    Burrito Mexicano with Carne Asada
    Adam H.

This is a small local place that I've been wanting to try for a long time. They have plenty of parking, but there are always cars at this restaurant. The ambiance is lively with music playing. I was there to get an order to go. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The woman who took my order told me upfront that she spoke very little English. However, she was able to successfully take my order and it was exactly what I wanted. I ordered the Mexicano burrito with the meat changed to carne asada. It was good and full of flavor with a bit of heat from the salsas that topped it. The cheese dip and chips were great and did not disappoint. This is a great little place that primarily caters to the neighborhood. There are other items I hope to try on my next visits.

Fun little hole in the wall that has good food for an even better price. I got three cheese enchiladas with rice and beans to go so I could eat at home. Absolutely delicious. My only concern would have been translation problems (my Spanish sucks and some restaurants in my area don't speak much English) but that turned out to be absolutely no problem because there was at least one native English speaker. Completely kind people and the food was made quickly and deliciously. Go check it out!

Very new. The dining area was recently remodeled and immaculately clean. It's a large dining area. I was one of only 2 customers from about 12:30 to 1:00pm. The men's room was very very clean, recently remodeled. But it was not a professional remodeling job, which is sort of typical at this style of Mexican restaurants. So that sort of stood in contrast to the impressive dining area. (Impressive in relation to what you normally expect at small authentic Mexican places.) There were two large screen tv's in the dining area. There was an all electronic touch-screen juke box on the wall, with mostly, but not entirely, Spanish-language music. $.50 per single play. Waitress spoke English well. The plastic-encased menu is bi-lingual. The chips and salsa served up front were excellent. My chicken salad was EXCELLENT! Juicy grilled chicken breast strips served on very fresh shredded lettuce with fresh tomatoes and really good avocados. I ordered a side of guacamole which was also excellent. They serve beer (and maybe wine, but not sure.) The beer signage was minimal, so it's family friendly. This place will probably not last long because of the bad location. But if you're reading this, trust me, if you've got a hankerin' for Mexican food, this is definitely worth the 8 block drive here if you are otherwise travelling along West 38th, or Lafayette Road, or High School Road, or Georgetown, or West 16th or Crawfordsville Road. Man, I love discovering places like this. I hope the Indy 500 or Brickyard 400 traffic is enough to sustain them.

a table and chairs in a restaurant

Place was empty (& I mean EMPTY) when I was there, which was about 3pm on a Monday. When I walked in I was greeted by a male server (in Spanish), and when he realized I didn't speak Spanish, he asked me, "for here or to-go?". I chuckled and said, "Here, please". He seated me and I ordered a beverage. He asked me if I was ready to order like 30 seconds later and I replied that I needed a couple more minutes, and asked if I could get some chips & salsa. Not more than 2 minutes later he returned with chips & salsa, & asked if I was ready to order. I ordered the chicken nachos. When he brought the food out, he asked if I was finished with the chips & salsa lol. I asked him kindly if he could leave them. Bathrooms were ok. While I was there, two other customers entered the restaurant. The server asked if they knew what they wanted to order within 30 seconds of seating them. He definitely needs some guidance & finesse. With good service, this place could be amazing. Without it, customers will be driven away. These things aside, the food was really good. It was ready within a reasonable amount of time & was very fresh & tasty. The music level was perfect (barely audible). The server definitely needs some guidance.

    Seafood tower

There was a decent variety of food options to try, with seafood being their specialty. I ordered this up which had a mix of mussels, clams, crab legs, scallops, calamari and lobster. It was steaming hot and cooked in a hot sauce that was very tasty, though some might find it really spicy. It's quite filling (like 1 1/2 lbs of seafood shelled) and definitely worth trying other options. The food is authentic and also they had karaoke not sure if it's every night

