Good overall for espresso or cafe con leche but I was not impressed with the quality of their food. The service was nice and they even took the time to say goodbye to us when we left. I ordered a colada with half of the amount of regular sugar they usually put in and it was perfect. If I'm ever in the area, I will stop by for another one. The Colombian beef empanada that I got was stale. The outside exterior was rubbery and dry. The ground beef inside was tasty, but it was cold. They didn't even warm it up. I really felt like it was two or three days old sitting in the case. Next time I want to try their Napoleon, I saw a couple next to us both having one and they looked content with their food. read more

The first thing I noticed was how clean the bakery was. It was busy when we arrived, but the crowd soon quieted down. The cakes, pies, and empanadas all looked delicious. I ordered the churros with chocolate dip. However, it turned out to be only one churro, covered in a lot of sugar and missing the golden-brown color I was expecting. It was very sweet. The café con leche did not disappoint--it was excellent with a great flavor. Not too strong or weak, and not too sweet or bitter. The employees were pleasant and wished us a good day as we were leaving. I might visit again if I'm in the area to enjoy their amazing coffee and try a different treat. read more

Was having lunch next door and decided to check out CAO bakery. As we entered we were greeted right away. Explained that we were checking out the bakery. Unfortunately, we were too full to try anything. They had an array of cakes, cookies and pastries. All looked amazing. They also serve sandwiches and coffee. Came with family for a weekend morning breakfast, got cafe con leche, guava pastelitos and some other food. Restaurant was clean and we were helped quickly. Tons of choices of food and especially desserts of all kinds. I will say the guava pastelitos had a glaze that sticks to your teeth hard but it was still tasty. I wish the cafe con leche medium was a lot bigger because it looked like a pretty small size. Pretty good prices and fast service. Plenty of parking and table spaces to sit and eat. read more

CAO Bakery is one of my favorite chains. I have always liked them. This one is located at a corner of a plaza. It is easy to spot from the street. The bakery has plenty of parking spaces all around. It is in a great location. I found this location to be a little smaller inside than the other COA Bakeries I had visited before. It might be a smaller bakery but they still serve good desserts. I got the breakfast sandwich, ham croquets, and pastelitos. I liked everything. The food tasted great. I was happy with everything. I got a free coffee when I checked in with Yelp and so that made my day. I especially liked the cheese pastelitos. The place is very casual and lively. They had good Spanish music playing. TLDR: Come with cash and check your order before you leave. The chicken croquetas are the best in the area. However the service is abysmal! They handed me my order in a tied bag. I got all the way home to realize they didn't give me the tostadas I paid for. I checked the receipt to call them and ask that they make it for me as I return so I don't have to wait- and to my surprise they charge a credit card fee! No where do they indicate such! Very poor practice to not display a fee. On a separate visit, I waited eternally for a coffee that the lady forgot to take down when I ordered. Very terrible service. They're overdue for an update. I've come several times since my last review and it appears they finally worked out their kinks. I didn't finish it, went to the bakery, and wound up ordering croquetas, empanadas, and a café con leche to boot. That café con leche is on point. I'm here happily sipping away, thinking this is quite a coffee. I make a decent cup myself, but this jolt seems to be just what I needed, so yes, definitely an update is in order. My family and I recently did a take out order for a Sunday breakfast at home and everything was so good! We got ham croquettes and of course a wide variety of pastelitos and Cuban bread. The service was attentive and the food delicious. My only complaint is that they stuffed everything in one box and some of the croquettes were smashed by the time we got home. It would have been better to pack the croquettes in one box and the pastelitos in a second box. Just have to keep this in mind when we go back. read more

Very sad to have to post such a bad review but I feel this bakery and many CAO bakeries are really giving Cuban bakeries a bad feeling. The food was burnt. The place had water stains on several ceiling tiles and a bucket catching water on another end and though usually this would not be the reason for a bad review since it is in a shopping center. The food was not what should be called a "Cuban bakery." The toast was burnt and stale as if they recycle the old Cuban bread. The mamey shake tasted like condensed milk. No mamey taste. I decided not to purchase any pastries as they were drenched in marmalade, which I'm sure was to cover the burnt taste. The original Vicky bakery owners who had a ton of customers and a genuine love for their food have really lost the flavor through these franchises. read more

I'm so glad there's a new location for CAO and it's a small drive from me! The food is great and it is always quickly served when I place an order. The staff is friendly and they are helpful if you have any questions about the food and drinks they have. I decided to get a steak sandwich and I was shocked at the amount of food you get on the bread for the price! It came out quick and I could tell it was got even through the to go bag and the wrapping it was in. My only concern is them making sure the orders are made correctly. My fiance ordered a croquette sandwich which is a Cuban sandwich and they replace one of the meats with croquettes, and when I got home they had literally only put two croquettes on bread. We had to drive back, they apologized for the inconvenience but that was it. Next time hopefully they confirm exactly what people are ordering because it was a pretty bad mess up. New CAO bakery and just as yum as the others in Broward. My hubby went with some out of town guests (on a Saturday afternoon) and picked a whole bunch of goodies. New spot, so it was bright, clean and service was polite. They have their own parking lot with sufficient parking. All the pastries and desserts were so good. So much so they went back the next day (Sunday morning) to get even more goodies. Today we went for breakfast at this location. The food is always great. The inside is also very clean. I placed an order through Yelp and they couldn't find the order. It took longer than expected and I had to wait for my order. However, I do give them 4 stars for the food. It is a great please to go, but maybe do not order through Yelp if you are in a hurry and need to go in and out with your order. I live next to this place ! I remember when the owner was there fixing it up he was super nice ! However I saw a Hire sign I called the bakery and the lady who answered didn't speak English...So I decided to just walk over there today..I asked if they were hiring mind you she barely spoke English...She asks me if I speak Spanish I said No..She tells me that I need to speak Spanish can't get the job. Nice local cafe in my neighborhood. They were out of the avocado selections but the traditional breakfast platter was worth it. Typical toasted Cuban bread with butter paired with a Cuban coffee is always my favorite. Inside has a good amount of seating and staff was friendly. They speak Spanish only. Excited to try this (CAO) Cuban American Original, bakery located in South Broward because ALL the other Cuban bakery's in the area are marginal & inconsistent, when compared to all the other Dade county counterparts. Location was nice & clean, shiny. Desserts look awesome, but small portions. Ordered a Quattro Leche, & it's was very good. It was lunch time so ordered a classic pan con bistec, this is were the bar got lowered. Bread should had been super fresh & soft, but seem more like day old Cuban bread, (see photo bread is cracking & stale) The bisteak was super thin over cooked & rubbery. You can see from the photo that the lettuce was browning. French fries were pedestrian. No diet Jupinia or diet Inka cola available. Service was uninspired, and hurt the whole ambiance was the lack of any type of music (Latin) on their audio system, just silence in the empty location. I would go again to try the tiny croquettes or other dessert options, but sandwiches would need improvements. read more

They were good when they first opened but now lacking in so many ways. Sometimes the Cuban toast is burnt and other times it smells like it's been around fish, which makes sense because they do sell a cod fish croquette.
