Though I have not had the same gross experience as previously stated, I do have to say you do have to be paying attention when answering the questions they fire at you. Because they have a limited menu, the staff can get into a fast rhythm when making your burrito and their hands will be moving faster than their inquisitions. The chicken and pulled pork are succulent, and the salsa is very yummy. Take care about asking for extra of anything, as it will throw off the flavour balance that is inherent in the standard serving sizes of all the goodness. My first and last time eating here. Steak was gray and not fresh, serving size for steak burrito was small. For .75 cents you get meager spread of guac, not sure why gorgonzola cheese is an option but it did not work with my burrito. $8.50 for a burrito that is low in quality and did not fill up my hungry college-boy tummy. I'm not sure why so many people like this place. It may be that my family and I ate the wrong items. We had steak burritos and steak tacos. We all felt the flavor was boring, the steak was rubbery. After living in the PNW for most of my life (and thus used to pretty decent Mexican food) I have been yearning for good Mexican food (mostly tacos.) In Chicago, the guy I was living with warned me against ordering anything Mexican--"Remember, you're in the midwest now," he said. Duly noted. And then, while living in London, I told a drunk guy I would peruse the menu for him and tell him what he could order. Standing on the sidewalk at 2 in the morning, scanning the said menu of a Mexican place in Battersea, I was forced to say to him, "No Dice. Just get chips and salsa." So it's been a while since I've had good Mexican food. I've been eating at Taco del Sol during my summer tenure in Missoula, and while I like the fish taco, their salsa is horrible. SO BAD. It almost ruins the whole meal. So El Diablo is a welcome relief. Reasonable. High quality meat (I had the carne asada and the chicken.) The fish taco was not memorable, but not bad either. As someone else pointed out, this is no Mexican taco truck (ah, Seattle-- your Mexican taco trucks!), but it is very good for Montana. I will go back again for sure. read more

mmmm el diablo. my husband is the burrito guy, i tagged along for support........hehe. they have interesting options---lettuce or cabbage, cheese- you can get gorgonzola :).... jalapeños, and different level hotness of salsa... also the cilantro lime sauce!!! you can easily mix it up fairly easily with the different choices. very good! full at the 1/2 way point...STUFFED at 3/4 way through the burrito. also got chips and guac... left something to be desired- but thats just me....... :D read more

I should preface this review by saying that I previously lived in Montana for a few years and I don't know that I've ever had good food at any restaurant there, so take my review with a grain of salt. If you're looking for a baby football burrito, this is the spot! The mahi fish burrito is awesome, I eat one almost every week. The staff is always super friendly and service is fast. Go for the cabbage, it has more crunch than iceburg. They have outside seating too. Prices are reasonable as well. read more

Disappointing. $16 for two burritos and a sofa and a water. My husband got a flavorless carne asada burrito. I got a pulled pork burrito which was tasty but there was pork only on the ends of the burrito. "Where's the meat?" The burrito maker was barely audible and seemed inconvenienced when my husband had to ask her three times what it was that she said when she was giving cheese options. By the way, one of the cheeses offered was Gorgonzola in addition to cheddar and Jack. This is a Mexican restaurant. Is that weird or just me? Yet I couldn't get fresh cilantro. I didn't really like that you can't see what they were doing when they were building my burrito behind the very high countertop. Especially with grouchy girl making my burrito. You can't order chips and salsa because they don't have chips. It seems like a mediocre attempt at replicating Zabas or Chipotle. Naah, completely unimpressive! We've been to this place three or more times now and in my opinion, the reviews here are far too glowing. Having spent 30-years living near Tucson, I have firm opinions on what constitutes a decent (quality, authentic) taco or burrito, and what El Diablo is offering-up, simply isn't it - not even close! And despite what others here have said, they're NOT "cheap" ($8.00 for a single burrito??). I don't THINK so! The fact is, every burrito I've ever had there was full of nothing but cheap rice and beans and whatever else they could coerce you into selecting in the way of contents other than meat. And in the case of the carne asada burrito, the little bit of meat that they actually include is so bland and flavorless, its laughable. So If you're a guy, and you like meat in your tacos or burritos rather than than cheap, cost-effective fillers like rice and beans, then I'm afraid you'll need to look elsewhere. read more

I needed my Mexican food fix while in Missoula for a fishing trip and I wasn't disappointed with this place. Their burritos are huge and I left there satisfied. The salsa isn't bad, but I prefer mine not as chunky. The help was friendly and the place was clean. They could use margaritas or beer on the menu, but that's an issue of a liquor license. read more
