sent us to the Ventura location which also said they didn't accept it. Managers kept giving us the reach around and NEVER tried to resolve anything or be helpful.. no store credit nothing. So now we're out $50 and they don't care. Super shady "FAMILY" business. I don't live and Oxnard, but my family has lived in town for 1/2 a century. Those that live here swear by this restaurant for quality of food and service; especially for their shrimp cocktail. So I wanted to see what all the hype was about. I was in town with a party of 22 people. We showed up on Ash Wednesday and the restaurant was pretty full. We were seated with 15 mins. (Just enough time for them to arrange the seating), we were quickly served chips, salsa and they took our drink order. 3 serves came carrying drinks, while our primary waitress took our order. She captured everyone's order, and timely for the party our size it came out. We ordered several of the following Calamari Lalo Poblano Tostadas de pescado Shrimp cocktail Shrimp tacos Side of fries 7mares caldo Aguachilies Beers Michalada Margaritas All were satisfied with their meals and drinks. I personally had the shrimp cocktail and it was really yummy, full of shrimp and avocado. Our waitress returned to bring us more chips, crackers, ranch and drinks. We had a nice relaxing meal, on a busy day and the waitress never faltered. She gave us great customer service. Also pricing is very reasonable for what we ate and drank. Overall my experience is not as I expected. I came here a couple times and last time I came was like a few months ago and prices are higher than I expected.. food was not the best quality. I payed 26 for a nopal azteca and barely even had anything.. just pure soup and like 5 items inside of it. Service is good nice staff. I was really surprised to see the average rating for Lalo's here on Yelp, because my family had an amazing experience. We all thought the food was excellent and incredibly delicious. I probably had the best carne asada burrito I've ever had at a Mexican restaurant. My wife's chile relleno was perfect, and even my son's chicken nuggets and fries were really tasty. We can't forget the guacamole appetizer--it was so good too. As for the service, they were fantastic: attentive and helpful with everything we needed. Part of the Oxnard Taco trail. I wanted to check them out as I have not been here in a few years. At 5.95 each taco, I don't think it was crazy expensive but there's tons of meat and it's a large taco. Not a mini street taco. It was a pick up , so I don't get to see the vibe but I do know it's a family owned fam friendly spot. I think burritos are 13 bucks and huge. Maybe I'll try that next. I usually like boiled beans not refried and no rice. I'm picky with my Mexican rice. Not sure if they'd accept modifications to their items. I'll see at a later date but my siblings love this place. I had a negative experience at Lalo's. I found a beetle in my pancake and notified the waitress. She assured me it would be taken care of, but when it came time to settle the bill, she was nowhere to be found, and no one else seemed to follow up on the situation. I was left feeling ignored and disappointed by the lack of attention to customer service. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. To Alejandro, I can guarantee if you ask your staff at the Oxnard location I went mid day yesterday . What was wrong was the staff never coming back and fixing the issue. There was no communication within your waitress or the lady what was in charge that day. Nor did they even replace my meal. Every time I'm in LA I'm driving up here to tap into outstanding mexican seafood. We shared the grilled octopus and seafood cocktail. The octopus was delicate and fresh, (it wasn't like eating gum), the seafood cocktail sauce is a perfect blend of tomato and lime and spice. The seafood is fresh. The bad thing about any platform where people can rate a business is that people usually only take the time to post bad reviews so it's hard to really get a good idea of what to expect. Even when reading food reviews, what some people find "gross" isn't an issue for others. But to me what matters is how the business responds to customers who feel they were treated in a way that compelled them to reach out and voice their displeasure. I had an issue at another location but ended up speaking with Alejandro, and I have to say he was sincere and kind and really cared about my experience. So far everything I have tried at Lalos has been amazing but tonight , at another location, I had an inconsistent experience that bothered me enough to reach out. Even though it was after hours and a Friday, Alejandro took the time to immediately respond to me and hear me out. My issue wasn't with food quality or rude service but inconsistency in my ability to order an item so I understand why an employee might be confused but it could have been handled differently and thats why I reached out. Alejandro is who business owners should be. He heard me out, was kind and empathetic but also willing to solve the issue so it doesn't occur in the future.. I don't believe the customer is always right, and I know businesses deal with people trying to steal food and get free meals all the time and it's truly sad that they have to deal with that. But I do appreciate an open mind and a willingness to find a solution which is exactly what he did... So I 100 percent recommend eating here and you can know that the owner is responsive. I will also say I was respectful in how I dealt with Alejandro and treated him how I would want to be treated if the situation was reversed. Kindness and empathy works both ways... read more

My favorite place for cocteles! Arrived on a slow day and were sat immediately. The restaurant is super clean and decor gives me a comforting feel. The waiter was great, very respectful and professional. The service was fast and we were given complementary chips and salsa.  Their coctel comes with the option of Shrimp, Octupus, or Abalony. The shrimp to veggies ratio is good. I'd like to include that these shrimps are not tiny either, they are medium to large. Their cocktail juice they use is what does it for me, its tangy and delicious. Great taste, good serving size, a bit pricey , topped with avocado, includes habanero sauce, lime and Saladitas ( crackers) or tortilla chips on the side. Would I return? Most DEFINITELY!!! read more
