Every time I come here I keep saying, this is the last time. Now it finally may be that time. First off, foods so so. The proteins have a semblance of flavor, if you call grease a flavor. The beans are fighting a battle against the salsas for the title of Most Bland and Watery. Well it's a fast food place, after all, what do we expect? We come here to get food, fast. Well it's National Burrito Day and this fine handheld food deserves to be celebrated, not degraded in the way one has been prepared this fateful day Today this author ordered a Casa Burrito w no Rice, Carnitas, and Green Sauce. It seems like they took the "no rice" part as a sign I'm on a skinny trend because when I tell you I got the saddest burrito ever.. I couldn't even believe it. This tortilla could have been cut in half and saved for later with the amount of fillings I received. As it was received, there were two ends of meat with a gap in the middle. I opened it up and ripped a bunch of excess tortilla off and present to you the results of that before and after. The lack of carnitas is where it really hurts. As the pictures will attest, what we experienced here was a masterful symphony of beans where the onions took center stage and the carnitas was directed to accompany only infrequently for support. I'm not sure why they asked me if I wanted fajitas. Maybe they come with them? If so, I'd say this would be more of a fajita plate with some veggies. The fish taco was a lil weird. Very chewy on the ends of each fish piece. Almost like fish jerky? The amount of chicken was generous. The hubs seemed to enjoy his enchiladas and burrito. Using the drive thru, we were a little confused. No one was on the speaker and we didn't hear the car in front of us ordering, so we just drove up to the window. We turned out to be the dumb ones since we saw the car in front of us getting her order right when she drove up to the window. So don't be stupid like us and not use the speaker. The drive thru person was very sweet and just took our order when we drove up. Luckily there were no cars behind us. Great spot for late night Mexican. Tho pay no attention to the online menu prices. This was our first time trying thos place. We just moved here and I wanted to try it. The gentleman who took our order was very polite and knowledgeable. Made our visit enjoyable. The place was very clean. We ordered inside and had to wait a bit but our food was made to order and when we got home it was still very warm. I have to say the food was spot on presentable. Great aroma and great flavors. For a "fast food" establishment, it was very good. My husband is a Chef and I own a Catering business, Mexican is one of my specialties and I have to say that this particular place is very good. Might be the cook but it's also nice that you get greeted and acknowledged when you go inside. We will try it again sooner than later. read more

Tortilla is the same size but the amount of filling has been reduced. Keep in mind prices have increased. Save your $14.06 you'd spend on a #24 and make your own or skip all together. Why are the beans watery again. I eat here about once a month. Last year the beans were runny until the fair arrived. They were awesome during that time. Now they're back tho no cheese and runny beans. read more

The salsa bar was great, loved all the salsas they had out and the chips were perfect! The restaurant was not super busy but they had a steady flow going, we waited maybe 10 minutes for our tacos to come out. We ordered both chicken and steak minus the onions. Both meats were flavorful and the amount of meat in the taco was just right. Sometimes you go for taco Tuesday and the meat portions are small but not here, they filled the tortilla up just right. We placed an online order at El Forastero Mexican Food in Placerville and were really disappointed. When we arrived, there was only one car ahead of us in the drive-thru, but it still took about 30 minutes to get our food. I figured maybe the car ahead had a big order, but when they handed it over, it looked like a small meal for one. We stayed patient and waited. We live just five minutes away, but by the time we got home, the food was already completely cold. Most of the order was wrong. I had a fish burrito, which had barely any fish in it--and what was there had zero flavor. It was so poorly wrapped that it fell apart the second I picked it up. My wife's order was also incorrect, and what she got was just as bad--cold, sloppy, and falling apart after one bite. We spent almost $50 for two meals, and honestly, the food was just bad all around--from flavor to preparation to overall quality. Definitely not worth it. read more

It is a 24hr greasy spoon located inside of a gas station and nothing about this place screams 'good food' but it's actually really decent, especially for the prices. Rude staff,cleanliness Ordered a relleno without sauce. Was given one with. The server took it back to the kitchen and then could hear the COOK using very vulgar language in spanish. Gone through drive through and ordered super nachos, super burrito, and bean and cheese burrito. Left the location and got home to find no super burrito. Called location and told them they charged me for a super burrito and didn't put it in the bag. Asked for some discount considering I live 20 minutes away. The guy on the phone said we can give you a free burrito. Went back to pickup the burrito they forgot to put in the bag in the first place. Got there and told them that someone said they were going to give me a free burrito and they said no. Basically wasted an extra 40 minutes to go there to get a burrito that they failed to put in my bag in the first place. Then to boot they refused me a discount and or free burrito. I do really love this restaurant and eat there often. However, on our most recent visit the male teenage cashier with the glasses was obviously not happy being there. He had a bad attitude and my husband saw him picking up the plastic cup tops off of the floor and placing them back into inventory . Then while refreshing the salsa bar, he removed all of the salsas to take into the kitchen to refill, and left the uncovered limes, pickled jalapeños and carrots at the bar, uncovered, while spraying windex everwhere! Best street tacos in the county!! I go regularly for it. Over a hundred street tacos here, easy. 930 on a Friday I wanted to go in so they could recognize me and maybe make them a little extra since I'm here a lot and always eat inside for the salsa bar. Did drive thru, got my usual order and it was easily one of the best taco plates I've had from here. So that's why I'm doing the review. I was going for the best street tacos that happen to be around the corner from me. I got literally the best ones I've ever had. WHY? Surely, IDK how or why but, one thing is certain, El Forastero did not scrimp on filling the shrimp burrito with shrimp, i.e., after all, I did order a shrimp burrito~lol. The shrimps stuffed inside the burrito were larger than the other "established" Mexican restaurants which I find absolutely comical at best. Every time I bit into the shrimp burrito, there was a large shrimp in my mouth. They did not give me my card back & I had a fussy baby with me so I didn't notice. This morning they charged my card & that's when I realized I didn't have my card. Went back there to pick up my card & the girl working at the front refused to give it back to me at first until I demanded my card back numerous times.
