I've had a lot of different types of empanadas in my day and these are my absolute favorite! They are just so flavorful and the texture is so heavenly, it's a party in your mouth. The only problem is that as soon as I finish one, I immediately want another. They just go down so easily, I think it's because the batter is light and flaky compared to others. Ok, enough talk about the empanadas, I realize I'm starting to sound crazy... but I just love them so much! We also had a papa rellena, stuffed potato with a rice and ground beef filling. This also had a nice flaky crust and lots of flavor. As our main meal we had an egg stuffed arepa and a mini bandeja paisa. The egg stuffed arepa was good but the bandeja paisa was even better. It's a bowl with rice, saucy red beans, a small arepa, sausage, chicharrón, beef, a sweet plantain slice and why not? A beautiful fried egg on top! phew! I know it's a mouthful.
