I've been going to this place since about 2007/2008 and started at a time when Indy was going through an amazing period of Mexican restaurants. I would have been pressed to believe that in 2023 Fandangos would be the one left standing of my old favorites that have now all sadly closed down. El Sol De Tala on West Washington was the abuelo of everything in this city - excellent food and margaritas (hard to find a place with both, usually one or the other) that seemed to be also the face of which everything else was to be judged. Guatelinda near 30th and Lafayette and Oaxaca at 30th and Martin Luther King also brought some fine food to this city. These places are all gone and only Fandango is left of that group amazingly in a very humble strip mall and humble taqueria setting. It's a place to go for very good food - don't expect a white tablecloth restaurant but you will find tlayuda (try the chicken version), mole that is out of this world and homemade tortillas to die for. Nice salsas and wait staff. It can get really busy on weekends like on Sunday so don't go during that time without expecting a wait. There is beer but no margaritas. You can always stop for margaritas somewhere else afterwards if you have ganas for that. The tlayuda and mole enchiladas photos won't seem to upload here in the review unfortunately. The Fandango menu is mostly derived from Oaxacan recipes, but in more recent times they've included food from Honduras as well for other options. The caldos on the menu are known to be a great hangover cure if you like seafood.

Cheese empanadas, the best part of our meal. Quite good.

Always order the cheese empanadas . This is the only place that makes them right . The service is great and the staff is always friendly.

I got the Langostino Quesadilla that I loved! It was a really big quesadilla too. We ordered agua frescas tonight, but their bar menu is huge and I definitely want to be back for margaritas on their patio. This is prime location for patio season. All our service was very professional and fast. Bonus perk there is a free parking garage attached.... Makes going out to eat downtown way less stressful!

Overall a chill environment and ith a nice front patio/ sidewalk seating area. We enjoyed the chips n salsa varieties, surprisingly the darker salsa wasn't spicier just a different flavor. Orde re d the chicken burrito which was gigantic easily enough for 2 to share. Very well made fresh ingredients, covered in sauces and cheesy. And we all tried different margaritas, mine was a strawberry fruity take on a margarita, good and garnished nicely. Rated fresh and flavorful, not very strong and a bit pricey. Especially with some being $100+ for a drink was wild. Overall nice place, nice environment, wasn't busy and tasted good but is priced higher than most Mexican restaurants in the city.

Driving through…read morehere, you see the blight and the abandonment of this area of Indianapolis since the decline of manufacturing. Then again, it's not an uncommon story unfortunately- large parts of the city forgotten in terms of economic development but then suddenly needed during times of campaigning. Had taken Keystone and then Rural Street to get here, and the potholes are not kind. But, we had this place on our list and were determined to make it here at least once. Tlaolli stood out for its vegan offerings. Plenty of vegan taco options, birria (an absolute rarity to see vegan birria), and torta. They offer soy chorizo, jackfruit, and king oyster mushrooms as protein options. The exterior is colorful, and inside there are seating options. We had gotten our food to go, so I cannot comment too much on the service. Had placed our order online, and the food was ready within the estimated time in the order. We ordered the vegan birria tacos ($17.99), the vegan torta ($10.99 base but added soy chorizo, which was $3.99), and the no-no-no taco ($5.99). Our total with fees was approximately $45. Tlaolli offers outdoor seating, so when the weather is nicer this would be a good place to come. Next to the East Washington IPL branch, Tlaolli has a colorful green exterior with neon signage. Food: The food was very good. The proteins were nicely seasoned and juicy. The highlight for me was the birria tacos and the consome. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it. 10/10. This is a great local business in the area to support: offers a diverse menu of options with food that is comforting and tasty.

I'm pretty sure the owner was the one who waited on us. He was friendly and so patient while we decided what to order. I had the chicken chipotle tacos since I remembered them being so good last time but I'm pretty sure you can't go wrong with anything on the menu.
