We continue to search for restaurants that have nice outdoor patios :). This would be one of them. We were seated and served by Sergio- I think he's the bartender too. I had the queso fundido chicken- try the chicken and peppers alone (vs in the tortilla) as it has much better flavor. Make sure to mention you want the sour cream and guacamole. They make a VERY nice guacamole that has crunchy green peppers and just the right amount of lime juice and salt. Nice. Hubby had the pork Chile verde. He said it was well done, nice sauce and plenty of peppers. He wished it was more spicy- had a tiny bit of kick but not much. Skinny margs were good :). Enjoy the outdoors!! read more

Absolutely amazing experience at this place. We called around an hour early to try to get some food ready for our large group of ten, and by the time we arrived they had our food hot and ready. We basically started eating as our party was coming in, and the servers were active and attentive! The food was great--we ordered costillas adobadas, carnitas platters, taco platters, and a chicken quesadilla and they were all delicious! It was a lot of food per entree as well, with our group of 10 feeling full from 7 orders (each from $15-$18). Super reasonable prices for the amount you get. There was plenty of seating and the ambiance was quiet but inviting. I don't normally leave longer reviews like this but the accommodations made for my large group really made our day. After a long day at the Grand Canyon, being able to eat such good food without any wait was very meaningful--it was also many of our group's first time having Mexican food! All in all, 5/5 would go again just because of the large amount of seating, amazing food (especially the costillas adobadas), good ambiance, and thoughtful service. read more

The food was lacking flavor. Based off the reviews, we came here but that's exactly why I'm doing this review. Awful food, salsa, ambience and lack of decent service. Salsa was watery, no taste, chips were good. Chicken Enchiladas lacked a favorable taste, carnitas plate had zero taste, and the price for small portion was high. Beans and rice were just ok. Hidden away on the hilltop, this Authentic Mexican restaurant and bar/cantina is worth making the short trek from downtown Williams, AZ The Chile Relleno was perfectly made, Al Pastor Enchilada pork filling was moist and flavorful, chorizo and pork tacos enjoyable, rice, refried beans, cheese and rice exactly what you should expect. The only complaint I have was the very bland salsa. While I understand that many older customers may not tolerate very spicy food, a nice blend of tomato paste, lime juice, diced sweet onion, cilantro and maybe a bit of fresh jalapeno just enough to know it is there would make a nice pico de gallo to compliment their food and animate the existing flavors. I especially liked the fact they are proud enough of the authenticity of their food they put the Mexican flag on each dish. Regardless of where a particular cuisine originates, this most successful Chefs live Intrepidly not to worry about chasing every customer, but to be true to themselves and their cuisine, never to take shortcuts in preparation, cheaper ingredients that do not offer the most authentic flavors, but to go boldly in preparing dishes so authentic, so flavorful and so truly memorable, that customers will crave the love you put into each dish, and memories that will compel them to return every chance they get. Had dinner here while staying in Williams our last nite. Some of the best cheese enchiladas I've ever had I ordered with red and green sauce (Christmas) and both were excellent and nice n spicy! Chips were fresh and hot and the hot sauce was excellent! Service was excellent and fast. They also had a very well stocked bar. The only problem I have, it's too far away from Ponder, TX!! This was not what I expected for a roadside/hotel restaurant! It was much better!! We came after a day up at the Canyon since it was next to our hotel. When we came in with our two kids around 6pm it was practically dead but a number of other guests came in over the course of our dinner. My husband and I both had the fajitas, which were decently cooked. I thought both his beef and my chicken were more chewy than tender. The rice was a little too fluffy for Mexican rice, but the beans were ok. The food was a little better than what you'd expect at a place like this but not the best, which is the reason I gave four stars. The drinks were made strong which was a plus. The service was also good. The best was the decor. The restaurant was so beautifully decorated for Christmas it was almost magical. It was also amazing that they had a gift shop which sold kids waterproof mittens, something we had been looking for during our entire stay. read more

