Perfect portions are moderately priced, which is hard to find. 100% authentic Mexican flavors. Each bowl is served with chopped radish, cabbage, jalapeño and white onion. I've had the opportunity to come to Mexpozole a handful of times now thanks for my family. It's become one of their favorite nearby authentic Mexican spots in the Katy area. Located in a really small brand new shopping center, the location can be easily missed so keep your eyes open on Fry Rd. Because of COVID-19, social distancing is being enforced. Do bring your masks. All tables are spaced out by 2-3 empty tables. When you walk in your server will seat you. Like I said, it's a small space.. business has been pretty slow the times that I have been so I've only seen one-two waitresses working. Be patient as they are the only two working the entire restaurant. We tried the loaded nachos for an appetizer and they were pretty good. Ordered all on the side once except for the meat and cheese and ordered all on the side completely another time we visited. I recommend having them keep the meat and cheese on the nachos vs on the side because you do get less of both asking for them on the side. I tried the Tripas tacos, I asked for them to be extra crispy and they came out just like that. Crunchy and full of flavor. They're not the biggest tacos so 3-4 is a good amount if you wanna fill up. On a second visit I had the Tampiqueña plate, it's basically carne asada, enchiladas, fried beans and rice. It was pretty good. I chose to not have the enchiladas and asked for extra rice. They do serve beer, sodas, and aguas frescas! I had the horchata and I actually liked it. Some places make it way too sweet for my taste but the one here is just fine. Two tables were completely served even though we were seated before them. We were seated at 12:15pm and at 1:15pm our table still didn't have all its food. Do not come on the weekend or with a large party. The staff didn't even check on us once while we were waiting for our food. THE FOOD IS GREAT, THEIR BEVERAGES ARE RIDICULOUSLY PRICEY. This is one of those few restaurants with authentic Mexican food you can find in Houston (not Texmex, but central Mexico). The service is great and considering the amount of people they serve, they are quick. The only critic I have is that their drinks are really pricey, they fall in the category of what I call "drink scalpers". In fact, their menu does NOT disclose the price you will pay in case you order a tamarindo or horchata drink, or a soda, which in itself should not be even legal. But once you ordered, you will be surprised. You could buy a grande capuchino with an extra cherry at a Starbucks with that money. Folks: your food and service is great. If you think you need more income, raise up one dollar per order, or something like that, but scalping on the price of drinks looks bad and it is a negative for you. Try to solve that. There were quite a few negative points, starting with that there were no chips and salsa. The tacos potosinos were all right.. but the meat that came with it was undercooked. Likely because if it was cooked anymore it would be tough. Also the black beans in the entomatada dish tasted weird. The aguas frescas were not fresh. We went to pick up some green and red posole for breakfast this morning and man oh man was this a HUGE disappointment. The green posole had good flavor but was bland and well I've always known green posole as being a bit spicy. This has no spice. The red posole was had a little more spice but the flavor was not of posole. Not sure what region of Mexico this is from but not what I grew up on. We also got queso birria tacos and nope, nope the consommé tasted a bit like A1 sauce. They serve the posole with lettuce??? Um I've always had it with cabbage, radish, onion and jalapeño.