So I'll preface this by saying we've had a lot of truly great food during our 5 days in the…read moreIndianapolis area. Our last dinner - at Dawsons on Main - was the best! We started with Tony's Favorite Nachos which consist of steak, chicken, chorizo or pulled pork (we chose steak) sautéed onions, peppers, house made queso, pico de gallo, guacamole, and black beans on top of freshly fried tri-colored chips. The flavors were truly amazing and often places skimp on the 'stuff' and give you a million chips - Dawsons has the perfect proportion so if anything, you have 'stuff' after the chips are gone. We loved these nachos and were from Texas so that says a lot. We also tried the Firecracker Shrimp, which are shrimp tossed in house-made honey sriracha sauce. These were unlike anything I've had. They had a crispy crunchy exterior and the sauce was to die for - I would buy the sauce alone if I could! It had heat but not crazy heat and the flavor was superb. Our table had the Beef Stroganoff. I must say I am not a fan of beef stroganoff - but this actually was prepared very well and had a very good flavor which kind of surprised me! We also tried the TriColored Tortellini with Chicken which had chicken, mushrooms, peas, sun-dried tomatoes and pesto cream sauce. The flavors were amazing together and I could have eaten more of this as well! We also had the Blackened Chicken Quesadilla which was a Cheddar jalapeño tortilla filled with sautéed chicken, black beans, roasted corn, house tomato relish, roasted red peppers, spinach, Cheddar and Mozzarella cheese. It was served with sour cream and Dawson's Cajun ranch. Although this was on the appetizer menu, it was easily an entree. It was stuffed with the ingredients and very flavorful and filling. All of the ingredients blended together very well and offered a mouth full of flavor in every bite! Finally, we tried the Bayou Chicken Salad which comes with Blackened chicken on top of iceberg/romaine mix with black beans jalapenos, roasted corn, fresh guacamole, house tomato relish, Cheddar, and Mozzarella cheese. It's served with tri-colored chips and Dawson's Cajun ranch. I left the chips and corn off. This was a generous salad with superb flavors. The dressing was wonderful - a little heat and a lot of flavor. Again, this was very filling as well. There was nothing I could find 'wrong' with Dawsons. The service was friendly and prompt and the food was just extremely good. I wish I could transport this place back to Texas so I could eat there more often!

I recently tried Slap's Fish Market and sampled a little bit of everything--lobster roll, burrito,…read morecheesecake, and their lobster deviled eggs--and overall it was a really memorable experience. The service was very helpful deciding what to order. The setting was fun down town indanopolis feel. The lobster roll was definitely the standout. It was packed with fresh, flavorful lobster and had a nice balance of buttery richness without feeling too heavy. You can tell the seafood is high quality, which makes a huge difference. The lobster deviled eggs were super unique and honestly one of my favorite bites. Creamy, slightly tangy, and topped with lobster--it's not something you see everywhere, and they executed it really well. My husband tried the shrimp burrito, which was great for a seafood spot. It was hearty, well-seasoned, and filled generously. It didn't feel like an afterthought on the menu. To finish, the cheesecake was a great choice it was from the cheesecake factory is what the offered for my birthday smooth, rich, and just the right level of sweetness with a strawberry topping to end the meal without being overwhelming. Overall, Slap's Fish Market delivers on both creativity and quality. It's a great spot if you want fresh seafood with a few fun, unexpected twists. I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu.

Not gonna lie, my work group really likes coming here when we have lunch outings. My only problem?…read moreI very much dislike seafood to any capacity. Yet, I still eat here just fine. I feel like most seafood places will have vegetarian options by way of removing the fish from pasta dishes or salad, but it's also nice to know that you can get chicken as a substitute on most of these kinds of dishes, too. Granted, it's just like chicken tenders, but still good nonetheless. I really like their firecracker pasta, which is moderately spicy in my opinion. There's no particular fishy smell here, which is always a good sign that the seafood they serve here is freshly prepared. Our food always comes out quickly for lunch and we've been a group as large as 8 or 9. I do believe that ordering is mostly done online in their mass Ave location, though. I don't really seek out a place like Slapfish on my own (no offense at all, just not a seafood girlie!!), but I would assume that it's a rather popular establishment as they recently opened a fifth location in the greater Indy area. If I did like fish and such more, I'd probably be here on a more regular rotation.

Well the time finally came around for Father's Day as a special request and I'll tell you I should of listened to the bad reviews. Unfortunately they're deserving We made a reservation and we're seated right away around 5. The restaurant is huge and tight seating. Pretty cool vibe. Unfortunately we waited 15 minutes to see a server. We needed our booth wiped down so the whole thing started questionable. As you can see from my pictures it wasn't packed. Our waiter finally came, got someone to wipe our booth off and said he'd be right back. Again .... Waiting. He finally comes back and takes our drink order then swiftly walks away instead of taking (or even asking) for our appetizer orders. We sat sooo long we actually had our entire meal ready to give him. The food was mediocre at best. I told him I couldn't have raw onion, including scallions, yet my dip had them. The chicken dip is a watery mess topped with scallions under cheese that's melted. He was gonna send it back, which I was willing to do, but once I looked under the cheese to see a watery grave of chicken dip? made 'fresh'? I declined. It's obvious it's frozen, thawed, slapped with scallions and cheese and melted . I know the 'made fresh' is a cover for sorry it took forever to remember to bring it out. I'm not really sorry being so snippy it's deserved Clam chowder? (yes another question mark) was another complete MISS . Shrimp cocktail and our filets were fresh and huge shrimp were given though ‍. I was honestly praying our steaks would be cooked right and they definitely were! The fisherman's catch could of used some kind of seasoning. My guest kinda tasted some salt at least ‍ Overall we had a good time because of our company we had. It was a trial and complete error. I'm almost 100 % sure the menu is the problem. It's so expansive there's just too many items causing the problems. Nothing's gonna be fresh like this. I can't imagine if they were a little packed how the wait time and food time would be. It just really failed all of us
