My new favorite Mexican food place in Arcata! This location has gone thru multiple iterations of Mexican restaurants and I'm really hoping this one sticks around. In fact as I write this review my mouth is watering thinking of the carne asada street tacos I had there last night! SO good. And their homemade salsas are flavorful and tasty! The service was fast, friendly and good. It's not over priced and they have local beers on tap. I am so stoked this restaurant is in my neighborhood! read more

Absolutely the finest Mexican food I have had in Humboldt co. I'm born and raised in los angeles and feel I have eaten at hundreds of Mexican cafes, from taco trucks to fine dining mex seafood. I was impressed by every meal, and I have been here 5 times already. The grilled fish burrito is excellent and the hurrache are as good as it gets. The place is better than I hoped it would be. I have taken friends and will continue to enjoy the food. The only suggestion I would have, is to give more chips to enjoy the salsa with. read more

My wife is really picky and as of now this location is her favorite Mexican joint. The food is on point. I loved it. It makes me feel like I'm in the city. The outdoor setting looks lovely. The bar area is welcoming. It's everything you'd expect in a Mexican restaurant. Five stars. read more

Wanted a hearty meal after a night of drinking and decided to check this place out for lunch. I'm shocked that this restaurant doesn't have many reviews because my partner and I were quite impressed! I ordered the chili colorado and it was VERY flavorful and the meat was incredibly tender. The beans are also very good (clearly made from scratch). Salsas, guacamole and chips were delicious as well (sometimes it's the little things). The staff are very friendly and I could tell they had quite a few regulars that probably come in often. I will definitely be coming back! Also: definitely affordable for students which is always a plus! read more

This place is similar to Carmellas but they have some different and unique options. Their chicken Torta was the best ive ever had and I was shocked at how flavorful the bread was with the chilis and seasoning they use on it. Arguably the best carnitas in Humboldt now. I tried their corn maize quesadilla and it was really good too. Excited to keep going back and see what else they have to offer. read more

Wonderful Sunny Brae gem. We're fortunate to have such delicious fare in our neighborhood. Guac was *FRESH* and fantastic. Mazatlan burrito hearty and full of flavor. People on Nextdoor have been talking about El Chipotle in Sunny Brae (Arcata) and their comments encouraged me to eat dinner there. My son and I were not disappointed. Going out to dinner the day after New Years we expected to see very few people at the restaurant. When we pulled up, the parking lot was full. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and the service was exceptional throughout the meal. The food was great and the prices are very reasonable. We ordered "a to go meal" for my wife. During the dinner another server came out and said the meal will be ready when we are ready to leave. I recommend you stop by and give this new business a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

Best Mexican food in Humboldt! Friendly staff --always willing to give suggestions on best menu items. Our favorite here is the Pambasos--it's the chicken tinga that makes it so good. Chicken tinga is so spectacular--in fact, we will get it on tacos & burritos as well. All tortillas are homemade--corn & flour! We've been through this menu (almost) top to bottom and have yet to not be completely delighted. We do have a few more items to try--which we will, very soon. Started out with the chips, wasn't impressed at first cuz the salt was missing but, they had good flavor. In the end they made a great nacho with the rest of the stuff. Delicious meal, everyone was happy. I had the chicken bowl and was quite surprised in my choice, the burritos only had the choice of Asada on the menu, sadly i did not ask if i could change it. I could have done without the Pico, it was a bit pungent on the citrus which was overpowering to the entire plate so i just ate it off first. The salsa was more like hot sauce so beware and try at your own will. read more

I really wanted to like this place after reading the reviews but I wasn't impressed. The chips were stale but I did like the hotter salsa. My husband ordered the super burrito which was barely warm and was mostly filled with bean and rice. I ordered the shrimp cocktail which was basically shrimp floating in ketchup because that was the base, so it was WAY TO SWEET! I would've rather had just the shrimp and pico, so I could add my own ketchup, tapatio, and lime. Just really disappointing. This place used to be great. I don't know what changed but now the food is bland at best. Rice is unflavored and dry. Beans are unflavored. It's like the chef forgot how to season anything. The Al pastor looks and tastes like ground beef. I hope the fix whatever they changed. read more

This is place is awesome. The food tastes fresh and the service is great. I am vegan and they were eager to accommodate to me. My first time there I got a bean and rice burrito and I added veggies to it with green salsa. My second time there, I ordered a spinach enchilada with beans and rice. I was pleasantly surprised. Most Mexican food is not authentic and seems like it all taste the same but this place was better. Closer to what would be served in Mexico. Tacos were delicious and the meatball soup was perfect. Glad to have you in the neighborhood El Chipotle. read more