A easy 3 minute walk from our hotel we decided to try El Comedor Cardenas. While Yelp did not reflect it as being a dog friendly establishment they did welcome our dog on their patio. My granddaughter enjoyed the Rancho Steak with grilled onion and jalapeno. My grandson enjoyed the taco platter, three tacos of your choosing. I was hoping for fish tacos however I'm not a fan of tilapia so I opted for the 3 meat fajita (chicken, steak and shrimp) with plenty of grilled veggies, beans, rice and your choice of tortillas. For myself the fajita was a bit under seasoned or perhaps it was more of an issue of not being evenly seasoned. I also tried the mango margarita I appreciated the heavy pour however it needed more zing, a bit more mango and lime. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive, for the great service. Nice little Mexican restaurant in flagstaff with welcoming staff and ambiance. The service is quick and the menu has options for any of your Mexican food desires. I had the Chili Verde dinner plate and it was really good and flavorful. The rice was tasty and the beans we really good as well. We dined here twice this past weekend because it's situated nearly walking distance from our hotel (Best Western). The first time, we went for appetizers and drinks only: Carne Asada Fries, Ceviche, Bud Light and Coke Zero. $32+tip. A SOLID 5 Stars. There's really no description for the CAF, so here it is: perfectly prepared fries topped with tender strips/chunks of beef, shredded lettuce, tomato, pico de gallo, melted cheese, black olives with generous sides of sour cream and excellent guacamole. Fantastic! I suppose you could share this, but just don't. Your basic food groups are right in front of you:) The Ceviche resembles a Baja-style Shrimp Cocktail: served in a large Margarita/Martini glass chocked with plump shrimp in a Bloody Mary type red cocktail sauce. Also recommend not sharing;). Likewise Excellent! The following night, we opted for dinner entrees: Beef Enchiladas and Chile Rellenos and the same drinks. These were okay. They were prepared well, but lacked "something", which is the reason for the cumulative 4 Stars. $30+tip. The Service from Juanita and Sergio was excellent for both visits, however, the food seemed to take a little longer than usual. Both times we were seated on their spacious outdoor patio and just enjoyed the vibe while we waited. We received complimentary chips and salsa on the first visit. I had vegetarian Huaraches dinner plate and water. The chips and salsa they brought out were good and had plenty of flavor. I asked for the hot sala in addition to the regular sala. They brought out a nice red salsa, it wasn't stupid hot but it was slightly hotter than the stock salsa that they brought out with the chips. It had good flavor and I soaked my dinner in it. I'm not sure how there are so many good reviews about this restaurant because we ate there last night and the food was COMPLETELY BLAND. I ordered the chicken quesadilla and my husband ordered the grande burrito with chicken and both were completely void of any flavor! It was like they opened a can of chicken, put it in a food processor to grind it up and made our food. No seasoning or spices - we both couldn't even finish our meals. The salsa was really weak, too. Omg finally found my favorite Mexican food in all of Northern Arizona! We've been visiting Williams for many (20 +) years and I've been mostly underwhelmed when it comes to Mexican food. This place hits the mark. I had a chile relleno and enchilada plate, hubs had the 3 enchilada plate. He preferred the cheese and chicken over the shredded beef enchiladas. I love authentic rellenos that are a real chile and real cheese and not a whole lot of batter (or I'd order an omelet)! Thus was perfect! Fresh chile, real cheese, light batter, light pinkish sauce tasted like homemade too! Rice and beans were on point and I even liked the salsa which is more sauce than salsa but had a nice kick (and I usually ask for habanero salsa). Someone mentioned the salsa wasn't very hot so maybe they spiced it up since then because it was good, albeit different. Highly recommend. Looking forward to our next trip already! read more

We dined at El Comedor Cardenas during our stay in Williams. I was really craving Mexican food so I was excited to find this place with decent review on Yelp. When we arrived, we were told to sit anywhere we wanted as I think we were ahead of the dinner crowd and there were only a few patrons there. I ordered the chicken Mole, my husband got the cheese enchiladas and my children split the cheese quesadilla. The chicken Mole was not my favorite. The chicken came out as a half chicken with mole sauce poured on top. The meat was fatty and I had a hard time cutting it off the bone. The beans and rice were good though. My husband really liked his cheese enchiladas and the kids ate a pretty good amount of the cheese quesadilla so I think it was just my dish that wasn't good. I also ordered a margarita and I didn't particularly enjoy it either - however there are a lot of other margaritas on their menu that did sound good. We are newly locals in Williams and ate here tonight for the first time, food and cantina were great, service is great. I'm a local, so I usually try to avoid the super touristy restaurants in the heart of Williams. This place is sort of tucked away in the back corner of town, so it's less crowded than most of the other restaurants. Meals and drinks are priced fairly, and the food is great! I get the queso fundido with chicken, and it's definitely worth it. The drinks are also great! They don't seem to do much measuring the alcohol, so they lean towards a heavy pour. (; Staff is very friendly and attentive. Cute little place, family friendly but has a full service bar. If you're in the area, it's worth checking out. read more
