When visiting from out of state I usually have a meal from El Corral as my family orders to go here once a week at least. I maybe have not found the right thing to order here, but everything I've had except the cheese sauce hasn't been very good. I was really disappointed last week when one of the items in our order was a shredded beef crunchy taco, loaded. I received a semi soft taco stuffed with ground beef and cheese. Bland and greasy. This was open on a sunday evening when we weren't sure what we wanted. The tableside guacamole was actually really good and well worth the price for the size you get. We ordered a grande burrito which came with steak and chicken. It was filling for us to share with the chips and Guacamole. We ordered an enchilada a la carte but it came with red sauce that I didn't care for. That was a preference dislike though. The chips and salsa were good. We've been going here for years. I typically get their chicken Fajitas. The wife and kids usually get Polo Colores. Their Salsa is excellent, cheese dip awesome and they will make Fresh Guacamole for you on specific days of week and it's enough for a meal. Their lunch specials are very cost efficient. Speedy service usually. We've always had good service. The owners are fantastic as well. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating is because 5 stars is meant for the mind blown experience. read more

To preface this rating, for Decatur standard, this place is definitely 5 stars. Everywhere else 4. So really, this rating is 4.5 Great service, very attentive. Great attention to details. Food took a while to roll out, but maybe because by the time we ordered the restaurant got busy. 11.99 for shrimps and scallop, hard to come by. Though the shrimps and scallops were not super big. Me & my family eat here quite often. Seems to be a very popular place because it is always hopping. Ample seating & attentive service keeps things moving well. I am a fajita freak and theirs are very good. But my favorite food is the GUACAMOLE!!! It is always fresh and perfectly prepared. It is heavenly. I could dine on chips & guacamole alone! Theirs is the best I have come across in Central Illinois. They have a varied menu with something for everyone, even the gringos who would rather eat a burger lol. The wife's chicken in her quasadia was dry and tasteless just like her rice. My steak burrito was shorted steak and you can tell it wasn't a quality meat. I come here a lot for lunch with coworkers. While the food is not spectacular I also can't find anything to complain about. The ingredients are always fresh. Chicken soup seems to be a good alternative for something healthy. You can also ask for some extra avocado and cilantro for more flavor. The service is quick and professional. Eat here quite often. The food is very good and there always seems to be a very good atmosphere every time I've been there. It's typical Mexican fare for the area but they do it quite well and they have your order ready very quickly. There is quite a good selection to choose from and I've tried probably close to half of what they offer on their menu. I've been for both lunch and dinner and have never been disappointed. Their lunch menu is definitely a value and the pick 3 will leave you stuffed to the gills, you may not even be able to finish it all, there's THAT much food. They have the typical chips and salsa but when I've been for dinner, I've also had the FRESH guacamole dip and it's fantastic. There's a guy with a little cart that comes to your table and makes it right in front of you with fresh avocados and all the fixings- very good stuff - we always give him a tip because it's that good. They have several foreign & domestic beers to choose from so if you're wanting a cold one, have no fear, you can get it here & it will be cold. They can accompany all sizes of groups. Depending on the time of day you go, you may have to wait a few minutes because they do draw a crowd because their food is that good. There's plenty of parking available so you don't have to worry about finding a spot. Overall, my top choice in this area for quality, cost & atmosphere. Not too big of a place and not too small. I used to eat here a lot. I'm done. I came here to eat with my family and got the chicken chimichanga dinner. It's normally delicious. Tonight there was a 2" chicken bone in it. I told the waitress because I was completely grossed out. Didn't even get an apology. She just took my plate filled with a lot of food away. Plus, we had a reservation for a large party and when we arrived we waited 45 minutes to be seated. So much for reservations! By far the BEST Mexican restuarant in Decatur!! The food is fresh and tasty. The waiters/waitresses are very efficient and friendly. The Margaritas are super yummy and super cheap on Monday, Wed. and Friday...and the giant draft beers are super cheap on Thursdays!!
