I had never heard of this spot but I'm glad my friend put it as a location on our food tour! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Located closer to the top of Greenwich Avenue, the inside is pretty spacious and has an ample amount of seating[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It gave me a vibe similar to The Taco Project where you order at the counter.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I am always down for some tacos! I did decline a margarita but since I was driving, though the frozen watermelon one my friend ordered looked refreshing. I decided to order carne asada tacos and a Mexican Coke, since this was our third spot for the day and was pretty full already. I would definitely return here!

We came here for lunch today. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice, chill place with seating inside and outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You order at the counter and then they bring your food to your table. I had the chicken enchiladas and my girlfriend had the chef's plate. Honestly it wasn't the best Mexican I've ever had, but it was plenty good, the prices were reasonable, and the servings were large.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Bright, yellow walls with pink flowers decorate this place in Greenwich.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's happy music in Spanish playing (maybe a little loud) and you order at the counter then they bring you your food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I tried the fish tacos and they were very good. Batter wasn't greasy, the fish was flaky and light and the red cabbage was a wonderful complement to the fish and sauce. The flour tortillas were soft and the color was unique. I'd definitely try this place again.

A laid back neighbor taqueria on Greenwich Ave. You order, pay, get your number, and they bring you your food. It's that easy. The Margarita with a Tajin rim was refreshing. We ordered the chips and salsa - the chips were freshly fried and the salsa had a slight smokiness to it. The Chicken Tortilla soup was delicious, creamy, and had a little kick to it, nothing you can't handle. The Chicken Enchiladas in green sauce were delicious as well. There are about 6 tables inside and 6 tables outside. We enjoyed our meal and would definitely come again.

I really liked the food here! Took a quick day trip to Connecticut and found this place walking up Greenwich avenue. The chicken burrito was flavorful. You can taste the grill of the chicken which gives the burrito a really great flavor! The shrimps from the shrimp tacos were similarly grilled to perfection. Chicken quesadilla looked like mini tacos but had good flavor as well! The tortilla are half moon shaped tortilla so they are larger than your typical triangle chip. I got them warm and lightly salted. Great flavor on the chips too!! The food took around 7-10 minutes to make but everything is made fresh! They have indoor seating and a small bar area as well.

    Great place! 2nd visit.

Have been coming here for two years now and this establishment is still on the very top of my places to eat Mexican cuisine. Sometimes going with friends I end up trying new places but they do not compare to LaTaqueria. The fish (cod) tacos here are the best by far from any I have tried. The wild mushroom is outstanding in every way. The corn is so tasty! If you're in a mood for an alcoholic beverage do try the hibiscus margarita, so refreshing. The food here is consistent, always fresh and staff is friendly.

Excellent! The chips are tasty, definitely homemade. Guac is fresh but not as spicy/flavorful. The tacos were so tasty, spicy and flavorful. What's more is that the tacos are generously filled so you don't have to order a tray of 9 tacos to feel satiated like you do at bodega or bar taco. Flavor profile was very good. Chicken enchiladas were good, generous amount. I think the 4 stars is just the order process and then finding a table which can be stressful. Clean bathroom and friendly service. There's just not a ton of room in the joint.

Burrito with short rib - so delicious and I ate it hours after I got it!
    Marissa S.

Wow, had the short rib burrito today and I honestly think it was the best burrito I've ever had. Had a huge portion of short rib, and other goodness. Not half way filled with rice like your typical burrito. Employees were so nice as well. I will definitely be back soon for more delicious short rib!

I came with work friends. It's sort of an upscale chipotle. We had the short rib nachos, pisole soup, hanger steak, grilled chicken, and port tacos. Also chicken burrito. Lots of other interesting stuff on the menu. Everything was fresh and tasty. Better than bar taco but without the view. Prices and service are reasonable. Verdict: Cinco de mayo in your mouth

Ask the Community - La Taqueria

Why does it say closed from 11AM to 9 PM everyday? Are you permanently closed?

I will double check right now, but we are open 11am - 8pm on sun and Monday and open till 9pm the other days, both locations.

    Do you have outdoor sitting?

Yes we do… this week the weather is going to be fabulous. Get it while you still can!

    Is it open yet?

Good evening Heather. La Taqueria has run into a few hiccups. It was anticipated to open about a month ago, but now, it should be a couple more weeks.

Is La Tacqueria open (June 13?)?

Good morning Kate. Unfortunately, not yet. Trying to open ASAP, but might need another few weeks.

Whenever I had meetings at our NYC office, I'd grab a seat at the bar there just to see what was new on the seasonal menu. So, when I heard he was bringing his culinary brilliance to Greenwich Avenue, I was ecstatic. Happy Monkey definitely lives up to the hype, but with a totally different energy. It's a "fun-loving Latin restaurant," and the vibe is spot on--bright, laid-back, and stylish without being stuffy. The black and white tiled floors and all the lanterns and plants hanging from the ceiling give it a really cool, relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to settle in and stay a while. The bar program is solid. They have a full selection, but the margaritas and sangria seemed to be the move for most tables. As for the food, it was incredible. Here's the breakdown: * Arroz con Pollo: This is the absolute "must-have" dish. Just a heads up: it takes about 30 minutes to cook, so give yourself at least an hour for the full experience. It is well worth the wait. * Sizzling Shrimp with Garlic: Exactly what you want it to be--fragrant, buttery, and delicious. * Organic Chipotle Chicken Tacos: Super fresh and had that signature Jean-Georges "pop" of flavor. * Crispy Calamari: Perfectly fried and a great way to kick off the meal. You can really feel the JG influence here--everything feels lighter and more vibrant than your typical heavy Latin fare. It's great to finally have this level of cooking right here in Greenwich. Whether you're a longtime fan of his NYC spots or just looking for a great new dinner hang, this place is a win.

Parking was available outside and when I walked in there were no customers inside. The space was dimly lit but seemed clean. I was eventually greeted by a woman, though there was a bit of a language barrier. I was able to communicate through another staff member, so it worked out. I ordered the large bistec burrito, which came out to about $13 with tax. That is pretty standard pricing right now. One thing I did notice right away was that they no longer had the meat spindle like they used to, which was a little disappointing. The food came out quickly, within about five minutes, and the portion size was solid for the price. Unfortunately, the flavor did not match expectations. It was just okay. The meat was not very well seasoned and had some fatty pieces that took away from the overall experience. The sauces were good, but nothing that stood out. Maybe it was an off day or maybe I should have tried something different like the tacos or cecina. Hard to say, but based on this visit, it did not live up to what I remembered and I am not sure I would recommend it right now.

My main was the deeply satisfying Sweet & Spicy Arrabbiata, which came loaded with plump shrimp, juicy mussels and chewy calamari, over lots of al dente rigatoni with fresh basil.
