I was staying overnight on a vacation roadtrip and came in on May 30th at 615 am after finding this place on Yelp. The waitress Maria L. sat me at a table. I asked for coffee and she handed me a menu and she asked if I knew what I wanted to eat. I said I needed some time to look at the menu and she frowned and walked away without saying a word. It was obvious she thought I was going to be there a while and didn't want me sitting at the table long. She returned with the coffee and said "You know if it gets busy...." leaving the sentence hanging. I replied I would leave if it did (the restaurant only had maybe 3 tables full at that point, by the time I left at 640 there were two tables empty). After eating the food, which was quite good, I promptly packed up and left as soon as I could 25 minutes after being seated. I walked down to Brewed Awakenings, got a coffee there and sat down at my computer to do some work. In a small restaurant I totally understand that you need to keep tables moving so there is not a wait, but there is a polite and subtle way to message to a patron that they need to move along so other folks can sit down. You can deliver the check early, ask if you are finished, ask if there is anything else you need. Ways to communicate to a patron that they need the table. This was certainly not it. I eat out often, I tip very well, but I have to say this is the first time I felt unwelcome and rushed at a place in a very, very long time. While the food was good, this was not the way to start off day 2 of my roadtrip. In today's economy, making your customers feel like they need to eat and run, and doing so in a rude way, is a master class in how to make your restaurant fail. This is also the place called Anna's, so that was a little confusing... I ordered the cheese enchiladas with eggs, beans, and hashbrowns, and enjoyed it. The salsa that came with it was good too. It's definitely enough for two meals if you're not super hungry! Hubs had the American breakfast with eggs, hashbrowns, bacon and English muffin. He requested the English muffin to be brown because they kinda suck when they are undercooked. It came out. a bit black to my mind, but he ate it anyway. Came here for breakfast and it was great! We came at 7;45am before the 8am rush. So if you don't want to wait come early! It was Tuesday morning . We got seated right away and had a booth seating which was fun. The resturant is very clean and has some charming features. Menu is great and something for everyone! I got one of the "specialty dish" on the menu and got the veggie omelette which came with toast or tortillas and hashbrowns. It was SO YUMMY! great size portion too! It's an adventure just finding this place, especially if you come in the back way off Route 66 down the Alley. There is a front door off West Railroad Avenue. The restaurant has a duel personality since it is also known and signed as Anna's Cafe. Staff greeted us immediately, seated us in a nice booth in the front window. They have Pepsi beverages on tap. Service was attentive until it was time for the check, they even cleared the table but still no check, finally it came but our server disappeared again for 10 minutes before she took our payment. They did offer road sodas to go, but we were ready to go. The place tells a story from long ago, just a nice cafe that lets you take a break. The food was ok to good. My wife had the Ruben sandwich without sauerkraut and with sourdough bread and coleslaw. Very good sandwich and coleslaw. I had the Mountain Man Roast beef sandwich with cheddar cheese, grilled onions, mayo on sourdough bread and tater tots with a side of blue cheese. We met Anna ( owner) at the front of the house and asked about any gluten free options. She mentioned they had gluten free bread they could swap out for regular bread for my breakfast request. VERY UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE!!!! The food was okay, but the manager Stephanie was super rude! I have never been to a restaurant we're customers were treated and talked to this way. They had my family and I wait more than 30 minutes so that they could sit us together and when we were called they said that wasn't possible anymore. They had us sit at two separate tables and charged us 20% gratitude, we asked to speak to a manager and thats when everything went wrong, she was speaking in a very aggressive manner and was trying to argue with us, then she left us talking. My family and I were super excited to eat here. We heard the food is great and it was a short walk from the local hotel we stayed at. We enjoyed watching the zip line while we waited roughly 15 minutes for our table. It must have been an off day for the staff cuz the service was not as attentive as other yelpers reviewed. We waited over 30 minutes for our food, whereas others seated after us had already received their meals. Our party had no silver wear and we had to ask for napkins and refills on coffee. My kids said the grilled cheese and pancakes were worth eating again....and one of the waitresses was super kind and gave us quarters so they could use the gum ball machine. It's amazingly good. Packed with flavor and mild on the heat, which means folks who are bothered by spice can still enjoy it. I took a cup home to my mother in San Diego (as this was breakfast on the last day of a road trip). The chicken fried steak (one of my go to "test" breakfasts for places like this) was flavorful, surprisingly tender, and topped with thicc sausage gravy. They nailed my over medium fried eggs, which is always impressive. The only drawback was no flavor in the hash browns, but that's nothing some salt, pepper, and/or ketchup couldn't fix. My husband ordered the biscuit and sausage gravy which included a side of crispy hash browns and he left his plate clean. All menu items are reasonably priced which is a nice surprise when traveling.
