Went to the El Felix in Weatherford. It was your standard Tex-Mex fare. I ordered the puffy taco & was somewhat surprised at its appearance. I've had puffy tacos elsewhere & they all resembled a "tempura" taco but this one was like a small bowl filled with beef, lettuce & tomato & could not be picked up by hand. However, it tasted good. My chicken enchilada covered with sour cream sauce was very bland & needed some extra flavoring, like salsa or green sauce. That reminds me that your salsa was the right amount of spice but that I needed to add about a tsp of sugar to cut through the bitter acidic taste. After the addition of the sugar it was quite delicious. But sadly your chips were thick & stale-- I prefer the thinner, crispier chips like they have at the Blue Goose Cantina in University Park Village. I would probably eat here again if I was in the vicinity but would not go out of my way. read more

Service was slow. In hindsight im glad we filled up onnthe two basket of fries before our food came out. My husband's fish taco he described as tasting like a "goldfish" the manager wouldn't allow him to exchange it for another item without being charged. I don't usually leave bad reviews, but felt this experience warranted one. We arrived at 4pm on a Saturday after youth ball games. Only a few other patrons. We were seated quickly and the hostess was friendly. Ordered our drinks and queso. They came out shortly after. This is when everything began to go downhill. My husband asked if they had spicy salsa (their salsa was mild and many places offer spicier if you ask). We were told they have it, but you have to pay for it. We thought that was strange, for a Mexican restaurant to charge for salsa. We ordered our food about 4:15. During our lengthy wait for our food to come out, we never saw our server again. Had to flag down a different person for drink refills, chip refills, napkins, we were not given napkins or silverware. At 5pm, my kids were getting antsy waiting so we asked if our waiter knew how long our food would take. He said flatly, "no." Then, (upon seeing the face I probably made), followed that up with "there's only one person in the kitchen." Our waiter hadn't been back to help us at all until this time when I called him over. Now when I finally saw him, he didn't volunteer to go see how much longer our food would take, or even offer an apology. I asked if a manager was there. He said yes, "over there" and pointed to a table with about 6-8 employees sitting having drinks. I asked if we could speak to the manager. She came over and I explained. She said she would go check. Our food came out shortly afterward but part of what we ordered was incorrect. We just ate it and cut our losses. No one apologized that it took an hour to get our food, or that our order was wrong, or that no one offered us refills (despite the fact that he only had 1-2 other tables). The food wasn't even that good. Just an overall bad and disappointing experience. We will never be back. read more

I love this place, because I love their tortilla soup, it's really good . I also love Claudia, she is an amazing bartender that seems to take care of way more than the bar. She is so professional, yet friendly. I love talking to her, and getting her takes on menu items. The shrimp fiesta bowl is amazing, and it was Claudia's pick. Her and Janie always take care of me and I enjoy eating there at least once a week. read more

I visited on 8/24/23 with a group of about twenty people. We were so thankful they allowed us to use the large room. The service was excellent especially considering our party size. Stopped here for dinner on my way home from Possum Kingdom. This is only the second El Fenix I've dined at and I got my usual, beef enchilada dinner. Meal arrived in a timely manner and was piping hot. Flavor was consistent with the location on Camp Bowie in west Fort Worth. Well seasoned meat and sides of rice and refried beans. Service was prompt and courteous. Prices have increased a bit, but understandable considering the cost of food in this economy. read more

We are so glad that there is in El Fenix in Weatherford now. The food is always very good and the wait staff is extremely friendly. I love their chips and salsa and there is tons of great food to choose from on the menu. The last time we went I chose a "Pick Three" entree from the lunch menu and it was way more food than I could eat! I chose a plate with a sour cream chicken enchilada, a bean Chalupa, and a ground beef puffy taco. It also came with rice and my choice of beans. I visited during a non busy day. Basically, when no one was there. I was running errands and thought, oh, I'll try them. Upon entering, the hostess was talking to her friends about her nails and some other drama, so it took a minute to get seated. After seating, I was greeted two minutes later with a menu, then after the menu, with chips and salsa (two minutes later). It seems there is a social circle happening, I mean, I wish I was a part of it! After the the chips and salsa (the chips were nice, the salsa was...salsa) my server came over. Very nice, and said "what would you like." I ordered and the food was brought out. I ordered street tacos. The beans were loaded with salt, luke warm, and the meat on the tacos was also luke warm. (What's with meat always being luke warm in Texas?!) I didn't say anything, but ate most of the meal. While the beans, without melted cheese, were decent, the tortillas were like the meat: luke warm and frail. The meat chunks were cold on a few but the onions were good. Anyhow, I can't give anything more than 2 stars for this place. Maybe I visited during an employee social hour, the kitchen was short staffed, the food was late from Kroger, which is fine, but make it known. Will I visit again? Came about 2:30 on a Saturday after two days of being snowed/iced in. We ordered large plates with various enchiladas, tacos and tamales. Service was slow and disorganized as we had a second waitress come take our order. When the food came it was on hot plates but the enchiladas were not really hot inside and the tortillas they were rolled in were a little chalky but edible. The tamales pretty much self destructed. I just wanted to give a shout out to this restaurant. My mom and I decided to drop in at lunchtime today and I have to say, this was one of the best experiences we have had going out to eat in a very long time!!! The food was hot and very good and the waiter Cedric was absolutely amazing. We never had to track him down for anything. He checked on us several times throughout the meal and took care of us. He had the best attitude and was so polite. If I had to say one thing that I feel could be addressed it would be i wish there was a little more cheese in the cheese enchiladas because it took me several bites to even realize that they weren't beef enchiladas but they were still very good....and again, that's just my preference. read more

Quite possibly the worst Mexican food in Weatherford. I'm not sure a single item is actually prepared start to finish in-house. Chips & salsa tasted store bought. Beef fajitas were tough & tasteless. Corn tortillas were garbage. Rice & beans were extremely bland and zero seasoning. Chili over the enchiladas tasted 100% like Wolf brand chili. Best thing I tasted was the sour cream. Another fantastic meal at El Fenix last night. I especially enjoyed the Hatch Chile specials including the queso with Hatch Chilies. Maybe the best thing about the evening was the service. Monica was our server and she was outstanding. Never a dry water or tea glass or short on chips and salsa. She was very attentive, got our order correct and continually checked on us to make certain everything was going well. We dined here Saturday afternoon at 4...they had plenty of open tables but hardly any servers. They had 4 or 5 people up front basically doing nothing. Service was slow and food was Luke warm. Husbands fajitas were tough and had no flavor. The only thing that was good was the chips and salsa. We should have made the drive to Burleson..that location is the bomb!! read more

The food was fast, hot and consistent with all of the other stores. The store was clean and service friendly. We ordered food for 75 people, just under $700 ($9.29 per person), they delivered plenty of chips and salsa, lettuce, cheese, tortillas, and rice/beans, VERY watery beans. But the meat... they delivered a 1/2 tray of VERY soupy beef and a 1/2 tray of soupy chicken. This equated to approx 10 pounds of meat for 75 people. We called the restaurant, because we were convinced they had left part at the restaurant - even the door dash man thought there must be missing food. We ran to HEB and grabbed 6 rotisserie chickens, and deboned those quickly to add to the meat, plus I had added a full nacho bar. Without our added food, we definitely would not have been able to feed 75 people. Would NOT recommend El Fenix for catering your party. read more
