I loved the fish taco special. Everything did need more flavor but wasn't as dry as other 'top taco' places I've tried around here. Still, it seems that CT/NY can't get tacos right.. I have visited the truck once before so we decided to head over to Apache Place and give the actual a building a go. El Charrito is a welcomed addition to the Greenwich takeout scene. They offer authentic Mexican food for a really reasonable price. The food feels a lot like great home-cooking. You can tell the owners put a lot of thought and care into their dishes. The staff is so friendly and really make you welcome when you come in. I usually order burrito of the sea (Ask for spicy if you like hot stuff. Their sauce is the best!), black beans, and chips with guacamole. The black beans are like no other. I have no idea how they make them taste so good, but definitely add them onto your order. When you order the guacamole you get a lot and the chips must be homemade. I once put the leftovers out as an appetizer at a dinner party and everyone raved about it. El Charrito gained a few loyal customers from those chips and guacamole alone! read more

I absolutely love this dive Mexican spot. My co workers love it too, and we frequently drive all the way from Rye Brook, NY to fulfill cravings. The food is super authentic and fresh. Very reasonably priced. They dont handle special requests very well, but the menu is so extensive that there is something for everyone. Wish they had proper seating, but unfortunately it's take-out only. The food smells so good you will want to stuff it in your face while driving away with it. The food is authentic. Had the al pastor Mexican quesadilla. The pineapple in the al pastor adds a ton of flavor. Would have enjoyed it much more if there weren't several pieces of fat on the meat. This place was so amazing. Best tacos I've had inclusive of Austin. I had the carnitas, pork and pineapple and fish. The fish is pan fried not breaded and deep fried like most. Carnitas were perfect with some crunchy spots, fully loaded taco. They put two, not sure if homemade tortillas, but they did something to the shell that added so much flavor. Driving home on I-95 we stumbled into El Charrito thanks to a random stop on exit 5 and a yelp review. We ordered 6 different tacos and 1 sopa, along with some guacamole and chips. Since it was Cinco De Mayo the kitchen was busy, so while we waited we helped ourselves to DELICIOUS popsicles- passion fruit and cream, and coffee. After about 15 minutes we got all of our food and made our way to a beautiful nearby park. There, we had some of the best tacos EVER. Our favorites were the carnitas taco and one with brisket. The carnitas was filled with a rich, moist hunk of roast pork. The brisket had subtle flavors of chocolate and coffee- it too was tender and delicious. To top off the meal we had a few crispy, homemade tortilla chips and some great, fresh guacamole. Overall, it was an amazing find in Greenwich, and if we lived there we'd be regular customers! read more

First time visiting El Charrito, they definitely are friendly. I tried their tacos and I have to say they are very good! Out of the 3 I had, i would have to say Carnitas was by far the best then after Chicharrones, and lastly Res. I feel like portions were alright, carnitas was really stuffed. If you're in a rush to pick up food I suggest you call in advance, this isn't a fast food restaurant so be patient. I'm not saying they took long I'm just saying you'll be waiting at least less then 10 minutes for your food. Definitely will go back to taste their other plates. This is the best Mexican food place that delivers in the Stamford area. I highly recommend their tamales. The waitstaff is always friendly, and the delivery guy is awesome. One suggestion though is that they add the correct hours of operation on their online ordering systems and allow patrons to add toppings on tacos and burritos like lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, olives, etc. on the online systems. I kept hearing how great this place was. I finally went looking forward to authentic yummy Mexican food. Let's start with the service. The girl behind the counter was obnoxious and flippant. The food was... well the only way to describe it was Bad. I ordered a quesadilla and even I could throw together a better one and I'm no cook. It was soggy and 90% slimy cheese and barely even warm. Still a major fan of this place, although today I had three different tacos and didn't love all of them: Steak - these were disappointing to me. The meat is in LARGE chunks and some of it was pretty chewy / dry. Adobado (spicy pork) - these were good, but not great. Again, a bit dry to be honest. Al Pastor (pork with pineapple) - these are AMAZING and for me, kept the 5 star rating. Excellent tacos. I think it's the same meat as the adobado with some pineapple mixed in, and that makes all the difference in the world. So of the four tacos I've had there, I rank the Al Pastor #1, followed by the Cecina (aged, salty beef). I need to have the chicken and a couple of the others, but the steak and the adobado pork are not really worth a special trip to me. read more
